Some Home Truths on Abortion

As I have stated so often, it is absolutely essential that we get truth out into the public arena. This is especially important since on most crucial issues of the day, the mainstream media has imposed an iron curtain of censorship so that truth can rarely be found there.

The issue of homosexuality is one prime example. The MSM is completely awash with pro-homosexual material. Every day you will find pieces promoting the homosexual agenda. But it is nearly impossible to find the other side of the story in the MSM.

This is also exactly the same when it comes to the issue of abortion. The MSM has declared the pro-life position to be off limits, and it is very difficult indeed to find any decent pro-life material anywhere in the MSM. In the meantime, there is one pro-abortion news item and opinion piece after another in our media.

If you wonder why this is the case, it is because the MSM is dominated by those of the secular left persuasion. Numerous studies from here and overseas have made this perfectly clear. Thus they determine what we see and hear. And they also determine what we will not see and not hear.

They have enormous power, and sadly most people, even many Christians, do not know what a steady diet of secular left ideology they are feeding on as they imbibe countless hours of the MSM. That is why the alternative media has been established, to get truth out into the public arena.

That is why I have nearly 2000 articles on this website. That is why I endure all the abuse, hatred and death threats – because truth is vitally important, and must be shared at all costs. And one of the most important moral issues of our time is the issue of abortion.

Indeed, this will be my 134th article on this topic. It is the defining debate of our age, just as slavery was 150 years ago. Just as the slave trade had to be opposed with every ounce of strength that the abolitionists could muster, so too abortion must be opposed strenuously, forthrightly, and persistently by us today.

We are in desperate need of pro-life warriors who will do all they can to stand up for those who have no voice. We certainly need such fearless pro-lifers in our churches – both in our pews and in our pulpits. But sadly far too often there is nothing but ugly silence.

However there are some who are standing up and being counted here. John Piper is one such pastor and church leader who has never shied away from this issue. He has long fought the good fight here. Back in 2003 he wrote a superb book entitled, Brothers, We Are Not Professionals: A Plea to Pastors for Radical Ministry (Mentor).

Everyone should read this book, even if you are not a pastor. It is loaded with wonderful, sound and helpful advice to make a difference for Christ and the Kingdom. In it he has a terrific chapter on abortion. He says in part: “I preach on the horrific sin and injustice of abortion and on the glory of the cause of life at least once a year in our church.”

He continues, “I believe pastors should put their lives and ministries on the line in the issue of abortion. The cowardice of some pastors when it comes to preaching against abortion appalls me. . . . The law of our land is immoral and unjust. That should be declared from tens of thousands of pulpits in America.”

Amen to that! He next cites Proverbs 24:11-12:

Rescue those being led away to death;
hold back those staggering toward slaughter.
If you say, “But we knew nothing about this,”
does not he who weighs the heart perceive it?
Does not he who guards your life know it?
Will he not repay everyone according to what they have done?

He then comments: “There is no significant scientific, medical, social, moral, or religious reason for putting the unborn in a class where this text does not apply to them. It is disobedience to this text to abort unborn children.”

Amen and amen Dr Piper. If only we had a million more Christian leaders who can see and speak the truth so clearly and resolutely. We do however have a number of outstanding pro-life activists who are working tirelessly to speak truth on this vital issue, and to alert as many people as possible.

One of them is former American abortionist Carol Everett. I have told her story before, so please have a look here: https://billmuehlenberg.com/1992/06/19/a-review-of-the-scarlet-lady-by-carol-everett/

For those who can’t get her book and read it for themselves, here is the next best thing. Indeed, it is so powerful, so moving, and so absolutely essential viewing, that I in fact beg all of you to watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXZCOaRVrbg

Let it break your heart, and then share it with everyone you know. It is exactly because the MSM is hiding these shocking truths from the public that we need to work overtime to get this information out as far and wide as possible. So please, I beseech you, watch this video and then tell everyone you know about it as well.

Finally, I have just come across this very brief video clip today. I absolutely love it. I have now watched it over and over, and the more I watch it, the more I like it. In the eyes of some, this guy is just some redneck from the US, but he really hits the nail on the head here on the liberal double standards on abortion and capital punishment.

Indeed, I think this is just a fabulous video and really do urge all of you to watch it (allow of course for some good ol’ boy American humour and satire here): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeKwz9W8oWs

This video should also be shared with everyone you know. Since the MSM has declared a total blackout on the truth of abortion, it is up to all of us to fight the good fight, stand up for truth, and spread it around wherever we go. If all of us get involved and do this, we may well see the defeat of abortion in our lifetime.

