The US Presidential Debate
A few quick thoughts on the Trump/Harris debate:
I was just asked in a recent radio interview what I thought about the much-anticipated Presidential debate in Philadelphia between Trump and Harris. I replied by saying that in short it was pretty much just what we expected. I offered some details in that interview, and I will offer some of them here.
Yes, the debate is now history. It went for a bit over 90 minutes, and it featured no live audience, and two hosts from the ABC network in America asked the questions: David Muir and Linsey Davis. As I will discuss shortly, many have claimed they were far from impartial and unbiased.
As to the debate, Kamala supporters will say she won, while Donald supporters will claim he did. And of course, overwhelmingly the leftist media also thinks Kamala was the big winner. Time will tell however if it actually changed many or any of the minds of the uncommitted voters. Most folks already know who they will vote for – if they do vote at all.
It seems to me – and it should be clear to any impartial observer – that there were two main losers here: the American people, and the network that hosted the debate. Americans are still left scratching their heads as to who Kamala is and what she in fact believes. We still have no clear answers as to what she really thinks about the issues and what she really will do.
And the ABC was also a big loser here with its blatant and consistent bias. Even the earlier CNN Trump/Biden debate was fairer and more objective than this one was. There are so many indicators of this bias:
-If any hard questions were asked by the pair of “moderators”, they were asked of Trump, and not Harris.
-If any ‘fact checking’ took place by the hosts, it was aimed at Trump, not at Kamala.
-When attacks took place by the moderators, they were attacks on him, not on her.
-Kamala was treated with kid gloves.
-She was never grilled on why change is now needed, given that she and Joe were running the country for the last four years.
-She was never grilled on her flip-flopping on just about every issue.
-She was never challenged on her obvious falsehoods.
-She was not challenged on not holding one press conference for 52 days now.
So it was a typical lamestream media “debate.” It was not a one on one debate, but a three on one debate. All she did was regurgitate her memorised slogans, cliches, platitudes and talking points. As usual, no real substance and no real clear answers were presented as to how she will fix the mess she and Joe have caused.
What we had here was her being holed up in a mock debate in a mock studio for nearly a week, preparing for this debate. So we simply saw her well-rehearsed and rehashed lines on display there. Once again, she was totally protected by the machine from having to be fully honest to the American people.
But Trump was doing what he always does: he holds one public meeting after another, one interview after another. He talks to ordinary American people, listens to their concerns, and answers their questions – all things that Kamala refuses to do.
And anyone familiar with the facts will know that Kamala threw out one porky after another, one lie after another. ‘He will implement Project 2025’ was just one of many. ‘He wants a national abortion ban’ was another. ‘I do not support late term abortion.’ ‘I do not want a ban on fracking.’ On and on it went. Tell a lie often enough… But that is how she and the Democrats operate. They are specialists at this.
Trump simply had to point to her record. The truth is, Trump is rightly proud of his record. But Kamala is running away from her record and trying to pretend she has always been some sort of wonderful moderate. Yeah right. And her gaslighting about the border, about immigration, and the current situation in America was painful to listen to.
Amazingly, she really expects us to believe that Americans are better off today than they were four years ago. Spare me. People know what is in their wallets – or what is not there. As Ted Cruz rightly quipped, “Nobody but a Mexican drug lord is better off than four years ago.”
And all she could keep saying was it is time to turn the page. Um, she and Joe WROTE the page! Good grief. Which is it Kamala? If the present is so bad, then who is responsible for that? And if the present is so peachy, then why is change needed?
Much more could be said about the debate, but four other commentators – all females – can be called upon here. Christian commentator Megan Basham (whose new book I recently wrote three articles on), tweeted this:
Whatever other analysis comes out of tonight, here’s what will not be forgotten—@DavidMuir, @LinseyDavis, and @abc are a disgrace. And they owe the American people an apology for using this event not to ask substantive questions about issues that voters care about, but to showcase their personal political biases against @realDonaldTrump.
