Late-Term Baby Killing

George Orwell once said, “We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men.” We are living in such an age of lies and deception, that truth has to be proclaimed, and proclaimed, and proclaimed again.

Indeed, some truths need to be shouted from the rooftops. One such truth is what happens in an abortion – the destruction of a young member of the human race. Not only should everyone know what happens at the abortion mills, but there is no excuse for ignorance about an especially barbaric and hideous abortion method: late-term abortion.

I have written this up on numerous occasions, but it seems many people are not aware of what happens here, or simply do not want to know. Can I respectfully say to the latter group of people, in a similar manner many Germans simply did not want to know what was taking place in those nearby compounds where chimneys were bellowing out putrid smoke night and day back in the 1940s.

No society that wants to call itself civilised can dare to ignore what was going on during the Holocaust, and so too no humane society can keep its head in the sand regarding abortion. Of course the abortion industry and its MSM supporters want to keep their dark dirty little secrets all to themselves.

Indeed, when was the last time you have ever seen the MSM describing, illustrating or showing what takes place in a late-term abortion? I refer especially to the Dilation and Extraction (D&X) abortion method, also known as the partial-birth method. A wall of silence has gone up concerning this, and it is up to us and the alternative media to get the truth out.

The reason I raise this issue again is because of several recent news items. You will recall the controversy which has erupted over a Melbourne abortion clinic – which also does late-term abortions – because at least 30 women have contracted Hepatitis C while there.

It seems that when evil abounds, evil is compounded. The other story appeared in today’s press with this headline: “Healthy babies aborted”. The article begins with these words: “Almost one late-term abortion is performed in Victoria every day, and 54 babies survived the procedure to die post-natally, according to figures released by the State Government. Of the 345 late-term abortions in 2007 – the highest number on record – 164 were performed at a Melbourne clinic on women with healthy foetuses who said they were suffering psychological or social problems.

“Many of the women who were granted late term abortions for ‘psycho-social’ reasons travel from overseas or interstate to have the procedure done at the clinic, one of the few facilities in the country willing to perform late-term abortions. Two of the terminations of healthy foetuses were older than 28 weeks’ gestation, but the majority were performed on women who were about six months’ pregnant.”

In a moment I will describe to you this particularly gruesome abortion technique. But consider this next statement from the article: “The medical world is divided over the practice of allowing women to undergo late-term abortions for psycho-social reasons”.

One might as well say, ‘The medical world is divided over the practice of allowing Jews and others to be sent to the gas chambers for psycho-social reasons’. There should be no division in the medical community over this. There should be complete unanimity.

That we even have to debate such matters shows how far into the cesspool we have sunk as a society. Fortunately a few voices of sanity have been heard in this debate. For example, Dr David van Gend is quoted as follows, “These are babies that are older than some of the children who are born premature and who will thrive. There are literally thousands of upstanding Victorians who they could be adopted out to, but they’re being aborted”.

Dr Mathew Piercey rightly noted that these deaths raised important ethical issues for medical practitioners: “If there is a chance of life then resuscitation facilities should be there. People could be in serious breach of their duties”.

Now many people will still not know what all the fuss is about. So let me here repeat what I have written elsewhere about the D&X abortion method: “The abortionist pulls the baby out with a forceps. He then delivers the baby’s body feet first, leaving the head inside. Scissors are then inserted into the base of the skull of the live baby and spread to enlarge the hole. The brains are then sucked out with a suction catheter.

“The difference between the D & X procedure and homicide is about three inches. If the head had also been taken out of the mother, the doctor would have a legal requirement to do all he can to save the child. But by leaving the head in, he can perform his ‘family planning’ technique without fear of consequence.”

If that sounds too clinical and remote, let me share the story of one nurse who helped perform this act of savagery, but had to pull out altogether. This is part of her moving story: “I was present for three of these partial-birth procedures. It is the first one that I will describe to you in detail.

“The mother was six months pregnant (26 1/2 weeks). A doctor told her that the baby had Down Syndrome and she decided to have an abortion. She came in the first two days to have the laminaria inserted and changed, and she cried the whole time. On the third day she came in to receive the partial-birth procedure.

