Abortion Regrets: What the MSM Won’t Tell You

You can count on this: the mainstream media today is in the habit of telling you what it wants you to hear, and not telling you what it does not want you to hear. Long ago impartiality, neutrality and objectivity were abandoned, replaced by partisanship, agendas, and indoctrination.

Those who control the media control the flow of news and ideas, and in contemporary Western culture the media is overwhelmingly in the hands of the secular left. They determine what is news and what is not news. Therefore those who rely solely on the MSM will never be properly informed about what is really happening.

abortion 14This is true in so many areas. Whatever agendas are found in the secular left will be found in our media. So if most folks in the media are radically pro-abortion, guess what? Our news stories will be radically pro-abortion. It will be very hard indeed to hear a pro-life story or the pro-life point of view.

One will certainly never see the graphic reality of what an abortion actually does. We may see dead and bloodied whales or seals featured regularly in the MSM, but you will almost never see a dead and bloodied baby – the real outcome of the “pro-choice” position.

Nor will you hear about all the dodgy abortion clinics and all the botched abortions and hurt women. It takes the alternative media to cover such stories. One such example is this:

Pro-lifers are declaring victory after state inspections closed a surgical abortion center in Chicago.
According to a press release from the Pro-Life Action League (PLAL), the Albany Medical-Surgical Center Family Planning Associates abortion clinic was forced to shut down after failing inspections by the state’s Department of Public Health.
PLAL Executive Director Eric Scheidler called the closure, which took place 27 years after the clinic opened, “a victory for all who value human life.”
“This abortion provider operated for years without any safety inspections, and multiple women have died following abortions performed there,” said the pro-life leader. “Now that its doors have closed, this neighborhood is safer for women and their unborn children.”
The clinic was linked in the deaths of three women between 1999 and 2000, and sued for the death of a 13-year old girl who went for an abortion in 1992.

Another story you will likely never hear is that of a woman’s regret after having an abortion. Once again, as in the following story, it takes the alternative media to reveal the truth:

Having the abortion was very traumatic for me. It is against everything I believe in. I didn’t even give myself a chance to recover, I just carried on with my life as if nothing had happened. I feel so guilty about doing this and I cannot get it out of my head. In spite of the baby being this man’s, it was also part of me.
I feel so guilty and depressed. I cannot sleep or eat and I have completely withdrawn from family and friends. I put on a brave face for everyone at work but I don’t think I can cope anymore. I don’t know whether I can ever forgive myself.

Stories like this can be heard millions of times over. But you would not know such grieving post-abortive women even existed if you just relied on the MSM. This is why the alternative media exists. This is why CultureWatch exists. We must get the truth about abortion out into the public arena.

And that is why I and others have written books on abortion, to get the truth out there. Indeed, my brand new book The Challenge of Abortion has just been released. In it I deal with all the usual abortion myths, including the myth that women do not suffer after an abortion.

Let me quote from a small part of it here:

Women do suffer after an abortion: physically, emotionally, and psychologically. A number of support groups exist around the world to help women cope with the after effects of abortion. Groups such as Women Hurt by Abortion and Victims of Choice deal with women each day who are coming to terms with their abortions.
One counsellor who has dealt with many women who have abortions says this: “One psychological effect we see almost all the time is guilt. Others are suicidal impulses, a sense of loss, or unfulfilment. Mourning, regret and remorse. Withdrawal, loss of confidence in decision-making capabilities.”
Many studies could be referred to here. One longitudinal study published in the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry found that women who have an abortion are more likely to experience mental health problems later in life, including depression, anxiety and drug and alcohol abuse.
Indeed, the list of reputable studies on this is increasing each year. As but one example, an article recently appeared which listed with full detail and documentation numerous recent studies which demonstrate the harm to women’s mental health because of abortion. Dr. Priscilla Coleman, Professor of Human Development and Family Studies at Bowling Green State University, said this about the list: “Over 30 studies have been published in just the last 5 years and they add to a body of literature comprised of hundreds of studies published in major medicine and psychology journals throughout the world. The list is provided below and the conscientious reader is encouraged to check the studies out.”

I go on in much more detail to document the tremendous grief and suffering women experience after having an abortion. This is a reality the MSM refuses to deal with. Thus those of us who care about the welfare of women and children have an obligation to get the word out.

I am doing my bit. But we all must join in and get the truth about abortion out into the public arena.

  1. Occasionally a pro-life article appears in the enemedia – as in today’s Irish Times. It says that abortion advocates may not actually want the open debate they claim to promote.

The article outlines the abortion industry’s direct illegal murder, and murder via neglect, when their procedures produce a live baby by mistake when a late-term abortion fails to legally murder the baby before it is born. Then it tells us that the abortionists’ would prefer to legally murder the baby at a younger age when they can tear it apart, dead or alive, inside the mother’s womb.

    Here’s the article:

Here’s a link to an upcoming DVD of a movie re-enacting the trial and murder conviction of Kermit Gosnell, America’s biggest serial killer” whose abortion “technique” was to have the babies born alive and then to stab them to death with scissors.

We can all do our bit by making this movie known. We must realise that there are many women grieving over children they have aborted and who need forgiveness and compassion.

  2. “… Rachel weeping for her children
    and refusing to be comforted
because her children are no more.”
[Jeremiah 31:15; Matthew 2:17f.] – one of the Bible’s most poignant metaphors: Ephraim and Benjamin’s dalliance with Ba’al, Molech and Astoreth came at a terrible price. So did Herod’s rejection of the real, infant King of the Jews.

Post-abortion PTSD is not as widely covered in the mass media as it should be. Bill, did research for your book uncover any significant collations of statistics on post-abortion suicides in women?

  3. I’ve counselled two girls who had abortions.
The first was pressured (bullied?) into it by her boyfriend’s parents, and she had major regret and sadness.
The second chose to have an abortion, and while she didn’t regret it, she did feel some guilt.
I hope I helped them both.

  4. Siblings who find out that they have lost a brother or sister to abortion feel loss as well. And I’d think a woman would be reminded almost daily about her abortion when she sees her other children thriving in life – well that IS why she had the abortion isn’t it – for the benefit of her other children? Talk about deluded.

Daniel Morcombe was a twin – and I’ve often wondered how that goes with his parents – elated when his brother achieves things in his life, but at the EXACT same time they must feel huge loss.

[I’m not trying to use the Morcombes here – it’s just that it is an insight into a loss/elation situation where one’s children are concerned. ]

Thanks again Bill for your very good work. God Bless.

  5. All your articles are reminding me of Steve Taylor songs this morning, this time ‘Meat the Press’ about the press bias.

  6. Hello Bill I just wanted to remind you of my twenty years of work with post abortive women. Or have you forgotten. Have you also forgotten Redeeming Grief, Abortion and its pain, still very current book. Indeed it is true the words of scripture about prophets and their own country. It always sounds better when we quote someone from America.

  7. Thanks Bill I quote you often you too send me a book and invoice. Anne

  8. Thanks Jane. Well, if you scroll down this page you will see it on the left! That is on amazon and kindle, but when I get back from Perth and Singapore I hope to launch it in Melbourne.
