Pepsi and Dead Babies

For some time now we have known that the taste of Pepsi is based in part on the use of aborted babies. And now the Obama administration informs us that this is no big deal – just business as usual. Just more chilling scenes from the culture wars and the battle for life.

Last year pro-life groups were already warning about this, and asking that those concerned about life boycott PepsiCo for this practice. It is still continuing, and Obama’s people consider it to be just fine. Here is how one news story reported matters last year:

“Scores of prolife groups are calling for a public boycott of food giant, PepsiCo, due to its partnership with Senomyx, a biotech company that uses aborted fetal cells in the research and development of artificial flavor enhancers. LifeSiteNews previously reported on Senomyx’s partnership with major food corporations, most notably PepsiCo, Kraft Foods, and Nestlé.

“Pro-life watchdog group, Children of God for Life (CGL), is now joined by major pro-life organizations calling upon the public to target PepsiCo in a boycott. Pepsi is funding the research and development, and paying royalties to Senomyx, which uses HEK-293 (human embryonic kidney cells) to produce flavor enhancers for Pepsi beverages. ‘Using isolated human taste receptors we created proprietary taste receptor-based assay systems that provide a biochemical or electronic readout when a flavor ingredient interacts with the receptor,’ says the Senomyx website.

“‘What they do not tell the public is that they are using HEK 293 – human embryonic kidney cells taken from an electively aborted baby to produce those receptors,’ stated Debi Vinnedge, President for CGL, the watch dog group that has been monitoring the use of aborted fetal material in medical products and cosmetics for years. The aborted fetal cells are not in the product itself. However, ‘there are many options PepsiCo could be using instead of aborted fetal cells,’ noted Vinnedge.”

That report came from May of last year. Despite many people sharing their concerns with the company and with the government, it seems their pleas have fallen on deaf ears. Obama’s administration has dismissed these concerns, and simply want Pepsi to carry on with business as usual.

Consider this news item from yesterday: “PepsiCo has come under fire from pro-life advocates because it has been contracting with a research firm that uses fetal cells from babies victimized by abortions to test and produce artificial flavor enhancers.

“Now, the Obama administration is set to face more criticism because an agency has declared that Pepsi’s use of the company and its controversial flavor testing process constitutes ‘ordinary business.’ In a decision delivered February 28, the Security and Exchange Commission ruled that PepsiCo’s use of aborted fetal remains in their research and development agreement with Senomyx to produce  flavor enhancers falls under ‘ordinary business operations.’

“Debi Vinnedge, Executive Director of Children of God for Life, the organization that exposed the PepsiCo-Senomyx collaboration last year, informed LifeNews today that a letter signed by Attorney Brian Pitko of the SEC Office of Chief Counsel was sent in response to a 36-page document submitted by PepsiCo attorneys in January 2012. In that filing, PepsiCo pleaded with the SEC to reject a Shareholder’s Resolution filed in October 2011 that the company ‘adopt a corporate policy that recognizes human rights and employs ethical standards which do not involve using the remains of aborted human beings in both private and collaborative research and development agreements.’

“PepsiCo lead attorney George A. Schieren noted that the resolution should be excluded because it ‘deals with matters related to the company’s ordinary business operations’ and that ‘certain tasks are so fundamental to run a company on a day-to-day basis that they could not be subject to stockholder oversight.’

“Vinnedge said she is appalled by the apathy and insensitivity of both PepsiCo executives and the Obama administration. ‘We’re not talking about what kind of pencils PepsiCo wants to use – we are talking about exploiting the remains of an aborted child for profit,’ she said. ‘Using human embryonic kidney (HEK-293) to produce flavor enhancers for their beverages is a far cry from routine operations.’

“Vinnedge said PepsiCo also requested the resolution be excluded because it ‘probed too deeply into matters of a complex nature upon which shareholders cannot make an informed judgment.’ ‘In other words, PepsiCo thinks its stockholders are too stupid to understand what they are doing with the remains of aborted children,’ she said. ‘Well they are about to find out just how smart the public really is when they turn up the heat on the world-wide boycott’.”