“Dr. Haskell brought the ultrasound in and hooked it up so that he could see the baby. On the ultrasound screen, I could see the heart beating. As Dr. Haskell watched the baby on the ultrasound screen, the baby’s heartbeat was clearly visible on the ultrasound screen.

“Dr. Haskell went in with forceps and grabbed the baby’s legs and pulled them down into the birth canal. Then he delivered the baby’s body and the arms – everything but the head. The doctor kept the baby’s head just inside the uterus.

“The baby’s little fingers were clasping and unclasping, and his feet were kicking. Then the doctor stuck the scissors through the back of his head, and the baby’s arms jerked out in a flinch, a startle reaction, like a baby does when he thinks that he might fall.

“The doctor opened up the scissors, stuck a high-powered suction tube into the opening and sucked the baby’s brains out. Now the baby was completely limp. I was really completely unprepared for what I was seeing. I almost threw up as I watched the doctor do these things….

“Dr. Haskell delivered the baby’s head. He cut the umbilical cord and delivered the placenta. He threw that baby in a pan, along with the placenta and the instruments he’d used. I saw the baby move in the pan. I asked another nurse and she said it was just ‘reflexes’.

“I have been a nurse for a long time and I have seen a lot of death – people maimed in auto accidents, gunshot wounds, you name it. I have seen surgical procedures of every sort. But in all my professional years, I had never witnessed anything like this.

“The woman wanted to see her baby, so they cleaned up the baby and put it in a blanket and handed the baby to her. She cried the whole time, and she kept saying, ‘I’m so sorry, please forgive me!’ She screamed and prayed to God to forgive her, and for that baby to forgive her, and she held him and rocked him, and told him that she loved him.

“I was crying too. That baby boy had the most perfect angelic face I have ever seen. And I couldn’t take it. After all the years I’ve been a nurse, I lost it. I excused myself and I ran to the bathroom … I cried and I prayed.”

If that does not spur you to action, then my friend you are no longer alive. Finally, to see (in simple sketches) what actually takes place, please see this site: http://www.nrlc.org/abortion/pba/PBA_Images/PBA_Images_Heathers_Place.htm

This “procedure” is happening right here, right now in Melbourne and all over the world. We call it a ‘woman’s right to choose’. And in Germany 70 years ago they called it “cleaning up the Jewish question” and “the final solution”.  When you murder language, through euphemisms and the like, you can get away with murder – literally; even the murder of unborn babies.

  2. How totally black are the hearts of those involved in this slaughter. Their humanity has been stripped away. Anybody who advocates this or does not even denounce it has deadened their conscience.

I was an unplanned pregnancy. I was ‘me’ from conception. Even drawing the distinction at only ‘late-term’ makes me cold.

Jereth, the obvious link with abortion and homosexuality is ‘free’ sex of any type at any time without consequences. But it doesn’t seem very freeing to me when people are blind slaves to their desires without regard for any truth that may hinder that even a little, even to the point of ignoring regard for life itself at its most vulnerable.

  3. This just makes me feel physically sick. I know first hand how a baby feels at 16 weeks – like little butterflies moving daintily around in my stomach. At 24 weeks you can feel rolls, kicks, jabs and hiccups – the baby is alive and well and just a complete miracle. To abort at this point is more than just murder, it is inhuman. Even animals would not do this.
    Jenny McCourt

  4. Bill, I can hardly type, my mind is reeling, and I couldn’t hurt my brain any more by reading the whole article.

It’s revolting to think we have come so low.

Sadly, I can feel in myself how people shut their eyes to this – we are not made to read or view such horrors.

    Sorry – I can’t go on.

    John Angelico

  5. Terri, above, can’t write anything, and I can’t fully read your article, Bill, as I know it will seriously upset me (and one has to go on, getting through life …). I propose we draft something called The Anti-CD Charter, or some such name, which would enshrine a “gold standard” of ethics, and the first article would be belief in the absolute value of all human life from conception to natural death. Signing up to it or not would cause people to show their true colours – particularly those who trumpet their “high ethical” status (eg. the Co-Op and Amnesty International, in Britain), but who actually support the Culture of Death – time for choice, decision; are you for life or death? No fudge is possible. Will anyone take up my proposal?

