Some Wins on Same-Sex Marriage

It may seem like it is all bad news when it comes to the relentless homosexual juggernaut, with their never-ending list of demands to radically remake society into their own image. And the activists would like us to think that there is an inevitability about their destructive crusade.

But that is not the case, and often we see some terrific pro-family victories. Of course, given how the mainstream media is almost entirely in bed with the homosexual activists, it is very rare that you will find any of their defeats mentioned.

Instead one only hears about the seemingly unstoppable homosexual steamroller crushing everything in its path. Thus as usual, one has to look to the alternative media to learn about what is really happening in the world. And interestingly, the homosexual militants are not having everything go their own way.

While the MSM barely uttered a peep, there were in fact three recent wins which we can all take heart in. All occurred overseas, and all demonstrate that there are still plenty of folks around who have not been conned by the militants’ propaganda, and are willing to stand up and fight for what is right.

And these wins for common sense and decency occurred in rather unexpected places as well. The first case took place in Europe, and was some very good news indeed. The story goes this  way: “The European Court of Human Rights has ruled that the prohibition of adoption to non-married couples is not discriminatory, because it applies to both heterosexual and homosexual couples equally.

“It has also ruled that homosexual ‘marriage’ is not a right under the European Convention on Human Rights. The decision effectively confirms the liceity under the same Convention of French law, which does not award the status of ‘marriage’ to homosexual couples, and does not permit non-married couples to adopt children.

“The ruling was announced yesterday in a suit by a French lesbian couple, Valérie Gas and Nathalie Dubois, who have been in a Pact of Civil Solidarity (PACS) since 2002. A PACS is a loose contractual arrangement made available to both heterosexual and homosexual couples in France, in contrast with stronger ‘civil union’ arrangements and homosexual ‘marriages’ available in some other countries.

“Dubois conceived a child by artificial insemination through an anonymous donor in 2000, and the couple have been raising the child together. Gas has sought to adopt the child by recourse to various courts, and was ultimately turned down by the country’s highest court of appeal, the Court of Cassation. The European Court of Human Rights has confirmed the French court’s decisions.

“The Court also ruled that that there is no ‘indirect discrimination founded (…) on the impossibility of marriage,’ because article 12 of the European Convention on Human Rights ‘does not impose on the governments of the state parties the obligation to open marriage to a homosexual couple,’ adding that governments ‘enjoy a certain leeway in determining the exact nature’ of legal recognitions of homosexual unions’.”

Finally, a bit of sense and sensibility from a European ruling body. It may be rare, coming from that crumbling continent, but when it does come, it sure is nice to see. Let us hope that more good news will be forthcoming from Europe.

The second win comes from Slovenia and also has to do with homosexual marriage. Consider this nifty headline: “Slovenia says no to same-sex marriage.” Here is how the story has been reported: “Yesterday, Slovenia held a post-legislative referendum on the new Family Code that was adopted in the Slovenian parliament in June 2011.

“In a popular vote, 55% of voters rejected the new Family Code and 45% supported the law. Turnout was 30% on a sunny Sunday. ‘The people of Slovenia expressed their belief that motherhood and fatherhood are both unique and represent a fundamental value; for the good of a child,’ said Aleš Primc, head of the Civil Initiative that proposed the referendum.”

Hey those Slovenians seem to have a lot more sense and morality than many other so-called civilised nations. Way to go Slovenia. The final case actually comes from Russia. It seems some mental and moral firmness has found its way there, resulting in a head-on collision with a sleazy, aging, US pop star.

The story goes this way: “Pop singer Madonna Ciccone’s recent promise to ‘speak up’ for the ‘gay community’ in St. Petersburg, Russia, at an upcoming performance there, has been met by a city representative who says she will be fined if she violates a city ordinance against homosexual propaganda aimed at minors.

“The singer, whose risqué, hypersexualized performances are supported by a large homosexual fan base, made the promise after being asked by a Russian-American lesbian activist to cancel her August concert in St. Petersburg in protest of the law, which was recently instituted by the city’s government.”