So the battle continues. The moral of the story is this at least: the next time you are craving a cola, avoid Pepsi. And tell others about these ghastly practices. Boycotting their products should also be part of our response. Contacting them and letting them know what you think is another option. 1. Hi Bill,
Increasingly, as I read what’s going on around the world, I suffer an ever-increasing sense of unreality. Surely this is the stuff of some science-fiction horror story and I’ll wake up soon and discover it’s been some hideous nightmare!
What words can adequately describe the wickedness of a biotech company using aborted fetal cells in the research and development of artificial flavour-enhancers?
To partake of products manufactured in this manner is to be complicit in cannibalism.
    John Ballantyne, Melbourne

  2. Thanks John

Yes I am with you all the way. It does seem like one great nightmare. All the more reason for all of us to redouble our efforts here. Together we can make a difference.

    Bill Muehlenberg, CultureWatch

  3. What a ghastly story! There are two parts to it:
    1. The ethical aspect of abortion, and experimentation on fetal parts.
    2. I am amazed that the FDA allows the sale of food products containing human parts.
    What are we, cannibals?
    John Bennett

  4. Bill, I can’t find any reference to Coke or Pepsi and aborted fetuses on Snopes hoax-checking site.

I’d suggest being cautious and researching this a lot more.

    John Angelico

  5. Thanks John A

    But:
-Is Snopes the arbiter of all truth?
-The fact that they do not list it as a hoax perhaps means it is not a hoax!
-This stuff has been well-documented for years now.
-Most importantly, the companies themselves admit to what they are doing.
-Did you read my article and the two I linked to first?

All things considered, I am not sure what there is to be cautious about here.

    Bill Muehlenberg, CultureWatch

  6. I’ve recently stopped buying Coca Cola because of its recent exercise in sexually-edgy TV adverts. Anyone for Adam’s Ale?
    Geoffrey Bullock

  7. The stuff of “Soylent Green”. Where movie plot lines inspire reality. “It’s recycling to save the world right?” Not!
    Jamie Bowman

  8. Well, I didn’t know that! Will they use cells from euthanised old folk too when involuntary euthanasia becomes an institutionalised evil?
    John Snowden

  9. Dear Bill, Thank you for this informative article. The ethics of these companies are nonexistent. Pepsi is something I never drink so I don’t have to give it up but I will certainly let everyone I know who does drink it about this evil. I don’t understand how the world is escaping Divine Justice for so great an evil. Divine Mercy must indeed be unfathomable!
    Patricia Halligan

  10. John,
I recently met a man who told me he previously worked as a cleaner in a major Sydney hospital. He told me about some horrific things he saw in his work, including piles of aborted fetuses. He told me he asked staff what happens to these bodies and was told they are given to cosmetic companies for product research. I took this man’s number but he did not want to go public about this out of fear.
Who do you think I can ring to verify his story? Do you think the hospital will admit this?
Does this mean he just completely made it up?
    Possible, but why?

The progress of the pro abortion movement thrives on concealment of information. They have been the ones who have stopped the collection, publication and circulation of abortion statistics. If these things were known they would be held to account and a lot more pressure could be applied to change the laws to help women make a better choice than abortion.
Because there is no register of abortion statistics it makes it easy for pro aborts to attack and discredit pro life people who have to make best guesses of what is happening.
Just because some things have been made impossible to verify, doesn’t mean we should assume them to be incorrect. In fact, the very opposite is true. If there is nothing to be ashamed of and accountable for, why won’t they let us know the true statistics for abortion?
Why don’t they tell us where the disposed babies are sent to?
Why won’t they allow us to know how many women are having multiple abortions?
Why wont they allow women to be fully informed by independent counsellors to know all their options before they abort?
Why have they sought to legislate against mandatory waiting periods for women deciding on abortion?

Judging by their actions, I think it is very fair for us to assume that they have much to hide, much to fear and much to lose if the truth be told.

  11. Apart from wanting to vomit, there is not much more to be said. We just need to keep getting the info out to as many as possible, which is why I thank Bill for allowing the info he spends so much time, money and effort to collect to be diseminated wide and far.

I will stick to eating “real” foods, fruits, vegs, little bit of meat, and drink water from my rain water tank. Saves huge amounts of time trying to figure out which companies are worshiping Baal and which are actually guided by and observe God’s instruction manual. The old saying of “selling your soul to the devil” seems appropriate in this instance.