  6. Bill, thanks for this. What you write on this and many topics are important calls for much needed action. But its not enough to make readers feel sad, affronted or angry. It would help if you also made suggestions about what people could/should do in terms of taking action. And maybe highlight the need for each of us to repent and bow on our knees before God.
    Peter Baade

  7. It doesn’t seem to be worrying the Catholic bishops or parish priests too much so why should it worry anyone else. They are concerned about a number of left-wing causes but abortion isn’t one of them. Their main concern is the collection plate.

I think that it’s fair enough to say that civilisation is dead in Australia. We just have to wait until people recognise it. Maybe if they recognise it soon they can do something about it but I am not optimistic.

    Greg Byrne

  8. But what do we do? This is awful and these people are butchers. It’s not the mothers fault, it’s the doctors, the philosophers, the teaches, the ethicists and the legislators that tell them that it’s ok. Can this be taken to the mass media?
    Chris Dixon

  9. Thanks Kev (and others)

Yes, in response to the various pleas made here as to what we can do: the truth is, the sky’s the limit. There are plenty of things we can do, from little things to great things. We must first of all become informed about the issue, then tell everyone we can using whatever means we can. So use letters to the editor, talk-back radio, sites like FaceBook, create your own blog site, etc.

Also, we need pro-life people in all walks of life and in all the professions. We need pro-life doctors, nurses, media people, journalists, teachers, lecturers, judges, lawyers, social workers, politicians, artists, etc.

Also, get your local church or parish to become involved in pro-life activities. Volunteer your time at a pregnancy crisis counselling centre, or set one up yourself. Join a pro-life group, get their newsletters and attend their meetings. Hold pro-life conferences and rallies. Hand out pro-life literature. Engage in peaceful protests outside of the abortion mills.

There really is no limit to what can be done. So we need to know about this issue, we need to care about this issue, and then we simply pray and ask God how he can best use us on this issue.

  10. After reading this on the train the other night, I cried the whole 25 minute walk home. It just kills me on the inside to even think how plastic and heartless society has become.
    Ash Curkpatrick

  11. So so tragic. And the tragedy continues. Just today (Sat) it has been announced that in the USA planned parenthood is to start dispensing abortion pills online so one doesn’t have to meet a physician face to face. Answer a few questions on line, they press a button that gives you access to the device (a pill) and the child ends up dead. Problem solved!
What monsters of iniquity we have become.

  12. Dear Bill, A very true but sad article which should be widely read but I am sorry to say it won’t be as people are not interested in the abortion issue anymore. I have been actively involved in the pro-life movement since the 1970’s and few of my fellow parishioners have responded to my requests for help even though I have lived in the same parish for twenty five years. Moreover, in all those years I have only once heard the subject mentioned by a priest and there have been a number of different priests in that time. If more Catholics had stirred themselves and become involved it would not have turned out to be so hopeless. I saw unborn babies at all stages of development when I was a young nurse in the fifties. I even baptised a little girl of five months gestation who had been left to die in a kidney dish. These babies were the result of natural miscarriages not procured abortions but because of that experience there never was any doubt in my mind about their humanity. There were some heated debates in the seventies but the main focus was on the rights of women and never on the right to life of the unborn child and this was amongst nurses. I distinctly remember being a lone voice defending the right to life of the unborn child. People are so callous. I feel as if I have spent half a lifetime in this cause but it doesn’t even get discussed now. Most neither know or care that such awful things are happening. The subject has gone almost completely underground. Needless to say the media always portrayed the pro life movement as banner waving fanatics which didn’t help their cause.

  13. The term the united nations uses is “reproductive health”. The torture of language!
    Lawrie McNamara

  14. Bill Absolutely horrendous. If that does not provide enough evidence I suggest doubters should get hold of “The Silent Scream” where the abortionists act can be seen. It was done by Dr Bernard Nathanson a one time US abortionist who is accredited with responsibility for 70,000 abortions. When he saw this he stopped – forever and now fights abortion. It is not a pleasant film to watch – but watching the image of a child being killed never will be to anyone but a deranged psychopath – perhaps.
We should pray for those who do it and those nurses involved with this mass murder.
    David Grace

  15. Re late term abortions at 26 – 28 weeks, these babies are viable and don’t die quickly after delivery. If they are wrapped in a blanket and kept warm they will survive for quite a while, especially those at 28 weeks gestation. So how exactly were they killed? Exposure to cold in a metal pan? Dehydration over 24 – 48 hours? What was the method used?

