Four More Years of Hard Left Rule: Why Do the Wicked Prosper?

Every time a decidedly evil, ungodly and immoral politician or political party wins office, I ask myself questions such as the one found in my title. It is an oft-heard phrase found in the Old Testament. And these are the sorts of questions all true Christians should be asking at times like this.

I not only ask such questions, but I feel sick in my stomach. When I see wicked men strutting their stuff, proud and arrogant, smirking as they think they are getting away with evil, I am reminded of Isaiah 3:9: “The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them!”

And I wonder why evil is allowed to go unchecked, why people are so blind as to elect such reprehensible individuals and parties, and why God allows all this to happen. And I grieve deeply for how much worse things will get – spiritually, morally, culturally and politically – when such ungodly rulers get voted in.

With Dan Andrews and Labor getting back in for another four-year reign of terror in Victoria, I just groan within and get on my knees and cry out to God about all this. I do it because I understand that politics is important, and I understand the teachings of Scripture, including the biblical truths that “righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34).

I do it because I care greatly for the sort of world my children and their children will have to grow up in. I do it because I know that things will simply get much worse, and all that we care deeply about will be further attacked, undermined and destroyed.

The culture of death will simply get worse. The assault on family and children will get even more pronounced. The early sexualisation and politicisation of our children will go from bad to worse. The attack of freedom of all sorts will escalate. Christianity itself will become even more a target of the militants.

I care about all this and it grieves me deeply. And I wonder why so many Christians do not seem to care. It seems they could not care less as evil triumphs and wickedness escalates. Worse yet, how many Christians actually voted for the ungodly and immoral policies of the Greens and Labor?

Victorian election results: the political

Obviously I am writing hot on the heels of today’s state election. Dan Andrews and Labor have been returned to do even more evil. While the final numbers are not fully clear, we know that the Liberals have not succeeded in replacing this diabolical government.

The situation is this. Prior to the election this was the state of play. The two Houses of Parliament have 128 Members in total:

88 in the lower house (Legislative Assembly)
45 Labor
37 Liberal/National
3 Greens
3 Independent

40 in the upper house (Legislative Council)
14 Labor
16 Liberal/National
5 Greens
2 Shooters, Fishers, Farmers
1 Conservative/Independent
1 Reason
1 Local Jobs

Now we seem to have something like this for the 59th Victorian Parliament, as seen in the Legislative Assembly results:

61 Labor
23 Liberal/National
2 Greens
2 Independents

Politically, the short story is this: there were big swings to Labor and away from the Liberals and Nationals. It is a bad night if you are a conservative or a Christian. As I have written before, the Libs were certainly no panacea, but they would have been far better than the current mob.

They had plenty of shortcomings, but at least they would have put a check on some of the evil Labor policies, and rolled back a few, such as the devilish “Safe Schools” program. But that is not to be, and the radical left agenda of Andrews will now further spin out of control.

Victorian election results: the spiritual

Spiritually, the short story is this: it seems the less Christian Australia and Victoria become, the less conservative they become. The more secular Australia and Victoria become, the more leftist they become. The two seem to go together, and we are on a real downward spiral.

One can also argue that most folks – including most Christians it seems – really do not care about the things that matter. As Francis Schaeffer put it decades ago, all that matters for most people is personal peace and affluence. That’s about it sadly.

I mentioned above that often God’s people asked God why evil seems to triumph. Many such verses can be mentioned here. A few of them would be the following:

-Job 21:7 Why do the wicked live on, growing old and increasing in power?
-Psalm 73:2-5 But as for me, my feet had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold. For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. They have no struggles; their bodies are healthy and strong. They are free from the burdens common to man; they are not plagued by human ills.
-Psalm 94:3 How long will the wicked, O LORD, how long will the wicked be jubilant?
-Jeremiah 12:1-2 You are always righteous, O LORD, when I bring a case before you. Yet I would speak with you about your justice: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the faithless live at ease? You have planted them, and they have taken root; they grow and bear fruit. You are always on their lips but far from their hearts.
-Habakkuk 1:13 Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrong. Why then do you tolerate the treacherous? Why are you silent while the wicked swallow up those more righteous than themselves?

As it became clear that we would have more disastrous Labor rule, my mind turned to the ancient Israelites. They too experienced this. Prophets like Jeremiah warned them that their sins – unrepented of – would of necessity lead them to divine judgment.