    Neil Waldron

  12. Annette Williams raises some useful questions. Surely staff in abortion mills who have left their employment in disgust would be sources on what is happening. There maybe sly concealment of information but there are always whistleblowers around.
    John Snowden

  13. Cannibalism, along with homosexuality and other things, is an indicator of how far a culture has fallen from grace. How much further do we need to go down the drain before the Lord says, “Enough!”

“How long, O Lord! How long, O Thou Who art just and true!”

    Lance A Box

  14. What about immunisations? They are full of aborted babies, and a whole lot of other garbage. Yet, does this stop people from lining up for them? Do people bother to find out what they are having injected into them? The answer is a simple NO.
    Robyn Grace

  15. I was wondering if Pepsi would like a blended baby perhaps these cannibals will be better satisfied. The blood of the innocent is hard to come to terms with, hard to protect. Lord may we know how to repent.
    Paul Glover

  16. I can’t believe this! I love Pepsi: I bought some just yesterday. But I’m not going to buy any tomorrow, or the next day, …

I’ve let them know how I feel. I can’t believe this is legal let alone happening.

    Felix Alexander

  17. At the end of the article from my earlier post, the author concludes with these words:

We live in a culture of death — a reality that means we truly do need labels that warn consumers: “This product was made possible by the killing of innocent human life.”

    Hear hear.

    Annette Williams

  18. Bill, no they are not arbiters of absolute truth, but Snopes and Hoax-Slayer are sites which collect and test a lot of outrageous claims. I use them as a kind of secondary check “This is so outrageous, maybe it’s a hoax” before forwarding seemingly “juicy” bits of news.

[For example, a long time ago I checked out a vile and crude piece floating around about JK Rowling being anti-Christian and writing the Potter books consciously from that angle. I found that it was in fact part of a satire from an online site called The Onion.]

The problem with some of these extreme items is that if they are false, our opponents will take great delight in portraying us as gullible fools.

    John Angelico

  19. Bill, I was reading via FB at lunchtime. So an abbreviated view only.

If the research has already been done and facts have been checked then OK.

I have now read the full article and links.

    John Angelico

  20. True or not, I will never drink Pepsi again. o one has been at pains to deny the revelation. Yes, the economy of the Western world is grinding to a halt and finite resources like fossil fuels appear to be running out. Computer technology has made much manual labour redundant. In desperate attempts to kickstart the economy we are resorting to cannibalism, buying and selling our own flesh for consumption. People earn a living from the abortion, prostitution, euthanasia, stem and foetal cell industry, backed up by “ethicists” who promote the culture of death.

We don’t need human material in a drink. Water and fruit juice is far better. It is grotesque that the foetal material is used in connection with flavour enhancing.

    Rachel Smith

  21. I just used your Pepsi link and told Pepsi that I’ll be boycotting their products because of this. I’m puzzled by their reply:

Thank you for contacting us at PepsiCo to share your thoughtful comments. We value your feedback and appreciate your interest in our products. For competitive reasons, it has been our standard practice not to comment on specific research processes; however, we do understand and are sensitive to your question. Please know that PepsiCo does not conduct or fund research that utilizes any human tissue or cell lines derived from embryos. Thank you again for taking the time to contact us.

    Pepsi Consumer Relations

How am I to understand their second-last sentence? Are they denying the allegations?

    Phil Dekker

  22. Thanks Phil

Yes they are sending that to everyone – but they seem to just be using weasel words. The actual issue, as one of the article states, is: “Pepsi is funding the research and development, and paying royalties to Senomyx, which uses HEK-293 (human embryonic kidney cells) to produce flavor enhancers for Pepsi beverages.” We need to keep going back to Pepsi and demanding unequivocal answers here, and not let them try to fob us off.