When a kangaroo or other marsupial is hit and killed accidentally on the road, concerned people look to see if there is a joey in its pouch, and if there is, it is nursed carefully and fed with an eye-dropper every few hours. If we give such care to baby marsupials, why not to baby humans?

    Babette Francis

  16. Bill, I’m sure you’re aware of that in Victoria “Hate crimes” legislation is being reviewed to “have regard to whether an offence was motivated (wholly or partially) by hatred of, or prejudice against, a group of people with common characteristics with which the victim was associated or with which the offender believed the victim was associated”. While agenda driven gay zealots are the prime potential darlings of all this, do you think that little unborn children would be even considered in this legislation? I don’t think so…stinking vile hypocrites!!
    Anthony McGregor

  17. I don’t know about anyone else, but I feel somewhat responsible for that young boy’s death – as a voice in the society which took his life away from him.
    Peter Morreau

  18. Dear Bill, I hardly know what to say – I feel SO horrified at what is going on.Truly, the powers and principalities are having a field day.
I agree regarding the euphemisms that enable people to do the unthinkable. Also, I am aware of many Christians who wave their hands around and cry ‘don’t tell me’ regarding ANY unpalatable truths.
I guess we cry out to God for forgiveness AND for effective strategies for making the truth known – then there will be no excuse for such horrors.
    Sue Short, UK

  19. To those people who have referred to the Catholic ‘silence’ on the issue of abortion. This is my view of it – Catholics are so removed from any biblical truth it’s not funny. I see a split in the Church as almost imminent – a split between the liberal ‘Catholics’ and those who follow the teachings of the Catholic Church in Rome. Liberal Catholics (and they exist in every parish) are destroying the church from within.
    Jane Petridge

  20. Yes Bill this is demonic; the enemy loathes and envies the reality that we are permitted and called to share in the Divine work of creation. He seeks to pervert, corrupt and destroy our sexuality, and the new life God calls forth through it, in any way he can. We all have a duty to be active in defence of human life at every stage, rather than be determinedly and agressively “blind” like some who debate you on other issues. I wonder if Greg Byrne will be taking part in the walk from St.Mary’s Cathedral to the Parliament in Perth on Wednesday evening led by our anti-abortion activist archbishop Barry Hickey? I do not have the details here, as my poster is prominently displayed on the notice board of my parish church in Armadale. I too wish that more prominence was given to what Mother Teresa considered to be the most important issue confronting humanity. She told the United Nations Assembly so, in no uncertain terms, when she addressed that diabolically infiltrated body of peddlers of slaughter. I know the Body of Christ is broken, sinful and divided Greg and it breaks my heart and fuels my prayer, but can we please not be so blatantly unfair to one another. There are enough enemies in the world system, let’s not be unjust to one another. Fair correction and rebuke is another matter entirely, and sadly necessary when we fall short of the mark. That needs to be humbly accepted and acted on!
    Anna Cook

  21. Thanks for your article, Bill! It truly is an indictment that all this is happening without practically a murmur from not only our moral leaders – who are as silent as the grave, but those of us who know deep within our souls that abortion is profoundly morally wrong.

Here, in South Australia, it is also common practice to abort babies well over 20 weeks and also leave them to die alone if they manage to survive the abortion.

(I’ve estimated that around 300 aborted babies are left to die around Australia each year. So, while partial birth abortions can rightly be regarded as homicide, leaving aborted babies gasping for breath can rightly be regarded as infanticide.)

What can we do? I agree with you, Bill, we need to be getting the truth out there as much as we can about the reality of abortion, in any way we can, e.g. by way of painting, writing, t-shirts, politics, speaking, etc.

And that is why I ran as an independent in our state election in March this year, under the banner of Save the Unborn.

Anyway, despite being snubbed by the MSM (they were incredibly careful not to give me any attention), the campaign was very effective in getting a word out about what is happening to unborn babies in and out of the womb, especially when no other forums exist in our society to be able to do this. eg http://www.borderwatch.com.au/archives/6499

Unfortunately, Christians within major or minor parties rarely, and sometimes never, for what ever reason, seem to be willing to voice their concerns about abortion.