One American pro-family commentator said this about the victory. The Russians are “trying to learn from America’s out-of-control pro-homosexual activism and the fact that our family law structure, our legal structure is being changed to accommodate perversion, and Christian religious speech is now suffering at the hands of this ever-expanding homosexual activism. And who could blame the Russians for trying to learn from America?

“We have a gay rights monster in our midst that continues to make escalating demands, that has seemingly no concern for religious liberty, for traditional values. Who could blame these peoples not only in Russia but throughout the world for looking to America, looking to the West and saying ‘how can we prevent this?’ And my advice to them would be: don’t let the genie out of the bottle, because another lesson from the west is that once you grant so called ‘rights’ it’s almost impossible to take them away.”

Quite so. It certainly is reassuring to know that not everyone has lost their marbles and decided to roll over and play dead before the advancing homosexual blitzkrieg. Many individuals, many groups, and even many nations are holding their nerve and resisting the social revolutionaries.

More power to them.

  1. Way to go St Petersburg. It’s very funny how, for all of their noise about supporting this and that, these pop stars never seem to cancel a concert for their beliefs.

The amount of noise (thanks to Hollywood and mainstream media who promote gay activism and a hedonistic lifestyle) from the gay brigade is astonishing, given that their agenda is continually rejected in the vast majority of countries, states and territories. The news should overwhelming be in favour of those against.

I’m hoping that this backlash in QLD is representative of a mobilisation of forces against SSM in Australia and that will be continued at the federal level. But we have to find people strong enough to wind back many of the advances that have been made in the last four years.

  2. Yes, good news from Slovenia although not as good as it might have been. The vote to overturn the Family Code was hardly overwhelming at 55% and, even of more concern, the voter turn-out is reported to be only 30%. Where were the other 70% of the citizens on that sunny Sunday? Is it safe to assume that they don’t care either way?

  3. The new Queensland government needs to repeal the legislation, passed by ALP members who were not representing the views of Queenslanders. Repeal. Repeal.

  4. Yes Graeme, my thoughts too… similarly I wonder just how many of lower and middle class suburbia actually spend any time making their voices heard in regards to SSM, abortion, Islamification etc.? Similarly I wonder just how many Australians who call themselves Christian speak up.

I would think that if we got 30% Australians actually making the effort the gay, feminist, Islamic voices would have been drowned out a long time ago.

  5. I find it odd that you would cheer a law in Russia that inpinged on free speech. Either you’re for free speech or you’re not – you cannot pick and choose what speech you like. Once you start you choose the ‘pick and choose’ path, you can’t complain when someone else than you decides they don’t like your speech and take it away.

Also, the France thing is a bit of a hollow ‘victory’ since the child still has homosexual parents.

  6. Thanks Lee

But let me call your bluff here – once again. Who says we can’t pick and choose? Of course we can, and we do it every day of the week. I have never championed absolute freedom of speech – no rational person has. There are always limits. We don’t have the right to shout “fire” in a crowded theatre, for example.

The greater good is always to be taken into consideration. And in this case the Russians were absolutely right to put the well-being of impressionable children ahead of some aging sleaze ball pop star who wants to shrill the dangerous homosexual agenda.

And of course it was far from a hollow victory in the European Court decision.

  7. Actually Lee, there are plenty examples of people, governments, & companies choosing what others can and can’t say all of the time. It’s just that this examples happens to be not in your favour. And let me remind you that your liberal friends and the liberal media are the first to shout down any criticism with calls to shut down speech. Even now we have GLAAD in the US calling for mainstream media outlets to silence the voices of a whole list of people.

Now THAT is an attack on free speech. Be careful the battles you choose to fight – you will lose that one every time.

  8. It has been said that it is better to fail in a cause that will ultimately succeed than to succeed in a cause that will ultimately fail. The road to that victory that is “more than conquering” may see us accounted as sheep for slaughter all the day long for Heaven’s sake. Still, it’s good to see that the enemy of Adam’s unhappy race doesn’t have his way at every turn!

  9. Yes Garth, Lee claiming the moral high ground on the subject of free speech within the context of the homosexualist agenda is the height of irony. The experts (and supporters) of intolerance, hatred and bullying individuals, companies, churches and governments into complete lockstep agreement have no business getting upset at a relatively minor limitation.
    Mark Rabich

  10. Thanks guys. Yes it is the secular left in general and the homosexual activists in particular who are the most censorious, most anti-democratic bunch around. As William F. Buckley once quipped, “Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views.”