    Bill Muehlenberg, CultureWatch

  23. Bill, your response to Phil’s question related to Pepsi’s obfuscating reminds me our President over here in the USA. He wasn’t forcing Catholics to buy people the morning after pill which causes abortions. No! He was forcing Catholics to use insurance companies the President was forcing to pay for and provide the morning after pill which causes abortions for Catholics. Catholics pay or Catholic insurance forced to pay. Pepsi does the research or pays Senomyx to do it profitably for Pepsi. Got to love the straight forward answers. They sound so fiscally clever or scientifically exact. Reminds me of the intentional conflating of all stem cell research and the media refusal to distinguish between harmless and intriguingly effective adult stem cell sources and the embryonic post abortive stem cells that are not productive. The latter still have none of the miracle cures promised. Still venture capital unproductive. But apparently really useful for taste tests for Soda flavors. And this is what we are FORCED to fund on this side of the pond. Assume it is more of the same in the land down under. Criminal. Sad. Evil. Thanks for your expose’.
    Joe Whitchurch, Indiana, US

  24. Thanks Joe

Yes it is all so much baloney coming from these guys. And what really gets me is what is at the bottom of their form letters they are sending to everyone:

“DID YOU KNOW … *** All of Pepsi-Cola’s plastic soft-drink bottles contain an average of 10% recycled plastic.”

I don’t really give a rip about that. What I do give a rip about is their unethical means of making their products. What they really should have at the bottom of each email is this:

“DID YOU KNOW … *** All of Pepsi-Cola’s soft-drinks contain an average of 10% recycled babies.”

    Bill Muehlenberg, CultureWatch

  25. Ah, brave, brave new world! Barbarism, it seems, now wears a white lab coat. How science has advanced…nearer to the gates of Hell!
    John Wigg

  26. God have mercy on us all. I will pass on this sickening info of course but don’t know if I’ll be believed. I sometimes get strong hints to “lighten up” when trying to drum up prayer support or active involvement.
    Anna Cook

  27. Yes, Anna, I have met with incredulity when I passed this on. I wonder too, what is the incentive for these companies to do these things? Is it money or the promise of financial gain? As in the case of embryonic stem cells that never produced the anticipated cures, surely it was a false hope for financial gain that made people invest in these things? Have they learnt now, will they learn? It is hard to fathom the motivation of thee people?

    Many blessings
    Ursula Bennett

  28. I think some of us may need some clarification. They are not putting the aborted baby kidneys IN the Pepsi. They are using the kidneys to test the flavor enhancers that they intend to use in the products. That being said, it is still a detestable and immoral practice that needs to be stopped! I just think it is important to have all of our arrows lined up before we engage in battle, so as to not lose our credibility.
(Check out 180movie.com for a well-informed video on this modern day holocaust!)
    A Smith

  29. Since hearing about this, I have been letting heaps of people know about this. Most people, whether they are against abortion or not are still against cannibalism, especially the thought of becoming unintentional cannibals themselves.
    Mario Del Giudice

  30. Hi Bill, What a shocking story. O.K. that drink is out from now on. Whats left, can’t drink coca cola, for numerous reasons. Anyway this is a strong argument to give up on the soda pops all together. Drink pure H2O I say.
Glad I looked back over your earlier postings.
    Bill Heggers, Perth

  31. Bill,
Thanks for what your doing BUT I don’t support ending the Pepsi boycott until they stop making and selling the tainted products and are open and honest with their consumers!

What I’ve noticed since the call-off of the boycott is an upswing in their ads plus the use of popular celebrities like Regis and Shaq as well as other celebrities ads everywhere.

I believed we have been duped by their so called end to using such outrageous research and that they have simply chosen to promote their tainted products full bore.

I wrote to Campbell’s soups after they broke off their relationship with Senomyx and asked them to stop using the tainted products and be open and honest but they never responded and I will never use their products again.

As an old man who heard the stories and watched the films of the death camps and was proud of how America fighting men freed the camps, and of our culture BUT today I am sickened by every portion of the Abortion Industry and the so called “americans” that supporter this modern holocaust.

But sadly, boycotts do not work over time.

There is only one true SOLUTION to ending all of these satanic acts and that is to End Legalized Abortion – No Exceptions, once and for all, and to end all use of “abortion products” from home and abroad.

We need to vote in true “abortion abolitionists” to pass the laws and write the executive orders to end abortion and abortion products, and then clean up the mess left behind by the abortion industry.

    John Lamprey
