They are not even trying to cover up their hatred:

By now it should be clear to the whole world that the left is ever eager to extol its self-proclaimed virtues of love, tolerance and acceptance. But those virtues are never found when an “enemy” dies. Whether it is the attempts on Donald Trump’s life, the murder of Charlie Kirk or Ann Widdecombe, or the death of Lindsey Graham, the celebrations and joy displayed by leftists is so very telling indeed. No wonder Jesus said we will know people by their fruit.

They can talk all they want about how we need to get along, ‘turn down the temperature,’ and how ‘language is violence’ but it seems violent rhetoric is the stock in trade of the political left. They just can’t help themselves. They spur on political violence every time they open their mouths, and then they cheer the results when a conservative or Christian is murdered. These are evil and sick people.

Ann Widdecombe

Let me look at just one example. Ann Widdecombe was found murdered in her Devon home last week. It did not take long for the lefties to pop open the champagne bottles. For example, homosexual activist Peter Tatchell tweeted this:

Tory ex-MP #AnnWiddecombe is dead!

She opposed every gay law reform for 40 years, supporting every legal discrimination against LGBTs

She also backed bids to ‘cure’ homosexuality & said people should have the right to discriminate against LGBTs

BIGOT!

He has since deleted his tweet. And consider the deplorable remarks of this trans activist:

A transgender former Labour candidate who celebrated the death of Ann Widdecombe and prayed she had ‘screamed in agony’ is now being investigated over the comments. Heather Herbert, a web developer at Aberdeen University, relished in the ‘good news’ of the former Tory MP’s death in a vile post on BlueSky.

 

Both police and her employer launched an investigation after the comments, posted before news of the murder probe broke, were reported by members of the public. But Ms Herbert later doubled down, insisting she was ‘glad [Ms Widdecombe] was dead’ – even after deeply distressing details of the 78-year-old’s murder emerged. The hard-Left has been condemned for seeking to use Ms Widdecombe’s death to score political points.

 

Piers Morgan described the backlash as ‘despicably cruel, heartless and abusive’, and said it had reminded him ‘that the least kind people on earth are ironically those on the #BeKind woke Left’. Ms Herbert, a former Labour candidate for Aberdeen Donside, wrote: ‘Some good news for once. The biggest group of haters out there seems to be those who most pontificate on love and acceptance.

For those not in the know, let me speak a bit more about her. She was a well-known politician and television personality in the UK. She was a Tory MP in the 1990s, and in the 2020s joined up with Nigel Farage and Reform UK. She was an outspoken and brave conservative warrior. She was also a convert from agnosticism to Anglicanism, and then later to Catholicism. She opposed things like homosexual marriage and was a very committed pro-lifer.

But with her death still being investigated, it seems we now have a case of terrorism. Says one news report:

The death of Ann Widdecombe is now being treated as terrorism, police have confirmed. Counter-terrorism police are leading the investigation into the 78-year-old’s death after “new information and evidence has come to light”, Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTP) said.

 

Miss Widdecombe was found dead at her home in Devon on Thursday July 9, after sustaining serious injuries. Police believe she was killed nearly 24 hours earlier, at around midday on Wednesday July 8. A 28-year-old white British man who was initially arrested for murder on Saturday has been re-arrested on suspicion of commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism, CTP said.

 

Devon and Cornwall Police previously said there was no suggestion “at this stage” that the alleged murder was politically motivated. However, Reform sources questioned at the time whether the suspect may have been motivated by Miss Widdecombe’s politics. Tom Slater, editor of Spiked Online, said this about leftist hate and violence:

So we’re all clear now? It’s okay to celebrate the death of an elderly woman, provided she is right-wing. It’s okay to jump on a mainstream news channel while her body is barely cold and talk about how she was a ‘spinster’, an ‘old maid’ and probably a virgin. It’s okay to call her a bigot, too. But that one probably went without saying….

 

This socialism of ghouls is something we have grimly come to expect. Today’s leftism has been infected by a hysterical intolerance and adolescent misanthropy that flares up whenever someone on the right dies – even when they are assassinated. The Socialist Worker also responded to the cold-blooded murder of American conservative activist Charlie Kirk with an article titled, ‘Charlie KKKirk’s chickens come home to roost’.

 

What was perhaps more surprising was Adam Boulton’s despicable mutterings on Sky News. Filling time in between police updates, the long-time political journalist felt moved to call Widdecombe a ‘spinster’ and an ‘old maid’ and re-air claims she was a virgin – a topic the fiercely private, devotedly Catholic Widdecombe refused to address publicly, despite endless prurient interest. https://www.spiked-online.com/2026/07/11/rip-ann-widdecombe-and-shame-on-her-haters/

And Christian commentator Dr Gavin Ashenden said this in part about her murder, comparing the situation to that of murdered man Henry Nowak:

We are going to use our common sense, because one of the problems we face at the moment was foreshadowed by Southport. When Southport happened, it was almost as if the people of this country had finally had enough. Some of them went online and said things for which they were jailed.

 

The police told lies to us about who the suspect was. We stopped trusting the police, if we had trusted them before. I made a small video the other day saying that, with the record of the police at Southport, with their arresting Henry Nowak for his own murder, and now with this attempt to arrest, quote, “a white man”, they only ever give us the skin colour if they want to distract us from the skin colour.

 

It is a form of inverse racism. So they tried to put the lid on everything by saying: “We have arrested a white man.” A couple of hours later, they quietly released the white man. Now they have found another white man, and they will not tell us anything about him at all. They want to keep the lid on the situation, but the lid will come off.

He continues:

In that case, it will turn Ann Widdecombe into a kind of martyr for us: an unlikely Catholic martyr for the truth, or a political martyr for the old ways. What will we do if we discover that she was assassinated because she dared to speak out for our way of life?

 

There is nothing to be gained when human beings express themselves through violence, apart from self-defence. But we have come to the point where we need self-defence.