  11. LOL – well it seems Madonna wont let her kids eat ice-cream or watch T.V., no doubt because of some imagined harmful influence. Yet she seems to have no problems with gay marriage or putting children up for gay adoption. So in the material girl’s ‘current truth’ ice cream and TV are bad, two daddies is good. I’d be interested in how she does the mental gymnastics to reconcile the viewpoints given the promiscuity, instability and domestic violence witnessed in gay relationships.

  12. The people of Slovenia have overturned their Government’s equalisation of same sex marriage in a post-legislative referendum. Their statement is as succinct as it is eloquent:

“The people of Slovenia has shown the government and the whole of Europe that claims for privileges for a minority cannot be accommodated at the expense of the most fundamental right of every child: the right to have a father and a mother. Those who wanted to sacrifice this right for the sake of personal privileges have been told unequivocally by the Slovenian people: motherhood and fatherhood are both unique and valued. We want marriage between a man and a woman to be protected, we want our next generation to grow up in the most favourable environment.”

They emphasise the main concern, the protection of children.

  13. Isn’t that just absolutely great! Nicely stated, exactly to the point of what other countries are sacrificing on the altar of ‘tolerance’ and ‘correctness’, and a real kick in the teeth for gay activism – now that the Slovenians have provided some real leadership at a national level, hopefully that will encourage the silent majority of citizens of other countries like Australia that the LGBT brigade are stoppable, and that we CAN roll back the contaminated tide of legislation in the interests of children and the family.

Let’s get this out there on the airwaves/net to as many people as possible as this couldn’t have come at a better time, when we need people to write letters/emails/phone/meet their MPs and be counted in the SSM debate.

  14. Catholic Bishop Geoffrey Robinson (Sydney) is reported in cathnews.com 29/3 as having given a speech to the Seventh National Symposium on Catholicism and Homosexuality (USA) urging a reexamination of Catholic teaching on sexuality. New Ways Ministry (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender etc group) were apparently behind the event. The bishop called for a new way of looking at homosexual acts. He is said to have made a gentle but elegant plea on sexual ethics. This bishop would lay claim to being a successor to the apostles. Which apostle? Certainly not Paul!
    B T Walters

  15. Oh Bill, what a sad day indeed when we have to look to Russia to lead the free world in protecting our human rights.
    Anna von Marburg

  16. Catholic Bishop Geoffrey Robinson – RETIRED, and his views were condemned by the Australian Catholic Bishops’ Conference in 2008. There’s no surprise, not since the time of Judas, when leading figures go astray. In the 300s, two thirds of the Catholic Church’s bishops went off the rails (and out of the Church), denying the divinity of Christ, which led to the Church’s Council of Nicaea. What is totally delightful is seeing God’s actions in helping us poor creatures do what the apostle Paul said, “stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter” (Thess 2:15) What a beautiful thing, this solidarity that comes from being one in mind and heart and uniting for God’s vision of marriage.
    Michael Casanova

  17. This is wonderful news. Now would be the best time to plan a Gay pride getting back in the closet day. I can picture it. Homosexuals from all over the country marching down the street, with various closets on wheels. As they move along, smile and step back into the closet and continually do this so to show how it’s done.
    Daniel Kempton

  18. Bill, this is definitely great news, even if it took the nations of Russia and Slovenia to stand firm. How ironic that our so called ‘civilized societies’ are being shown what true civilized societies should be doing, protecting our most vulnerable citizens, our children, by nations that many consider to be less civilized than most.

Speaking of being civilized, did you read the article in Wednesdays Herald Sun regarding Greens leader Bob Brown references to ‘Aliens’ having ‘extincted’ themselves? It makes for some interesting reading about the man who is most probably the ‘real’ PM. How can such a man with his mad fantasies be leader of a political party? His support of SSM and crusade to make us poorer, (carbon tax, muzzling the media) should have long ago rung the alarm bells of this mans irrationality.