The dreaded Assyrians and Babylonians – at the time perhaps the most wicked and blood-thirsty nations around – would be used by God to judge Israel. While most folks deserved their fate, there would have been some devout and godly Jews who bewailed all this. They would have been asking God the hard questions.

They would have cried out to Yahweh, asking why HIS people would be so severely judged, and why such godless, pagan nations would seem to so thoroughly triumph. Well, we know the story: we know that these times of judgment and exile were temporary.

We know that eventually the Jews were able to return to their land and rebuild. Yes, much was lost, and much had to be done – they had to start over in so many ways. And that too may be our fate. Thus the godly amongst us will cry out to God. Our hearts and spirits are utterly devastated.

‘Why God do you allow such evil and wicked rulers to get away with murder?’ And that is literally what this government is doing with its diabolical abortion and euthanasia laws. They ARE getting away with murder, and blood is on their hands. And God will not hold them guiltless.

But if the Lord should tarry, eventually this government will come to an end. Perhaps more godly and principled politicians and parties will arise to take their place. As I keep saying, politics alone cannot save us, but a return to less evil rulers will be a step in the right direction.

And in terms of the bigger picture, one day ALL the rule of evil will come to an end. One day all these politicians will be judged. One day the wicked and the arrogant will no longer flourish. Yes it hurts terribly in the meantime if you are a child of God, and you ache with what breaks God’s heart.

In the same way Christians and others suffered horrifically under godless Soviet communism for some 70 years. How many were killed, tortured, imprisoned and exiled by this monstrous regime? Millions upon millions. People cried out: “Where are you God?” But eventually the wall came down and the evil empire came to a crashing end.

One day the Andrews’ empire of evil will end – as will all wicked human rulers and nations. Yet, in the meantime the godly amongst us will travail in pain, crying out to God for mercy. We will be asking, “How long O Lord?” We will grieve and hurt, and feel overwhelmed at times when evil comes in like a flood.

But we will also know what God promised in that passage (Isaiah 59:18-20):

According to their deeds, accordingly He will repay,
Fury to His adversaries,
Recompense to His enemies;
The coastlands He will fully repay.
So shall they fear
The name of the Lord from the west,
And His glory from the rising of the sun;
When the enemy comes in like a flood,
The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.
The Redeemer will come….

  1. Dear Bill,

I have heard that there is a silver lining to this Liberal defeat.

It is that Religious Conservatives led by good Catholic husband-and-wife Marcus Bastiaan and Stephanie Ross will now be able to purge all the left wing pro-fake marriage “Liberal” MPs and at the next election the Liberal Party will field a true conservative, Christian, pro-family, pro-marriage candidates, and God-willing take back government with Godly candidates and policies.

I live in NSW and I can only pray and wait for the day the Liberal Party here gets a cleaned out like that.

    God Bless!

  2. Much needed comment Bill.
I saw the former Chair of Catholic Education in Wodonga celebrating the demise of the marriage sacrament in Federal Parliament. Evil has snaked its way in our midst. Catholics (& therefore Christians) in Wodonga over the last decade have succumbed.
A small case in point. We will re-group.

  3. Thanks Michael. Well, so far the ALA candidates have managed to get just 580 votes in the lower house. So going by that, it seems that none of their candidates will be getting in in either house.

  4. The historian and moralist, who was otherwise known simply as Lord Acton, expressed this opinion in a letter to Bishop Mandell Creighton in 1887:
“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.”
Given what we know of and have seen of the corruption of Andrews and the Victorian left of the ALP and coupled with a probable Victorian ALP controlled Federal government under Victorian Bill Shorten, I fear the worst for Victoria and Australia as the Fabian cancer spreads. But these Godless leaders won’t be able to control their lust for power and they will be the authors of their own destruction. As is always the case the various ALP factions
will fight over the spoils of power and, like the Rudd government, will be brought down from within.
Let’s hope not too much irreversible damage is done to society in the meantime.

  5. Cheer up, Bill. It’s the way of secular politics. Guys like Bob Santamaria woulda grieved deeply, many times, too. Christians can only lament, pray, and do what they can, but in the end we can only trust in God, live as we should, and take the long view: in the end, God wins.
We survived the Rudd/Gillard reigns. We’re heading for another federal eclipse. Most States have become Labor/Green atheist hotbeds. Fact is, the period of peace since 1945 is abnormal. The shock of a major war and maybe subjugation may be needed to reintroduce reality. But one way or another, God wins.
I’m reading ‘The Rise of Christianity’ by Rodney Stark. I reflect that those early Christians would have had few concerns about changing politics through their beliefs – until Constantine. And I’m not at all sure the institutionalisation of Christianity as the Approved Religion was good. Just take an honest look at Church history and the current quality of Church hierarchy!

