More Scenes From the Baby-Killing Wars

I am being hopeful here, but I believe that in perhaps 50 years hence, if not a bit more, people all over the Western world will look back with amazement at a culture which actually condoned, promoted and justified the killing of babies in their mothers’ wombs.

They will reflect on their recent history and be overwhelmed with the idea that people back then could be so utterly barbaric and callous. Just as we now look back with horror at how we used to treat blacks as second-class citizens, so too one day perhaps we will be appalled at how we treated unborn children as second-class citizens.

But until we arrive at that place, we must continue to fight for the right to life of the unborn. We must keep on speaking truth in the public arena, and keep seeking to raise the public consciousness about this issue. We all have a moral obligation in this regard, and I will never stop from doing my duty here.

So here are some more vignettes from the abortion wars. Most involve more bad news horror stories, but I will finish with a good news story. Let me begin with a recent account of a former abortionist, who admitted to a number of shocking cases he had witnessed or been involved in.

The most amazing of all concerned a woman who wanted an abortion so that she could fit into her wedding dress. I kid you not. The article describes a number of quite tragic cases. Let me offer three, including the bride’s story:

“Amanda, a 20-year-old administrative assistant, says it’s not the obstacles that surprise her – it’s how normal and unashamed she feels as she prepares to end her first pregnancy. ‘It’s an everyday occurrence,’ she says as she waits for her 2:30 p.m. abortion. ‘It’s not like this is a rare thing.’

“Amanda was 15 weeks pregnant and has not told her boyfriend about his child. Amanda also says: ‘I’ve been praying a lot and that’s been a real source of strength for me. I really believe God has a plan for us all. I have a choice, and that’s part of my plan'”…

“Later in the article, two other women give their reasons for having abortions. His first patient of the day, Sarah, 23, says it never occurred to her to use birth control, though she has been sexually active for six years. When she became pregnant this fall, Sarah, who works in real estate, was in the midst of planning her wedding. ‘I don’t think my dress would have fit with a baby in there,’ she says.

“The last patient of the day, a 32-year-old college student named Stephanie, has had four abortions in the last 12 years. She keeps forgetting to take her birth control pills. Abortion ‘is a bummer,’ she says, ‘but no big stress’.”

Absolutely mind-boggling. How can one account for these utter horror stories? It seems the pro-death spirit has penetrated most of Western culture. So entrenched is it that we have once wholesome organisations completely mesmerised by the pro-death spell.

Consider the Girl Scouts in the US. As one article puts it: “Who should young girls grow up to be like? If you listen to the Girl Scouts, the answer is apparently they should aspire to become Wendy Davis, the state legislator whose sole claim to fame is standing up against a bill to stop abortions all the way to birth in Texas. On December 18, 2013, Girl Scouts USA tweeted: ‘Incredible Ladies Who Should Be Women of the Year for 2013’ and asking if anyone should be added to the list.

“The link goes to a column by the liberal Huffington Post, which promotes Davis and pro-abortion activist Gloria Steinem as potential women of the year. Are these really the kind of women the Girl Scouts want young girls to grow up to be?”

Not everyone was impressed with this lunacy. One mother wrote: “As a concerned pro-lifer who supported the Girl Scout organization for many years, as a girl member and as a troop leader, it saddens me to share the fall of this once venerable organization that to this day retains the support of so many wonderful women and girls, many of whom are unaware of what they are actually supporting. But families deserve to know the truth.”

femenBut the culture of death has some really nasty, diabolical and belligerent activists as well. Consider this scenario out of Germany where “anti-Catholic leftists of FEMEN have pulled their latest stunt. A woman with the message ‘I AM GOD’ painted on her body jumped up on the altar and screamed in the middle of a Mass on Christmas at Cologne Cathedral, the home of the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Cologne and one of the tallest cathedrals in the world….

“Last week, FEMEN leader Inna Shevchenko told Metro Newspaper that while she could not confirm the next target, ‘Bethlehem can be a place for us to attack. This city can see the rebellious naked breasts of Femen.’ The reality of the threat began to sink in on Thursday, after Shevchenko ran through the Vatican City yelling ‘Christmas is cancelled,’ with the words ‘Jesus is aborted’ written across her bare chest.”

Lovely bunch. All this hatred, vileness and pro-death madness comes straight from the pit of hell. But some countries are beginning to wake up. Here is an encouraging tale of three such nations: “In the last month three countries, Russia, Spain and Norway have moved to restrict abortion.

“LifeSiteNews reports that ‘following an investigation into complaints by midwives that late-term abortions were taking place in the country in contravention of the law, the Norwegian government has tabled draft legislation that would ban all abortions after 21 weeks and 6 days gestation.’