For a long time it never looked like slavery would be overturned. But a group of dedicated, dogged, and determined activists worked day and night for years on end, and eventually all their hard work paid off. We can do exactly the same here. Let’s all work together to make abortion history.

  1. I’ve noticed often that if I make a comment on same-sex marriage or abortion, it doesn’t get published. There is either a directive from higher up or the minions who vet such posts are applying censorship of Christian views.

  2. Those who call for sterilisation, abortion on demand, contraception etc, should be the first to step up to the plate and be permanently sterilised, I would classify it as a preemptive contraception legislation. I wonder if any abortionists would be prepared to put their reproduction abilities where their mouth is? (in a manner of speaking).

  3. Hi Bill,
The abortion video moved me very deeply. I wish everybody could see it. It is shocking to hear about the cover ups, the mistakes and the coercion, and worst of all the death.
May this lady be blessed and healed for repenting and may she have a great influence in decreasing the number of abortions that happen in America and elsewhere.

  4. Thanks Rodney

Yes it is an incredible video which we need to make available far and wide. It is an eye-opener and a wake-up call to a sleeping society and a sleeping church.

  5. Have just bought the book you recommended; Blood Money. There are still quite a few 2nd hand copies for sale online.

I’m not into sad books – everyone prefers to be happy – but the saddest book I have ever read is Giving Sorrow Words: Women’s stories of grief after abortion by Melinda Tankard Reist.

Sometimes it’s good to be sad if it moves you to action.

  6. I have just watched the YouTube clips and I am in shock. How can we (and America, Canada, Britain etc) class ourselves as civilized societies?

Ireland seems to be one of the only first world countries where abortion is still illegal and they are currently being hammered by the UK and other European activists to legalize it, but so far they are holding firm.

I note that abortion is generally still illegal in many third world countries, they put us to shame.

The truth about abortion is just so unbelievable that when I talk to people about it, they simply do not believe what I tell them. Two conversations this week ended abruptly with people telling me that I am gullible to believe in ‘such rubbish from the internet’ and there is no way on earth that Australia would allow babies to be butchered in the manner described (partial birth abortion). One told me that talking about this, as if it was true, is making me a fool. He then asked me for statistics and evidence on late term abortions apart from YouTube and internet stories…. Of course when I tried to explain the cover up of statistics and that there is no legal requirement for keeping and certainly not publishing statistics he then took that as confirmation that he was right and I was a gullible idiot.

But hey – we press on. Thanks for the clips – I will send them on (even if they are dismissed as ‘internet rubbish’)
Happy to be a fool for abortion, I reckon we need a few more out there crazy pro life nut s- they might actually get into the news and bring some attention to this.
If the current situation is what we call civilized – then please bring on crazy!

Thanks Bill, for bringing these important issues to our attention.

  7. I just read this by a woman on another site:

“I have never had an abortion nor would I. However, for those that might have I pass no judgment, I am sure it was not a easy decision they had to make. That is something that a woman will have to live with. A woman should not feel guilty for being responsible…”

I posted this as a response:

“I have never had a slave nor would I. However, for those that might have I pass no judgment, I am sure it was not a easy decision they had to make. That is something that a slave owner will have to live with. A slave owner should not feel guilty for being responsible…”

  8. “The University College London Student Union voted this month to ensure that “any future open events by UCLU Clubs or Societies focusing on the issue of termination invite an anti-choice speaker, a pro-choice speaker, and an independent chair, to ensure there is a balance to the argument”. In other words, no matter what its members’ religious beliefs, they must agree to give a platform to supporters of abortion. Oh, and to ensure that the “chair” in such a debate, be “independent”. Given its heavy-handed stage-management, I’m surprised that the Union doesn’t request the right to pack the audience with pro-choicers too (just as many people suspect the BBC packs the Question Time audience with liberal Lefties).” – Christian Odone

We can easily imagine what would happen when a pro–life speaker got up to speak by reminding ourselves of this graphic illustration of the so-called freedom of thought, freedom of honest inquiry and freedom of speech now exercised in universities across Western civilisation thanks to the Frankfurt School.

Yes quite right – so much for freedom of thought or freedom of expression. We will only think and speak what Big Brother wants us to.