  6. Hi Bill,
Thanks for everything you do. Standing for truth and righteousness can be very lonely.
    God Bless.
    Kyle

  7. I was emerged in your words and your obvious sorrow and had to remind myself I was not reading one of the books of the Old Testament prophets. Western civilization is indeed in for more troubled times.

  8. Bill I applaud you for your boldness for standing up for your faith and godly values.

Today I called the AOG church to enquire on whom the body of Christ is VOTING for. ..I choose to vote whom the Body of Christ is voting for. ..then God is responsible to perform His Work!! and change things for His glory… THE CHURCH Must JOIN TOGETHER AS WE ARE THE LARGEST BODY ON EARTH AND WE ARE BIGGER THAN THE GOVERNMENT AS GOD IS ON OUR SIDE!!

  9. Michael, ALA has media hostility reducing primary votes, while the iniquitous Vote-1 Above The Line system results in ALA receiving the second worst preference flow from other parties, 17th worst out of 18, Liberal being worst. Hence ALA will be excluded and their votes distributed to others very early in the count.

Some comment after endured the Australian ABC election coverage tonight, and receiving an anonymous note in my letterbox – a hazard of ‘Authorising’ a pamphlet. It is clear that the electorate sees Victorian Labor ‘progressive’ stance as good: “a party that protects the rights of women, the LGBTi community and all Victorians” (Anonymous note).

Daniel Andrews commended the electorate for “rejecting the low road of fear and division”, talked of “opportunities in life” and bragged about being “the most progressive government in the most progressive State … that governed for all Victorians and (gave use) better schools, hospitals, infrastructure and … jobs …” Earlier, his health Minister praised ‘Safe Schools’. It all sounded good. But what about the tens of thousands of unborn babies murdered every year in Victoria, made worse by The Victorian government allowing abortion up until natural birth. The loss of life is huge. Abortion is by far the single largest cause of death in Victoria – comparable to the migrant intake, and double the death rate due to cancer etc. And what about increased risk of sexual grooming of children due to the ‘Safe Schools’ programme, which encourages teachers to help kids change sex with or without parental knowledge or permission?

So what do we learn from this?
We are not getting the message across. Why have we failed? One of many reason is that we avoid the truth for fear of being branded as bigoted homophobic haters. Is not the truly loving approach to warn of the truth of the dangers of ‘gay’ lifestyle and gender change?

The truth is that many reputable studies show that LGBTQI lifestyles are detrimental to adults and kids, and Same Sex Marriage makes life worse for children with married SS parenting. Similarly it is clear that transitioning sex/gender often leaves the unfortunate person worse off with no reduction in suicide rate.

Yet we often studiously avoid the truth. E.g. some leaders in the NO SSM campaign asked me to remove sections of my “SSM Yes Or No?” pamphlet that included the downsides and risks of SSM and gave references.

Whether we get flak or not we need to present the truth with love. How will they be set free if they are not allowed to hear the truth?

  10. It is indeed a tough time in Victoria. As you correctly point out, politics cannot save a nation, but righteous government is always better than the example that has been elected now.

Praying, and continuing to witness, hand out tracts, and being models of right living in our families and workplaces are what we can continue to do.

It does seem that many people are blind, but I suspect that is more due to their own actions, not because they haven’t had the truth. (Paul makes that clear in Romans 1.) Men and women with be without excuse on judgement day and I am always reminded by Jesus own statement that the days leading up to His Second Coming will be like the days of Noah. Whether that is because the church has become too weak, or the church subsequently becomes stronger is perhaps a matter for a debate another time, but regardless of which one it is, wickedness will grow to unimaginable levels (like the election of this government). That is a revealed prophetic fact by Jesus himself. That said, we must continue to share the good news and make disciples because this is what God has instructed us to do. I happened to be in Sydney this week over from New Zealand for work, and so I took to the City to hand out Christian tracts. It was hard going and I fear for the crowds and their mostly dismissive attitude to the Gospel.

God bless you Bill and all the contributors here.

