The Islamic Republic of Britain

Is the UK now too far gone?

All around the world we are witnessing the possible end of Western civilization because of self-loathing, woke politics, victim culture, mass migration, and an unwillingness to call out our enemies. This is causing chaos and carnage all over the West.

Many of course have spoken about this and sought to sound the alarm. As for Europe as a whole, here are just three books that I reviewed on this:

Bawer, Bruce, While Europe Slept: How Radical Islam is Destroying the West from Withinhttps://billmuehlenberg.com/2007/03/27/a-review-of-while-europe-slept-by-bruce-bawer/

Murray, Douglas, The Strange Death of Europehttps://billmuehlenberg.com/2017/12/03/islam-immigration-death-sweden/

Murray, Douglas, The War on the West https://billmuehlenberg.com/2022/06/07/a-review-of-the-war-on-the-west-by-douglas-murray/

As for Britain in particular, here are two further volumes along with my reviews:

Phillips, Melanie, Londonistan: How Britain is Creating a Terror State Withinhttps://billmuehlenberg.com/2006/08/31/a-review-of-londonistan-how-britain-is-creating-a-terror-state-within-by-melanie-philips/

Goodwin, Matt, Suicide of a Nation: Immigration, Islam, Identityhttps://billmuehlenberg.com/2026/03/23/the-suicide-of-the-uk/

Needless to say, countless articles have also been penned on this. One of the newest is this piece by Janet Levy in the American Thinker: “The Islamization of Britain is Almost Complete”. The entire article should be read, but I can offer a good portion of it here. She begins:

The British Empire was the largest in history. With colonies on every continent, it covered more than a quarter of the earth’s land and governed over a fifth of the world’s population. Besides dominating military, economic, diplomatic, and political affairs, it transformed the world by spreading Western values, customs, and culture, as well as ideas such as individualism, rationalism, capitalism, and modern scientific thought. That influence continues in the educational, legal, and parliamentary systems of many countries.

But Britain is now a shadow of its former self, having allowed its institutions, the media, academia, and the public to be heavily influenced by Islam, which the late Christopher Hitchens described as “the most toxic form that religion can take.” Fashionable deference to Islam—the government, for example, treats even the most innocuous criticism of Islam as “hate speech”—has caused a noticeable shift in power, identity, and influence, and it may not be long before Britain becomes an Islamic state.

The Muslim population is projected to exceed 8% by 2030. There are over 2,000 mosques, more than 85 sharia courts challenge British common law, sharia finance is growing in popularity, halal food is widespread, and the government recognizes Islamic holidays with an enthusiasm that would shame many Muslim countries. Iftars are hosted at the House of Commons, and Ramadan prayers are offered at Windsor Castle, a symbol of Britain’s historical pre-eminence.

There seems to be an endless supply of examples of this:

Guidance documents for schools from Labor-run city councils in northern England warn educators that drawing and music lessons could be considered blasphemous to Islam. The Green Party of England and Wales plans to change school curricula to teach children that it is their moral duty to welcome immigrants. In the name of raising awareness about a religion from another culture, children too young to question their teachers are being brainwashed.

While the authorities go out of their way to accommodate Islam, they have no hesitation about attacking Christianity or being lenient with those who criticize it.

  • Hatun Tash, a Turkish-born British citizen and former Muslim, was arrested twice for preaching Christianity and criticizing the Quran at Hyde Park’s Speakers’ Corner, a stronghold of free speech. Ironically, she was the victim in these incidents and has been stabbed and beaten by Muslims more than once.

  • Daniel Ayettey, a pastor, was pulled off a ladder and threatened with a knife by a Muslim asylum seeker from Sudan who had 29 previous convictions for 67 offenses. The attacker was spared jail by a judge.

  • A police officer instructed a group of gospel-sharing Christians to stop their activities.

  • A preacher was detained for questioning a Muslim woman about Quranic verses related to domestic violence.

  • Christmas markets across the UK were canceled in 2025, with city councils claiming they lacked funds, while money was allocated for Ramadan and Eid celebrations nationwide.

She looks at more alarming cases of Islamist influence in the UK and then concludes her piece with these words:

The extent to which the British government is willing to accommodate Muslim practices is clear in its choice to normalize cousin marriage, ignoring scientific evidence that shows it increases the risk of inheriting recessive disorders. According to a Bradford study, the rate of cousin or relative marriage among immigrant Muslims reaches as high as 46%. This practice is banned in Norway and most American states and is set to be banned in Sweden. Last year, Conservative MP Richard Holden proposed a bill for a similar ban in the U.K.

But the National Health Service (NHS) has directed its doctors and nurses to stop issuing blanket discouragements against the practice to Muslim families. They were informed that giving such advice is “unacceptable.” It even published a report—now withdrawn—praising the “benefits” of cousin marriage, and advertised for nurses to support families choosing close-relative marriages. Holden was outraged that public funds were being used to address a custom that should be banned outright.

As conservative commentator Patrick West writes in The Spectator: Should British culture be allowed to be diluted by a “self-abasing and cowardly coterie of white liberals,” all in the “dread names of multiculturalism, diversity, and inclusivity”? Can the British public genuinely support the idea that Muslims need special laws and protections in addition to those protecting other citizens?

How much longer before the once-greatest empire on earth is surpassed by Islam? https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2026/03/the_islamization_of_britain_is_almost_complete.html

There is no shortage of those who are seeking to rouse a sleeping Western public to the very real threats they now face. The question is, will enough Westerners wake from their slumber, or will they sleep through their own demise? Time will tell.

