Christian Mission and Islam
How should Christians deal with the Islamic onslaught?
It should come as no surprise that far too many people do not really think very much. They might emote a lot and they might basically run on feelings, but they do not exactly spend much time in careful study, reading, reflection and critical thinking.
Sadly this would be true of far too many Christians as well. While they have an authoritative and comprehensive guide on the big issues of life – the Bible – they either are not reading it or not taking it seriously. They too can simply let emotions be their guide, and so often they just carelessly follow along with whatever the world does and says.
And they can be just as beholden to the lamestream media as are non-Christians. I hear too many believers simply parroting what they seem to have gotten from the New York Times, The Guardian, or the Sydney Morning Herald. Careful reflection and critical assessment are replaced by swallowing the pap of the secular left.
This is certainly the case when it comes to things like Islam, Israel and the Middle East. Thus too many of them seem to be completely blind to some basic truths, such as:
-Israel is not the enemy.
-Israel is the freest and most democratic nation in the Middle East.
-Islam has had a 1400-year track record of conquest, colonisation, imperialism, bloodshed and violence.
-Islam has killed some 300 million people during this period.
-The officially declared aim of Islam is to see all infidels killed or brought into submission, with sharia law and a universal caliphate ruling over planet earth.
-Since 9/11 of just 25 years ago, there have been over 50,000 deadly Islamic terror attacks around the world.
Yet far too many Christians are completely clueless about these realities. And often, they might have good intentions but are completely wrong in their understanding of biblical Christianity. They will say that we must never criticise Islam, because we might turn off Muslims and not be able to readily share the gospel with them.
This is my take on such a claim. Because I am a Christian I do indeed pray for individual Muslims and seek to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with them. But that does NOT mean I must love Islam or in any way condone what is the world’s most murderous and satanic death cult.
But undiscerning Christians think that any criticism of this political ideology somehow means we are not being Christlike and that we are hindering our mission to reach them. Sorry, but that is as helpful as saying that the prophets of old should not have criticised the idolaters, false prophets, and false religions of the day, for fear of making them resistant to the truths of Yahweh.
It is as helpful as saying that Jesus should not have said such mean things to the Scribes and Pharisees, because he might have turned them off. It is as helpful as saying that Wilberforce should not have so strongly condemned slavery, the slave trade, and the slave traders, because that might have kept them from receiving the gospel.
Um, sorry, but standing against the evils of the slave trade – or things like abortion today – IS part of sharing the gospel. Calling out false prophets, deceptive religious leaders, and pagan religions IS part of sharing the gospel. Failure to do so is a failure to convey urgently needed biblical truth.
As I have said so often before, the Christian has a twofold response when it comes to Islam. We are to love Muslims, but we are also to resist Islam. It might seem hard to do, but we must do both simultaneously. Both are imperatives for the believer.
So we stand up for freedom on the political level and resist stealth jihad, while loving and reaching out to individual Muslims, bringing Christ’s message of salvation to them. To warn about the very real dangers of political Islam and creeping sharia does not mean we don’t seek to reach out to our Muslim neighbours with love and the gospel.
But, but, but…
And yet, we still have some Christians who will insist that our only job is to pray for Muslims and share the gospel. And many even claim that we should welcome them into Western nations by the millions, so that we might more easily reach them. I recently spoke to this in another article:
It is easy enough to respond to that objection. First, I suspect that a good 95 per cent of Western Christians are not sharing the gospel with anyone, let alone Muslims. Second, a whole lotta Muslims arriving in the West ARE engaged in dawa, or Muslim mission, to reach and convert Westerners. Sadly, they tend to take their faith a lot more seriously than most Christians. So it is mainly all one-way traffic here when it comes to spreading religion in the West.
It is one thing to encourage believers to pray for and reach out to their Muslim neighbours if they have come here legally, and have made it clear that they accept – and do not reject – the host country’s values, culture and beliefs. But far too many Muslims coming to the West certainly do NOT want what the West offers, and are looking to destroy the West and turn it into another Islamist hellhole. Christians are under no biblical obligation to put up with that….
With things like the internet now with us, many (most?) Muslims in Islamic countries can get some access to the truths of Christianity online. Indeed, many of these Muslims are coming to Christ simply via dreams and visions. Sure, we Christians are still called to take the gospel worldwide, but the need to have the West welcome with open arms millions of Muslims so that we might ‘win them for Christ’ is now no longer as necessary. https://billmuehlenberg.com/2026/06/22/is-this-the-end-of-europe-and-the-west/
The truth is, Christians also have other biblical responsibilities. Resisting evil, standing up for what is right, and protecting the innocent are all part of this. As I said, we can and should do both. Praying for Muslims must be supplemented by resisting the horrific evils they are perpetrating right now. This is vital.
How many more 9/11s must we idly sit by and watch? How many more October 7s must take place? How many more Christian killing fields as in Nigeria must occur? How many more flydubai flight hijackings must we put up with? How many more churches burned to the ground should we tolerate?
How many more Muslim grooming gangs can we allow? How many more child brides and wife beatings should we countenance? How many more suicide bombings and vehicular jihadists must we put up with in the West? How many more Western cities must come under sharia law until we wake up and speak out?
Sorry, but if your idea of Christianity is to keep your head in the sand and wink at all the diabolical evil that is happening every single day in the name of Islam, then your idea of the biblical faith is different from mine. But thankfully many other people seem to be aware of what is going on.
Less than a day ago I posted something on X that I wrote, feeling so very grieved in my spirit about all this. I did not think it would get much attention, like most of my other posts. So I was quite surprised to find that in just 20 hours or so it had been viewed some 30,000 times, and liked and shared thousands of times. It seems to have hit a nerve. I had said this:
If you are not utterly shocked, incredibly saddened, and massively disturbed by how Islam and Communism are destroying the West, you are morally, intellectually and spiritually dead. This is the greatest civilisational struggle of our lifetime. There is no place for fence-sitting here. You are either resisting this satanic takeover, or you are part of the problem.
Sure, that is not the whole story. The bigger story is that God exists, we are lost sinners, only Christ can save us, and we are involved in spiritual war. So praying against demonic Islam is part of our task. But resisting evil and standing up for righteousness is also a part of the Christian’s calling.
At the very least, sounding the alarm about the real nature of Islam, and resisting it on political, legal, ideological, social and other levels is part of our job as well.

Thank you for speaking out against this evil that continuously creeps insidiously through the West, so many are frightened to stand up and speak the truth. Shame on our Churches for lack of guidance at this time, though some preachers are being incredibly brave like our Rev Chris Wickland. (on youtube)
The West has turned away from the Light and is therefor heading into the darkness.
Many thanks Jim.