  11. I fear matters in Victoria are going to become exponentially worse as decent people decide enough is enough and choose (if able) to relocate to another State that have not yet followed down the same path as the “Cultural Marxist Paradise” known as Victoria. All the people of Victoria did yesterday was to give even more power to Trades Hall, Socialist Alliance and all the other God hating deviants. Until fairly recently, you could travel anywhere in this land and you knew you were in Australia. Apart from little nuances, education, laws, customs were all the same. Time will tell whether our Federation will still exist in 50 years time or whether there will be distinct separate “countries” made up of very different people with very different sets of values and beliefs. As for me and my family we don’t belong here, we’re just passing through, doing the best we can with the Lord at the head of our table. It greatly saddens one to realise how many young souls are going to be robbed of their innocence and eternal life as a result of yesterdays election. Prayer, prayer and more prayer. Thank goodness the Lord can remove all the barriers Satan and his minions try to establish. I do though foresee we will see the need for Christians to get out of providing education and even health, as impossible restrictions are placed on our ability to provide these services without removing Christ from the cornerstone of those services. Sadly, we took our pieces of silver from the Government and that has given them far too much say in what Christians can teach and do in Christian schools and now hospitals (forced abortion). As Christians we have some challenging but opportune times ahead, to say the least.

  12. In America, the same political sway is observed. I come from the Christian Conservative Right, and I have also seen evil there as well. Both the GOP and the DEMs here are filled with greed and they continue to isolate themselves with the forces of corporatism – so that our fate seems to head to the same doom regardless of which captain is on the bridge. I voted for Trump because I saw him as the “brakes” against globalism which stands in direct opposition to the US Constitution. But for a moment here, Let’s consider this piece from an ardent Danish-German Christian of pre-World War 1. This father-son theologian pair would become the forerunners of progressive Christianity – without the intent to do so but like Luther they had followers who run “too-far” with the torch.

    Written Pre-World War 1; Germany

“… the Socialist movement is like a fiery sign from heaven warning of the coming judgment. And if Christian society is faced with a judgment, rather than becoming proud, let it consider well what truth there is in that which mounts the attack.

Yes, greed is the root of all evil! And it puzzles me that this truth is not more sharply felt. The truth is that our generation is perishing in its acquiring of money and its desire for money. Today nothing stands more high and holy in our eyes than speculation about money. Even among the wealthiest, many suffer from this burden; they take part in self-serving works of charity and yet are unable to be of real help to the miserable. True help will be brought only by the Christ of the all-encompassing End.

And now an organization arises, born out of bitterest need, and struggles toward this end, toward redemption from this world of money, this time of gold. And who would prevent me from giving this organization a hand in the name of Christ? Who will blame me for declaring the truth of those people’s clear witness that we are on a downhill road, of their hope that in spite of all our present decadence we are coming to a better time, a time in which it will truly be said, “Peace on earth,” a time giving birth to those who un understand what life and salvation mean? Such is the goal of God’s kingdom on earth, of the God who is a redeemer for all humanity.”

~ Christoph Blumhardt (1842-1919); A Blumhardt Reader (Collected Writings)

  13. It is all relevant.

We get the government (leadership secular and otherwise) we deserve.
(They are a reflection of the state of the people of Australia)

We can see how far we have fallen  as a nation and a people.

These leaders we have, are our just deserts.

    Terry.

    Woe to us.

  14. Hi Bill
    Two Bible verses stand out for me at this time after the election results;

    2 Thess 2
Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, 2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of [a]Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first….

    2 Peter 2
For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them.

  15. “Why do the wicked prosper?” Surely you know the answer: for the wicked to prosper, all that is necessary is for good people to do nothing.
I will come out straight and say it: Christians do not vote properly. They vote according to the hip pocket, rather than morality. Remember: in order to control the political system, you do not need 50%; you only need to control the swing vote. In other words, if politicians knew that, if they proposed immoral laws, they would be guaranteed to lose (say) 10% of the vote, and thus fall below the 50% threshold, they would stop proposing immoral laws. After that, we could safely go back to voting according the hip pocket with a clear conscience.

  16. If the heat is turned up quickly perhaps the frog will wake up and jump out of the pot.

  17. Thank you, Bill.

You put into clear words what I tried briefly to express on my FB post last night, and have since updated my post with your link.

I wept as I read your words, my heart was breaking, and my mind was in disbelief, in response to the election results, and feeling betrayed by fellow ‘christians’ who frivolously voted without doing any research. Their shallowness, and disobedience to God has so disheartened me. I hope and pray that these ‘christians’ wake up and realise what they’ve done, and allow God to transform their hearts and minds.