Surely, if it is good enough for the Greens to have a party for the environment, then it’s good enough to have a party solely to protect the unborn babies — after all, they are our smallest and youngest neighbours!

And on this note: This federal election a number of us in SA would like to put together a ‘Save the Unborn’ party. So if anyone is interested in becoming a member of this new party, either contact me via http://abortsa.com/ or contact@abortsa.com for more information.

  22. There are so many angles to see the injustice and hypocrisy of all this and I was reminded of another one last night during a discussion on euthanasia…..currently, our laws do not allow people to die who desperately want to die (and often with good reason) but our laws allow people to kill children who desperately want to live.

I’m not an advocate of euthanasia but just pointing out the obvious injustice.

    Peter Morreau

  23. Hi Anthony,

One only has to look at the current Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 to confirm the government’s stance on the killing of the unborn. This despicable piece of legislation reads in part:

    9 Right to life
Every person has the right to life and has the right not to be arbitrarily deprived of life.
10 Protection from torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment
    A person must not be—
    (a) subjected to torture; or
    (b) treated or punished in a cruel, inhuman or degrading way; or
    (c) subjected to medical or scientific experimentation or treatment without his or her full, free and informed consent.
17 Protection of families and children
    (2) Every child has the right, without discrimination, to such protection as is in his or her best interests and is needed by him or her by reason of being a child.

Sounds good so far ….. but:

    48 Savings provision
Nothing in this Charter affects any law applicable to abortion or child destruction, whether before or after the commencement of Part 2.

    http://www.legislation.vic.gov.au/Domino/Web_Notes/LDMS/PubLawToday.nsf/2184e627479f8392ca256da50082bf3e/6A434CAD017AC08ACA2573B700227912/$FILE/06-43a003.pdf

One has to wonder what the purpose is of such a self contradictory document. No doubt it simply serves to falsely paint our elected representatives as moral because 99% of voters are only familiar with the noble sounding title of the Act, and have no idea of the actual provisions within it.

  24. I recommend readers to log onto LifeSiteNews.com and go to Friday 7th May, 2010.
There you will find an article titled – New Study “Follow the Money”of Abortion.
At the end of the article you can click onto the Paper titled “Commercial Markets Created by Abortion: Profiting from the Fetal Distribution Chain” by student Victoria Evans, her Dissertation for the Licentiate at the Faculty of Bioethics, Athenaeum Pontificium Regina Apostolorum. It too makes one sick to the stomach and I have no doubt it is happens here in Australia.

  25. Sad but true, Many women are being coerced by the medical profession following scans and amnios to abort children who don’t fit the criteria for our ‘already imperfect’ society. I speak from experience as my husband and I were ushered into a crowded room by many expertise in the medical field regarding our son’s diagnosis following an ultrasound. I won’t repeat the threats made on our family by the know-alls in white coats that day. Thankfully (and with a knowledge of His word) we did not succumb to a such barbaric act. I had the privilege of carrying our little boy and seeing him off to the arms of Jesus when he was born.
A blessing I will never forget!

  26. Bill, the protest walk against abortion to which I referred earlier, will start off from St. Mary’s Cathedral (Perth W.A.) tonight, Tuesday, beginning at 7p.m. It will be led by Archbishop Barry Hickey and there will be stops for prayers of repentance outside Government House and outside the Office of the Premier. The whole protest and repentance event will conclude at the entrance to the Parliament finishing around 9p.m. Those, like myself who are unable to walk the distance, may join at any stage along the way. Apologies for any confusion caused by my previous mistake.