“According to newsinenglish.no, statistics from the country’s Public Health Institute showed that from 2001 to 2009, five babies were aborted at 22 or 23 weeks. Between 2010 and 2011, 12 such late-term abortions were carried out. Some of the aborted children’s hearts continued beating for between 45 and 90 minutes after being born alive after abortion it was reported….

“Separately, on December 20th, the Spanish government agreed to roll back the liberalisation of abortion introduced under the previous socialist government that allowed abortion on demand until the 14th week of pregnancy. A draft bill approved by the Spanish Cabinet details that abortion will still be permitted in the case of rape, disability or if ‘the pregnancy presents a grave mental or physical health risk to the mother’.

“Meanwhile, Russia has not only passed a law banning abortion adverts, but PRI head, Stephen Mosher reports that ‘some members of the Duma (the Russian state assembly), are talking about going even further and banning the procedure itself.

“‘This is an amazing turn about in a country which has long been known for its tragically high abortion rate. Until recently, the average woman in Russia could expect to have seven abortions over her lifetime. Even The New York Times, no bastion of pro-life sentiment, has been compelled to acknowledge that Russia’s high abortion rate was damaging the health and fertility of Russian women’.”

So amongst all the deadly madness there are some signs of hope. Nations are beginning to wake up to the horror of abortion, and things are slowly turning around. Thus pro-lifers need to keep working tirelessly for the unborn. Who knows, in a half century from now the West may once again be known as a home of civilisation, where babies are loved and not killed.

  1. Never despair of changing public opinion…William Wilberforce did it although he faced continual opposition when he tried to overturn the abhorrent practice of slavery. Hopefully one day the value of an unborn child and his/her rights will triumph.

I am amazed at how vile, puerile, immature and disgusting some of the pro abortion demonstrators are.

  2. The Soviets legalised abortion round about 1920, recently Putin realised the Russian population was on track to fall to an alarmingly low level within the next 20-30 years. Abolishing legalised abortion would reverse matters almost immediately. It might be worth noting that the Chinese are phasing out their one child per family policy too.

  3. Thank you so very much for this honest report, I am 70 years old and have often wondered whatever happened to balanced thinking, normal behaviour. Once again, Thank You.

  4. Why can’t this Wendy change her surname? Would make me feel a little better. On a more serious note though, the lack of care from those three examples, especially the one with the wedding dress, complete and utter madness, wake up.

  5. Another element of Cory Bernardi’s book that was mocked on the ABC this morning is the section on abortion, especially when he refers to it as a form of birth control, yet is that not precisely what the women in the first story above are doing? Using abortion as a nasty form of birth control?

  6. Thanks for this summary, Bill. The biggest factor in the abortion holocaust, I believe, is the new kid on the block – atheism. The devil’s own religion.
I often reflect on what you write, that future generations will wonder why this holocaust happened. Perhaps the answer is : if people cease to believe in Christ, they begin to self-destruct (under the guise of having ‘fun’). The unborn baby is the scapegoat for the sins of lust of the parents.
Homosex is the final perversion of the procreative, God-given gift. It is the devil in full spate.
Perhaps there is a critical mass-realisation of the harm abortion does to the relatives of the slaughtered child. No fun for anyone.

  7. Many years ago, I was in hospital after having the third of six miscarriages. In the same room was a young woman who had just had an abortion. She told me it was her fourth – when I asked her why she didn’t use contraception, she said carelessly, “Oh, the pill makes me fat!
The horror of this lack of concern left me speechless. I dearly wished to have a child, and could not. Adoption was out of the question because the waiting time would have made me ” too old”.
I joined the campaign against abortion years ago, and I will continue for as long as I am able.
Thank you, Bill, for your courageous and relentless expose of this “culture of death”.

  8. Despite constantly spouting that people are born gay, the homosexual movement will not lift a finger to help the unborn.

Abortion is the equaliser for ‘marriage equality’. There is nothing you can do with sodomy to make babies, so to pretend it’s equal, you kill babies.

  9. I believe a definition of evil is the inability to feel empathy. Regarding the Femen, it is a pity they don’t try it in Saudi Arabia, Iran, or even Russia. I would have thought that there were laws against against such demonstrations of depravity, even in Germany and France. The fact that they encounter no resistance only fuels their manic lust to even more excesses. Numbers 25:1-13 describes a man of God, Phineas. What a role model!

  10. Dear Bill

Thank God for people like you who are so well informed and are prepared to write brilliant articles like this one. The sad part is so called journalists like Kate Emery who has written an article for the West Australian which I told you about would not seek them out so I am sending it to her in the hope that she will open her hard heart and closed mind!