  18. Thanks Fran. While we may be in the minority, I realise that many believers right now are weeping and crushed in spirit. But we press on by His grace, until we may be the last man standing. Bless you.

  19. You say, “I do it because I care greatly for the sort of world my children and their children will have to grow up in. I do it because I know that things will simply get much worse, and all that we care deeply about will be further attacked, undermined and destroyed.” That is the right motive, Bill. It is the reason I wrote a novel about the sort of world the current trends are leading us into, ‘BATTLE for TRUTH’ for young (and not so young) adults, sub-titled, ‘Resisting the Future One World Government’. Most churches don’t want to know about it. You can find out more by contacting me.

  20. All religious faith aside Bill, this result is a reflection of the ignorance of the great unwashed! Go no further than the homosexual marriage vote! The only way to educate people is to expose the scientific data!

  21. Thanks Gary. Of course with three books and many hundreds of articles on this, I have done plenty to share the scientific data. But most folks do not care about that sadly, and no amount of facts and evidence seems able to change their darkened hearts and minds. So we must present truth, and also pray for spiritual transformation. They go together.

  22. I am not surprised that the Andrews government got back in, but the margin: wow! We don’t live in Victoria but we could see what was happening. Dan Andrews was rolling his pork barrel around everywhere. A billion dollars here; a couple of billion dollars there, and so on. And the people fell for it!
I didn’t hear much coming from the Liberal Party leader, Matthew Guy. Is that his name? Maybe the press were giving him a bad time, but at least he could have made a big fuss about all the money the Labor Party were throwing around, that they didn’t have. Who is going to pay for all these outrageous promises? The people, of course, through increased taxation.
Getting back to cultural, ethical and moral values, I can see that very little attention seemed to go on the issues that mattered most. I did not hear anything about abortion, euthanasia or safe-schools coming out of the Liberal camp. Maybe it did, but it certainly was not reported in the national press that I read. Does their leader have a backbone?
I feel sorry for you Bill and other Christians who now are going to have a harder time living in Victoria. I pray that the people of Australian wake up before other states go the same way.

  23. I admit to finding this election result incredible. My condolences to all true Victorian Christians. I am from Tasmania and now find myself praying hard for the protection of my son and other family members when they need to visit Melbourne. It is like a very bad nightmare. Obviously the Liberal Party needed a hard knock to have any chance of waking up to themselves.
There are two points I would like to make.
1.There is an underlying agenda for all the culture wars that are represented here. We all know that there is a conspiracy fact of good versus evil. This conspiracy fact, in our time is represented by the UN’s Agenda21. We will never prevent the collapse of the house until we eliminate the white ants. Check out this precis – http://www.connectingtheagenda.com/2013/11/a-critical-analysis-of-agenda-21-united.html The author concludes, ‘The flame of liberty is dying, as a collectivist world government is being set-up right in front of our eyes. Only an informed, and educated, public can prevent this.’ An excellent website is http://www.rosakoire-bgm.com/index.html by Rosa Koire. Rosa is a lesbian so obviously there will be some differences in opinion. However, this does not affect the research presented here which is first class. She is a most engaging speaker. She has also written a book called, The Green Mask.
    2. Our work remains the same but now with particular emphasis on protecting the vulnerable, especially our children. A few ideas to be going on with – give time and money to Christian schools, set up scholarships for those who are unable to afford fees, set up work for fees, expand home schooling options. Utilise your home to the maximum, be hospitable, you never know who you will influence for good. Plod on.
Bill, I thank you for all your amazing work. I hesitate to give you something else to look at but have decided to be bold and courageous. Bill please check out Agenda 21. (some references above) There’s another great book to buy!

  24. Thanks Peter. Yes prayer is needed now more than ever in these exceedingly dark days. Satan is running around unopposed it seems, while most churches are absolutely asleep and apathetic. This will not always be the case, and one day our lord will return and set things aright. But in the meantime massive damage is taking place.

  25. I find I could fill a book on reasons why Victorians voted labor back in as a majority instead I’ll keep it short. When a majority of churches, christian schools, christian institutions and Christians in general continue on for many years to be silent on abortion, homosexual marriage, “unsafe” safe schools, euthanasia, gender fluidity, religious freedoms & every other evil thing that rears its ugly head against the teachings of Jesus Christ evil will eventually reign as is the case now.