  27. We live in a dark age in spite of (or perhaps because of) all the so-called advances we have made. As the late Larry Norman (a protege of Francis Schaeffer) wrote in one of his songs “Sometimes I think that we’ve advanced but then I look at where we are”. I can’t help thinking that the culture of death we are seeing is a direct consequence of the culture of sin in our society, a phenomenon which is not mitigated by and in fact is being facilitated by the ease of modern life due to the advances of science and technology. “Seeking to be wise they have become fools”. I pray for the souls of our age to get back to the basics, namely “Love the Lord your God with all your heart soul mind and strength and love your neighbour as yourself” Only that kind of awakening will stop us blaspheming God by abusing the miraculous gift of life which was bequeathed in our DNA and passed down from generation to generation since Adam. How have we come to this, that human society values the cheap gimmicks that money can buy over the wealth of life itself? How many times have sin-soaked individuals painted themselves into a corner by worshipping the god of mammon and then when push comes to shove, the baby which is conceived amidst all this mess is deemed unaffordable and therefore dispensable, as if that precious gift of life were somehow an expense like a car or a piece of furniture. Of all the things we could get into debt over, from tobacco and alcohol or drug addiction, or simply the addiction to the easy lifestyle or the accumulation of material possessions due to easy credit, somehow the fruit of our loins, the image of our human selves as passed on to our unborn children, is deemed “unaffordable” by the abortion counsellors. So to avoid the stress of dealing with the mess of sin we created, the child’s life is flushed away, and the abortive would-be parents carry on with their life of sin, with the only difference being that something has now changed, somehow there is now a weight of guilt which was never there before to such a degree. When will people be given the message that the wages of sin is death, and that the children’s teeth do not need to be set on edge just because their parents have eaten sour grapes. The only way to end this carnage is for the adults responsible to become responsible adults and bear the consequences of their sin rather than making their children pay with their lives. Only by receiving the forgiveness of Christ and His redeeming power to change their lives by sanctifying themselves in His service, can lives be changed and society impacted in such a way that abortions become unthinkable. This kind of revival is not likely to happen in our generation unless the church gets back to the basics of our calling and starts living the life that we are called to. Yet at present the church is deaf and dumb to what is happening. Somehow we have turned the holiness of separation from sin into a separation of us the redeemed from the world of fellow human beings who are drowning in their sin. All because we have become part of the conspiracy of silence imposed on us by the godless educational system, pushing the lie that religion and real life are incompatible with each other. There are a few churches that are preaching to the unconverted but most churches are ghettoes for 2nd or 3rd generation Christians but unfortunately God has no grandchildren and if our children are not born again then they will become 1st generation unbelievers and slip away into the world. The only way to avert this is for them to see reality in church life, we need to start calling a spade a spade and get serious about confronting each other and the world with the seriousness and nature of sin and the need for forgiveness and repentance in order to please the Father heart of God for our generation. What more can I say, we need God himself in our lives, we need the Holy Spirit to be present in everything we do. If we the redeemed of the Lord do not say so, who will?
    Greg Annett

  28. I’m numb from reading something so disgusting and violent that my tears are still flowing. I’m so sad and angry that the leaders of this country allow this to happen, how can they sleep! As far as the slogan “a womens choice” I say yes it was your choice and you made it. But now it’s no longer your choice because the baby inside you is alive and it feels the suffocation and pain as you destroy it. How could you?
    Jessica Bone

  29. I knew about this before, but that nurses recount of what happened was just horrible. I feel so helpless as to how to stop this. It’s so awful and I can’t believe this is happening. My darling baby boy was born just 5 months ago, and it cuts me to the heart thinking of how another mother could do that to her child. my son brings me such joy. it is such a tragedy that this happens.
(I came across your website whilst looking to see if there is anyone else in Perth WA that does peaceful protests outside abortion clinics- if anyone knows any info please let me know.)
    Hannah Hansel

  30. I can’t tell you the number of times I have begun to describe the partial birth abortion to people and they have cringed and indicated that they don’t want to know or hear.

    Annette Nestor, Perth

  31. The infanticide doesn’t end for the baby who get’s to get delivered. There is a worldwide epidemic of astonishing proportions of neurological damage and auto immune disease waiting for the babies brought to the birth – and vaccinated. The fact that a new born baby has no immune system to ‘stimulate’ doesn’t stop the onslaught of wholesale destruction in the name of profit that the vaccine industry represents. Nothing in nature resembles the horrific assault on the blood, the immune system and the neurological system of children, animals and adults, as that of the direct introduction into the bloodstream of the toxic witches brew innocuously termed ‘vaccines’. The fallout in the 20th century and beyond is dreadful.
    Victoria Bingham
