6 More Cases of Moronic Moonbattery: The World Is Going Insane

Moonbats everywhere!

A number of years ago I was asked to contribute a chapter to a book on conservatism and politics. Although the book never seemed to eventuate, my subject was to have been political correctness. Now, defining the term and explaining how it came about is one thing. But the real way to discuss this issue is to simply provide examples of it.

But even back then there were thousands of examples to choose from. How much worse is it today, with tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of examples. This website has likely featured several hundred cases of mind-numbing and soul-destroying political correctness.

And with the cancel culture, with wokeness, with identity politics, and with victimhood mentality, all this is just being ramped up to the nth degree. Every day we hear of some new bit of utter insanity being pushed and promoted by some academic, some politician, some corporation, some Hollyweirdian, or some government.

If you happen to be a Christian, you know exactly what lies behind all this. The enemy of God – Satan – hates God and his people and is working overtime to destroy everything that is good, that is moral, that is sensible, that is godly, that is right, and that is virtuous.

And if you are not a Christian, you still have this old saying to latch onto here: “Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad.” This version of the saying, I am informed, is spoken by Prometheus, in the 1875 book of poems The Masque of Pandora by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Either way, the West is being destroyed from within by a tsunami of madness, idiocy and stupidity. A war has been declared on morality, on reason, on common sense, and even on things like biology and reality. That is not a good place to be in.

If a book were to be compiled highlighting even a fraction of all this, it would be a massive, multi-volume affair. There is simply no end to it. Here I want to look at just six of the more recent examples of this. They involve the Muppets, Dr Seuss, Mr Potato Head, Coke, toy stores, and basic biological truth.

The Muppets? Yep, afraid so. As one news item reports: “Now even The Muppets are branded racist: Disney slaps popular show with an alert about ‘offensive content’ and it can only be seen on an adult account.” https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9282625/The-Muppet-comes-alert-offensive-content-Disney.html

Hey, makes perfect sense to me Disney. Idjuts! But wait – there’s more. We now must be very wary of Dr. Seuss. Yes he too is now evil. Consider this report:

A US school system will shift its focus away from Dr Seuss after a study found the popular children’s books displayed “harmful and stereotypical Orientalist tropes”. The Loudoun school system, in the US state of Virginia, triggered the debate after it revealed it had called on its institutions to promote a more diverse group of books to kids. https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/parenting/school-life/dr-seuss-celebration-dropped-after-books-found-to-have-racial-undertones/news-story/81f7d2297e46f9fc607f9917e7619f7b

My American friend and poet Tom Graffagnino said this about Dr. Seuss not being suitable for ‘culturally responsive learning’:

Dr. Seuss, The Grinch is trolling….
Deconstruction is his game.
Christmas?….That was just for starters.
Western Culture is his aim.
Sorry, Seuss,…he’s got your number.
Yes, he’s coming after you.
You can’t fool the Grinch forever.
(Even if you voted blue.)
* * *
“Tolerance” takes on new meaning
When the Grinch strolls into town.
Yes, his plans are quite progressive….
“Let’s just burn the whole thing down!”

Or as Mark Steyn said to Tucker Carlson:

They’ve done a survey and concluded that only two per cent of the characters in Dr Seuss are persons of colour, and they find this problematic. I actually find the word ‘problematic’ problematic, because its become a way for social justice warriors to label anything they don’t like without actually engaging in it in any coherent way. There may be all kinds of reasons why only two per cent of characters in Dr Seuss are persons of colour. There’s not a lot of same-sex marriage in Jane Austin. There are very few Muslims in P. G. Wodehouse. Authors generally are entitled to write about the characters they want to write about. https://www.foxnews.com/us/loudoun-county-public-schools-dr-seuss-racial-undertones

Not to be outdone, American toy-maker Hasbro has now decided that Mr Potato Head is far too sexist and that it is quite unacceptable to consider him to be a male. The memes came out fast and furious over that one. One said this: “I can’t believe I’m living in a world that is reassigning the gender of a plastic potato.” Or as another one said: “Imagine being so unhappy with your life that you’re offended by a plastic potato.”

Thankfully after a massive public backlash, the toy company had a change of heart, and is now going to keep the spud just the way he is: “Toy giant Hasbro sparked outrage after revealing one of Toy Story’s best-loved characters, Mr Potato Head, is no longer a male. However, the change was quickly ridiculed worldwide and Hasbro has now released a statement claiming Mr and Mrs Potato Head ‘aren’t going anywhere’.” https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/parenting/kids/mr-potato-head-goes-gender-neutral-drastic-change-to-toy-story-character-ruthlessly-mocked/news-story/1d1615e849666132bcab5d5c47c38736

Coke is also in the running for the ‘nutter of the year’ competition. As you likely heard by now, a training seminar has told Coke employees to work on being “less white”. Yes those knuckleheads at Coke actually said that. As one meme making the rounds rightly says: “I don’t know how to be less white. But I do know how to drink less Coke”.

Or as another one put it: “Coke is asking people to be less white. What would happen if black people were asked to be less black?” And Piers Morgan, of the UK television show “Good Morning Britain,” tweeted that “woke imbeciles are destroying the world.” Quite right Piers.

And check out what is now being pushed in California – a land long known for being a place of fruit and nuts: “California bill would force toy stores to be gender-neutral to avoid prejudice against the ‘non-binary’.” As the story goes:

The California State Assembly will be considering a new bill that forces department stores to rearrange their toy sections to ensure that they are “gender-neutral.” The bill was put forward last year by Democrat Evan Lowe, who says he got the idea from a female staffer offended by the fact that her daughter had to get a toy she wanted from the boys’ section. https://thebridgehead.ca/2021/02/25/california-bill-would-force-toy-stores-to-be-gender-neutral-to-avoid-prejudice-against-the-non-binary/

Good grief. But if many of these examples seem just be more maniacal moonbattery, it should be pointed out that they often have real – and harmful – consequences. My last case makes this clear. A student has been kicked out of university for daring to insist that biology is real – for daring to say that men are men.

As one headline put it: “Student Suspended From Education Program For Saying, ‘A Man Is A Man, A Woman Is A Woman’.” https://www.dailywire.com/news/student-suspended-from-education-program-for-saying-a-man-is-a-man?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=dwbrand

Hmm, dare to affirm basic biology and dare to stand up for reality, and your academic career can get wiped out in an instant. But given that all this madness can drive us, well, mad, let me end on a positive note, with just one recent example of a bit of common sense. Here is the encouraging headline: “Miss USA Can Reject Applicants Who Aren’t Biologically Female: Judge”. This is how the news report on this begins:

“The Miss United States of America is able to only accept biological females, a judge ruled last week. U.S. District Judge Michael Mosman, a George W. Bush appointee, said the pageant organization can’t be forced to let transgender women participate in its pageants.” https://www.theepochtimes.com/miss-usa-can-reject-applicants-who-arent-biologically-female-judge_3716244.html

Hmm, maybe there is a bit of hope yet.