Truth, integrity and moral compass disappear from the market place inc the political arena where its desperately needed. Truth then becomes whatever people start believing it to be when pagan marketing and worshiping of idols through cultural Marxism, msm and other indoctrinates their whole being for lack of hearing Christ crucified inc faith and works in action in that marketplace.

If we think the State election result is a disaster ponder the chaotic result of a federal labor win early next year! With our backs against the wall and wolf at the door we Christians only have 1 option to consider now. UNITE AND FIGHT then fight some more!

    I’ll leave it there with God’s direction through His Word – 1 Peter 4:17 & 2 Chronicles 7:14

  26. I have utilised the Victorian election disaster to make a few points to our Tasmanian Premier. In Tasmania, the Liberal Speaker of the House, Sue Hickey has voted for ‘gender free’ birth certificates.
    To: Premier Will Hodgman
Speaker of the House – 28 Nov, 2018
I am highly concerned at the antics of the new Speaker of the House, Sue Hickey. I do not understand why someone with views that align with the Green/Left has been allowed into the Liberal Party. I understand even less why she has been given a deciding vote as Speaker of the House. This is like a fox in charge of chicken rights or like a Malcolm Turncoat running the Federal Liberal Party. Does your government need a crash like Victoria to wake up?
It is bad enough that Labor/Greens are successfully white-anting the foundations of our democracy, but that it should be allowed in the conservative party is sheer lunacy.
I would encourage you to check out these sites to see what is happening right before our eyes.

Thankfully, Cory Bernardi has made the right decision.
    Yours sincerely,
    Gail Foster

  27. What decision is that Gail?

The only recent decision by Cory Bernardi I know about is that AC will not run candidates in any election that isn’t the Federal Senate election.

Don’t get me wrong. I love Cory. I’m Catholic and would vote for his party any day of the week, but the problem is we can’t.

AC merged with Family First and Australian Christians. They were both big in state politics, sometimes holding the balance of power, and then Cory pulls the merged party out of state politics.

    WHY??????????????????

  28. Thanks Michael and Gail. Yes, sadly AC did not run any state candidates (claiming lack of funds, personnel, etc). But they had a terrific candidate in Rachel Carling-Jenkins who left the DLP and joined Cory’s party. But they basically abandoned her in Victoria alas, so she had to run as an independent, and regrettably seems to have lost her seat.

  29. Like so many others I despair of what is happening. Daniel Andrews says he is thinking of his children. But what is missing here? I sometimes think I am just not understanding the times. It seems that the “progressives” are always winning. We conservatives are left to pick up a few crumbs. In Qld the Premier said the other day one of her proudest achievement last year was abortion law reform! In Tasmania they have a Liberal Government with one of their members as Speaker with a casting vote. What a mess. But lets work hard to keep Labor out of power in Canberra. That’s the big game. Unfortunately the Australian Conservatives won’t cut it. And One Nation is worse. We must do all we can to get a Centre Right Liberal Government elected. And pull out all stop to stop minor parties from controlling the Senate which is clearly undemocratic.

  30. Thanks John. Yes, we still have much work to do. Now is not the time to bail out, but to redouble our efforts.

As to the children of dodgy Dan Andrews, he sends them to Catholic schools! That way they do not get exposed to the satanic “safe schools” crap. Hypocrisy much!? He is in so many ways the epitome of evil.

  31. I was pondering what to write on my timeline Bill when this came along. Perfect, and duly posted. Thank you.

  32. Hi Bill, the result is not altogether unexpected given the current state of apathy within churches to ‘not get involved in politics’, yet didn’t Jesus rebuke the lawmakers of His day? I have at times questioned the lack of direction from the pulpit, or willingness to discuss the evils being perpetrated in society, being told that we are to remain A-political.

With attitudes like this, it is no wonder we have the government we have, it is the one we deserve and yes God help us for the next 4 years as true Christians face even more adversity and hatred.

We need to unite and use the enemies own tactics to claw back lost ground. I thought the AC’s would be the party to lead the change, am I wrong? Please comment.

  33. Thanks Fred. The Australian Conservatives are concentrating of Federal Senate seats, so had nothing to offer for Victoria’s state election. See some of the comments above.

  34. After volunteering to distribute how to vote cards for for other candidates in previous elections, this time I took the huge step of actually running for Parliament as a candidate for Labour DLP. I’m going to remain involved in the party. I refuse to accept that social conservatism is a dirty word, or that (evangelical) Christians shouldn’t be involved in politics.

