OK, time for my weekly round-up of the tolerance brigade. The trouble is, this really needs to be a daily round-up, with so many cases of anti-Christian bigotry and blatant bullying from the homosexual militia. This group, known for shouting the loudest about tolerance, is not very eager to actually extend tolerance.
What these activists mean by tolerance is that everyone must tolerate, accept, endorse and favour what they are up to. However, if anyone dares to not bow the knee to this militant social engineering agenda, then they must be shown not tolerance but hatred and persecution.
Examples of this are legion, and I can only highlight a few recent examples here. Let’s begin in the American state of Washington where the militants are once again using the heavy hand of the law to persecute and prosecute those who insist on remaining true to their own conscience.
The report begins: “The attorney-general in the US state of Washington has filed a lawsuit against a florist who refused to provide flowers for the wedding of longtime gay customers, citing her religious opposition to same-sex marriage.
“The state’s suit against Barronelle Stutzman of Richland, owner of Arlene’s Flowers and Gifts, came just days after the attorney-general’s office wrote to ask that Stutzman reconsider her position and agree to comply with the state’s anti-discrimination laws.
“‘Under the Consumer Protection Act, it is unlawful to discriminate against customers on the basis of sexual orientation,’ Attorney-General Bob Ferguson said in a statement. ‘If a business provides a product or service to opposite-sex couples for their weddings, then it must provide same-sex couples the same product or service.’
“JD Bristol, attorney for Arlene’s, said his client has many customers and employees who are gay and the claim that she is ‘discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation is nonsense. This is about gay marriage, it’s not about a person being gay,’ Bristol said. ‘She has a conscientious objection to homosexual marriage, not homosexuality. It violates her conscience’.”
So much for freedom of religion and freedom of conscience. Case two comes from Northern Ireland: “Amnesty International and a Northern Irish homosexualist campaign group, Rainbow Project, have announced plans to collaborate in an effort to create legalised gay ‘marriage’ in the province through the courts.
“The two groups have vowed to bring a human rights legal action against the Northern Ireland government ‘on the basis of inferior treatment of same sex couples in Northern Ireland with regards to the right to marry and found a family.’
“As with the 1967 Abortion Act, Northern Ireland would be exempt from Westminster’s same-sex ‘marriage’ bill that was passed in the House of Commons in February but is still in committee in the House of Lords. Patrick Corrigan, program director for Amnesty in Northern Ireland, told the Guardian newspaper that a lawsuit is ‘inevitable’ because international law is ‘clear’ that individual territories must provide marriage if the rest of the country does.”
And there you thought AI dealt with real cases of persecution around the globe – nope, it is just another lefty trendy activist group, pushing things like abortion rights and the homosexual agenda. Case three involves the US state of Michigan:
“This week, controversy erupted at a public high school in Michigan after former presidential candidate Rick Santorum was disinvited from giving a speech to its students because he supports traditional marriage.
“The Young Americans for Freedom chapter at Grosse Pointe South Public High School invited the two-term U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania to give a speech on ‘leadership’ and secured school approval for the visit. But Grosse Pointe Public School System Superintendent Dr. Thomas Harwood canceled the speech on Monday because of Santorum’s rejection of gay ‘marriage,’ according to Breitbart.com.
“After outcry from the group of teens who raised the $18,000 necessary to bring Santorum to their school, the district relented and will permit the speech to go forward. However, students will now need a signed permission slip from their parents to hear from Santorum, implying his views are offensive or potentially harmful to young people.”
Yep, in today’s PC and pro-homosexual climate, to dare to speak on behalf of traditional marriage and family is a potentially revolutionary act, and all parents must be warned about such evils lurking in their children’s schools. Our final example comes from the UK:
“In 2010, high school science teacher Robert Haye was dismissed from his position at Deptford Green School after he responded to questions from high school students aged 15-16 by saying that homosexual activity is a ‘sin.’ Teaching authorities subsequently banned him ‘indefinitely’ from teaching at any high school in the country, a ban that was later endorsed by Education Secretary Michael Gove.
“A London High Court rejected Haye’s appeal, saying that his comments were ‘inappropriate’ and that he was guilty of unacceptable professional conduct, the campaign group Christian Concern reported, noting that this is the first case of its kind…. Haye cannot apply to return to the classroom for two years.
“In his judgment, Mr. Justice King said that teachers must present positive information on homosexuality ‘to enable students to challenge derogatory stereotypes and prejudice,’ and that this policy reflected ‘modern British values of tolerance.’ He said Haye’s appeal was ‘misconceived and must fail.’
“Robert Ogilvy, Haye’s representative in court, said that the ban is ‘fundamentally unreasonable, unfair and disproportionate’ and violated his client’s freedom of speech and religion.”
Hey thanks judge – yes we can all see how this reflects “modern British values of tolerance”. Anyone who dares to take a non-PC line will be fired immediately, and his voice forever silenced. Yep, love seeing that tolerance in action. Up till now I was not all that clear on just what tolerance looked like, but with these examples, it is clear as can be.
Tolerance today means just one thing according to the secular left brown shirts: agree with me or else.