A friend sent in a comment to my recent review of the Goodwin book expressing his deep despair over all this. My reply to him might be worth sharing here in conclusion:

“Yes, the situation is very bleak indeed. Were I not a Christian, I might be tempted to think that it is now all pretty much of a lost cause. But God… As long as God is in control, and as long as God’s people pray all they can and work all they can, we just might – by His grace – see things turned around. Let us labour toward that end.”

  1. Family First founder, Lyle Shelton recently reiterated, “We are governed by fools,” while the victorious South Australian premier, Peter Malinauskas told Monday’s Australian (23/3/26) that “One Nation used immigration fears to win votes” and went on to justify immigration on economic means, because “if we get the economics right then largely the overwhelming majority of Australians appreciate living in a multicultural society.” No mention of scaling back current levels for infrastructure or vetting Muslim extremism, just massive spin.

The “largely… overwhelming majority” is a populist term, couched in hyperbole, yet One Nation is derided for being a populist party. The Premier is confused and contradictory. Victorian Liberal leader Jess Wilson tells us not to “waste protest votes” on One Nation, while former Labor Party President Wayne Swan heads up a company selling Cape Flattery silica to China and the Greens are all at sea.

Increasing numbers of Australians support One Nation because their leader says things like “I’ve had a gutful and we want our country back.” Elitists like Malinauskas and Wilson et al, are out of touch and any amount of spin won’t bring their feet back to earth.

The Spectator recently touted the idea of the Libs, the Nats and One Nation forming an alliance as the Opposition Coalition which would end the myopic sniping and dividing and take the fight up to Labor. In the same edition, it was reported that the PM “signalled he was ready to attack Senator Hanson head-on, claiming that there were “political forces” that sought to turn the clock back to the days of the White Australia policy.” This is worse than spin. It’s almost unhinged.

Shelton is correct. Hanson has sounded an alarm that is being heard in Australian parliaments and throughout the nation. In the immediate lead-up to WW11, Churchill did the same while Chamberlain sought appeasement and now Great Britain is in trouble again. Who can they call this time? In his history of WW11, Churchill described a spiritual line running through the country after its troops were successfully repatriated from Dunkirk. A country that rejects its Christian foundation will suffer Great Britain’s fate.

  2. I agree, the situation in UK and Europe is depressing Bill. Its worse than Australia but we’ve had machete attacks in Melbourne and Bondi shooting etc as a warning too. Darker coloured people usually need more sunlight than white people to obtain Vitamin D so living in UK and Europe is not a good idea for dark coloured people. And marrying cousins is not a good idea as blindness, deafness and other abnormalities can happen.
UK, Europe and now Australia and probably NZ and America, Canada have let these Islamic people in to help them if they are refugees, but its as if it is being designed that way to get rid of our Christian western culture/upbringings. Instead of learning English and our way of life these people have brought their own religion and culture that will inevitably take over our Christian foundations and we will end up like the countries they came from. Thus God told the Israelites in the Old Testament that He would help them eliminate all the people living in the promised land as God only wanted people who would worship Him living there. God is showing us what these people are like and if we don’t heed the warnings then we only have ourselves to blame. However, if we don’t change people’s thinking, the govt will stay the same as its the people who vote in the govt. Thank God that Australia has One Nation speaking out and in UK, the Reform Party. Let’s pray and hope people will rise up and take back our land and culture just like America is.

  3. As I watch events unfold here in the UK I am saddened by the number of Christians who support the Islamisation here, even to the point of having Imams conduct Muslim services in Churches. Fed by the biased BBC and other MSMs they think that they are doing the Lords work by welcoming strangers, while others know the danger and fear speaking out are feeding the crocodile.
I hate to say it but major civil unrest lies ahead. Prof. David Betz has already spoken publicly on this.

  4. A local preacher friend in the UK said some years ago that God’s honour would be at stake if He did not destroy us. The vote in the House of Lords for abortion up to birth reminded me of this.
I see that some bishop is saying that the Islamic worship you show above is evidence of our hospitality. I wonder if he has heard of the ancient story of the Trojan horse.

  5. People also need to look at Britain’s royal family (and all the royal families of Europe) as also allowing what is happening in Britainstan now. The King has long held a mutual admiration society for islam and even had one participate in his coronation service. People also forget what Charles did as he reached the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Westminster Abbey as he was leaving his service (surely wasn’t God’s service). Go back and watch the recessional and see what Charles does as he moves to a group to his left.

  6. Is the UK now too far gone? In a word, yes.

    — although I do find it highly ironic that the PM wants to have the UK rejoin the EU given that its parliament just voted to export Muslims out of their countries.

Meanwhile…when your major cities have Muslim mayors and local law enforcement is weaponized to protect atrocities and persecute infidels; when the most popular name for newborn boys is Mohammed; when the government has pro-Islamic cadres operating within it; when the national Christian church is apostate; the time for “conservativism” is long gone, the Restore Party notwithstanding. (Unfortunately for them, the de-industrialization of Britain is also too far gone for any real change or revitalization.]

How do Christians possibly respond? Well, it is indeed awful to witness the dismantling of cultural institutions founded on the faith, but even they cannot become conservative idols. Sometimes, Christians just have to be cultural subversives once again. Fortunately there’s evidence of actual conversation and faith in the midst of these circumstances across Europe.