I take solace from Daniel Andrews’ gloating in an interview, mocking Victorian Liberal president Michael Kroger. His hubris will eventually be his undoing, like many other Premiers and Prime Ministers before him.

  35. Trouble with our political system is that Godless Socialists can promise the world without knowing how to pay for it with impunity knowing , in their minds, that they’ll never be required to account for their lies- to the Godless there is no divine judgement. However, the conservative God-fearing politician (yes they do exist) cannot in all conscience, promise that which he/she knows they can’t deliver- so its down to the cargo-cult mentality of the great unwashed who will, naturally vote for the party which offers the most booty. Pork-barelling Dan knows this. Trouble is, when Victoria goes pear-shaped and he retires, he won’t be affected courtesy of his generous, indexed parliamentary “pension”. Will he be able to live with his legacy- probably.

  36. Thanks Bill, you’re a great champion of righteousness. What a privilege to swim against the tide with wonderful people such as yourself. In the end we will see Psalm 37 come to fruition in Victoria and the nation. Be blessed mate, Peter

  37. Gav and I reading Ezekiel 13 were encouraged by the Lord’s promise to bring to account those in the churches and also in positions of power that He is against devises and techniques to hunt down souls and victimise with clever words confounding and confusing good people and the unsuspecting with lies making it easy for them to persist in their evil so that it even wouldn’t dawn on them to turn to God or to sound teaching and truth. We remembered the words of the poet Yeats again that civilisation is in danger when the worst are full of passionate intensity and the best lack all conviction. Thank you for you honest article Bill.

  38. Thanks Prue. If you look up his name in my search thingee you will see plenty of hits! I cannot repeat all that here. Briefly, he was not my first choice (Cruz was) and there were real concerns with him earlier on before the election. But I sure am glad Hillary did not get in, and he has done a number of good things since taking office. But perhaps he is still a divine reprieve, and the US may well still deserve the just judgment of God. In the same way, had the Libs gotten in in Victoria, I would not have seen it as some great victory, but more as a temporary reprieve. Australia, the US and the West look to be toast, and the Saturday results in Victoria seem to be part of God’s judicial abandonment of a sinful people. The godly remnant remaining will have to suffer along with everyone else alas. Indeed, they will grieve over all this the most.

  39. Deceptive Dan keeps on saying that he will govern for all Victorians. That is a lie. I have written to him several times and asked for $15 million for a Christian Pride Centre the same as he has given $15 million to homosexuals for a Homosexual pride centre.

As yet I have not had one reply from him. In fact, I have not had a single reply from any labour politician I have written to.

  40. Bill, you are spot on where you reply to Gary:
” … no amount of facts and evidence seems able to change their darkened hearts and minds. So we must present truth, and also pray for spiritual transformation. They go together.”

Sadly this applies very much – even to Christians who, though ‘spiritually transformed’ believers, do not or will not believe all of the Bible, but rather ‘interpret’ Genesis as pious fable, or make claims of pre-Adam unspiritual Homo sapiens, etc. Hence many of us lack street credibility and non-christians can logically argue “If Christians don’t believe the Bible where it says God created the Earth in six days, then why should I believe the Bible where it says homosexuality etc. is wrong?”

In my opinion, the evidence is clear that the decline of the church in the West, and hence the decline of the West, follows a generation or two behind the Western church capitulating to billions of years of supposed history and ignoring the Bible’s plain interpretation as creation being about 4,000 BC – a date that the famous scientist Sir Isaac Newton calculated from Biblical data and known history.

That is why I now focus less on politics and more on encouraging Christians and others that the Genesis is true history with a clear chronology. Without Genesis as true chronological history, the Gospel has no logical foundation.

  41. It could be just me but the Herald-Sun seems to have changed its tune since the decisive election results came in. All of those (pre-election) front page write-ups regarding the Red Shirts rort, trying to stop the Ombudsman from investigating, the refusal of ministers to submit to police interviews, the political chicanery with the CFA and obvious union manipulation – all now disappeared from the HUN’S pages as if they never were a concern. Now it is ‘Action Dan’. So apparently if you can’t beat them then the way to look good is to join them. A quick turnabout by the Ministry of Truth.

  42. When will Catholics/Christians wake up and vote for the Democratic Labour party whose Constitution is under almighty God and protects life and all other Christian values and always has and always will??