  10. Question: I have friends telling me openly not to display pro-life stuff on my FB page as it’s more harmful than good and ‘scares off’ any woman who may be thinking of having an abortion. Their reasoning is that if she’s aware of my beliefs then she won’t come to me for help because she’ll think that I’ll say God’s going to send her to hell (or similar). I’ve already stated that I’d never pass God’s judgement on another person who had an abortion and I believe that telling the truth about abortion to wake up those who think it’s a small medical procedure like having your appendix out so that they can lobby governments to stop it is just as important as caring for post-abortive mums, etc. Are there any other arguments I can add to that? I’m frustrated by their accusations that I’m being ‘judgemental’ and harsh. Thanks.
    Julie Lawson

  11. Thanks Julie

Those who work full time in this area may be better placed to answer you, but a few thoughts if I may. One way or another the truth of what abortion is and what it does has to get out there. We cannot shrink back here. Indeed, you could take all the objections you have heard or are concerned about and apply them to the slave trade: ‘oh, we better not show pictures of poor abused slaves’ etc.

And at the end of the day you will never be able to avoid being labelled. The most perfect man on earth was labelled, hated, rejected and despised – and eventually hung on the cross. Paul speaks of the “offense” of the gospel. And all slave owners would have been offended at people like Wilberforce. How could they not have been?

So sure, we must be as gracious, winsome, wise and loving as we can be here as we speak the truth, but we must speak the truth nonetheless. Some people will respond to it, and others will reject it. But we are under obligation to speak the truth in love.

  12. Thanks, Bill. Just wanted to check that I wasn’t missing something important in my argument. I’m new at this truth stuff, but learning lots every day!

    Julie Lawson

  13. Julie Lawson, don’t listen to such nonsense from those telling you not to put pro-life stuff on Facebook. If we are ever going to put an end to abortion we need to change the culture and that’s not going to happen unless we speak out using every means possible. You could tell your friends that by failing to speak up and tell the truth about abortion we might even have blood on our hands because who knows what effect our words may have – they may change someone’s mind and save a life.

    Ewan McDonald, Victoria

  14. Quite right Bill, or:

“I have never killed a Jew nor would I. However, for those that might have I pass no judgment, I am sure it was not a easy decision they had to make. That is something that a Nazi will have to live with. A Nazi should not feel guilty for being responsible…”

    Mansel Rogerson

  15. Bill, such a powerful quote, I had to move it to another area entirely:
“I have never stolen from a bank nor would I. However, for Ronald Biggs I pass no judgment, I am sure it was not a easy decision he had to make (cash is so critical to maintaining a wealthy lifestyle). That is something that he will have to live with. Biggs should not feel guilty for being responsible…”

  16. I went to post a letter and someone had plastered a sticker that said ‘Cruelty to animals Blood on your hands’. I whipped out a pen and wrote ABORTION between the words ‘animals’ and ‘Blood’. I feel a lot of the neuroses we see today are post-abortion syndrome, even all the anorexia, vegetarianism, even the homosexual epidemic.

  17. The chink in the armour seems to be foetal homicide. We’ve had a couple of cases here where women have lost babies as a result of violent assaults on them by their partners. But apart from fines, imposed for the assaults, the men concerned were not required to face charges for the deaths of the babies. In the most recent case the woman, who not unnaturally was devastated by the court’s decision, has pleaded that the laws be changed to allow victims redress in these situations. To their credit Ch 10 covered the story and pointed out the anomaly in the existing laws.
They even allowed a comment to the effect that the only way justice could be done was to revert to the definition which recognises that human life commences at conception.
Perhaps the tide is finally turning.

  18. Thanks for your work, and this article. I really long for the church to be robustly biblical in its public action, and its public voice. On this absolutely clear-cut issue, it is astounding that we Christians almost always drop the ball. The MSM is feeding us lies, and we sit back and assume that our children, fellow church members, and friends will be fine. But we’ve forgotten about the importance of worldview thinking, and whole-of-life discipleship. Without them, we will simply become like the world, and the we will let the culture go to hell. And so it is! Christians are to be salt and light, and we should leaven the lump. We need to fight for truth in every sphere, including this particular sphere of the rights of the unborn. To not do so is to neglect a basic Christian duty.
    Simon Kennedy

  19. Brilliant Bill. But an extremely sad article about our ultra sad society. Lets make Abortion History. Don’t worry we are working on it!!!!!!!