Commentator Megyn Kelly tweeted this: “These moderators are a disgraceful failure and this is one of the most biased, unfair debates I have ever seen. Shame on you @ABC.” She then added this: “When he scores a point they make sure she gets another bite at the apple. Must be so nice to have the moderators running cover for you as a candidate. Makes it so much easier.”
Kayleigh McEnany, former press secretary to Donald Trump, tweeted this:
ABC should be ASHAMED of themselves.
Where was the question for Kamala about casting the tie breaking vote for inflation (American Rescue Plan etc.)? Where was the question for Kamala about wanting taxpayer-funded gender transition surgeries for illegal immigrants? Where was the question about Tim Walz allowing babies born alive after abortion to die in Minnesota and then removing reporting requirements?
NONE – they only prepped TRUMP FACT CHECKS!
And let me close with the words of one Australian woman that I happen to know who just posted this on the social media:
Back when I was a young posturing feminist in my late teens and early 20’s, I used to insist that women could do anything a man could, and to prove it I would join in footie with the blokes (I got hammered BTW and soon left the game injured).
Anyway, way back when feminism had her claws in me, I am sad to say that I would have been so excited about the idea of Kamala Harris becoming President of the USA and that, if I were a US citizen; I would have voted for her, not because of her policies – I wouldn’t have cared less about them, not because of her political history or ideology – I probably wouldn’t have known what that was, not because of her strength of character and convictions.
But way back when I was a feminist 25-30 years ago now, I would have championed Kamala Harris for one reason and one reason only – she is a woman. I sure hope the young women in the United States make their voting decisions more wisely than I would have in their place.
I hope that these young women have more depth to them than I did and that they actually look at the ideology Kamala was brought up under and espouses, they look at all of her policies, they look at her history in politics and as a lawyer – they look at her legacy as VP over the last 4 years – past policies implemented and what they meant to US citizens and on the world stage, and most importantly they look at her strength of character on the international stage and her character personally – who does she align herself with, what does she align herself with; what are the underpinnings of Kamala’s smile and laughter – of her womanhood.
I hope and pray that the young women of the US vote with reason, logic, wisdom and integrity and with their eyes open, and the young men as well, men and women of all ages, and that no woman votes for Kamala merely because they are a feminist and she is a woman.
Yes thanks for that Rissa. You are quite right.
One final point. Soon after the debate Kamala said she might do another debate. But as had been pointed out, usually it is the loser in a boxing match that demands a rematch. We shall see what follows. And maybe one day they could try holding a debate with Fox News instead of the usual lefty outlets. But we won’t hold our breath on that one.

A true account Bill, thank you.
Did Kamala know the questions prior to the ‘debate’? It seems that her replies were so rehearsed.
You watched the debate so I don’t have to. Thank you for the analysis.
Joe Biden Kamala Harris and the Democrats are a joke and are an embarrassment and are a disgrace. They are also corrupt and they are evil and they are immoral.
Thanks guys. And I am getting a number of comments coming in to my site saying he is too old and too infirm and is a fool and an embarrassment and an imbecile and incompetent and not able to hold office. I of course fully agree – we have all known this about Biden for years now, despite Kamala, the Dems and the media covering up the story. But then it turns out these angry commentators are referring to Trump. Ha, gotta laugh! These are the same leftist loons who never once said a word about how unfit Biden was to lead the free world. The Dembots keep putting their foot in their mouth. I will take Trump any day of the week over these trolls and their preferred candidates.
I think Ben Shapiro was right to add that Harris succeeded with the game plan to bait Trump and lead him down many rabbit holes, and that Donald should have begun with his closing remarks–they had almost four years to do all the things she now plans to do. However, having rewatched some of the debate, I think Donald actually addressed more questions than Harris and with substance.
Thank you Bill for highlighting what truly happened at that shonky debate. I loved your quote from that Australian women we happen to know in our circles.

Thanks Bill for all the info as I haven’t got around to listening to the debate but just bit and pieces. Now it looks like Kamal had microphones as ear rings as other people have them and someone has said she had privy to the questions beforehand to practice her replies…no wonder Trump has now said he wont have another debate with her.
