From Sleaze to Christ
By God’s grace lives can be turned around:
God is in the business of transforming lives. Be they drug addicts, gang members, murderers, or porn-stars, Jesus came to set the captives free. That has been happening now for two thousand years, and it will continue until he returns. Thankfully a number of people who have been heavily involved in the adult film industry are included in that number.
In an article I wrote back in 2007 on the porn culture, I said this in part:
But that unfortunately is the sad truth: for many girls and young women today, they have been so saturated by a porn-soaked culture, that they feel the only way they can really be a woman is to dress and act like a porn star. Indeed, one porn star even wrote a best-seller entitled, How to Make Love Like a Porn Star. When books such as that become best-sellers, then popular culture has pretty much hit rock bottom. And we are all paying a high price for such a sewage-ridden culture. https://billmuehlenberg.com/2007/06/27/all-porn-all-the-time/
If my memory serves me correctly, one fellow sent in a comment to that piece, saying the book was not a real endorsement of the porn lifestyle. At the time I was quite dubious, and I certainly had no intention of going out and getting a copy of it, so I did not print his comment.
But now, given that it seems the woman in question has recently become a Christian, perhaps I was too hasty in rejecting his views. After all, as I now see, the subtitle of her 2010 book reads this way: “A Cautionary Tale”. So maybe she was warning us back then about the sleaze industry.
I refer to Jenna Jameson. There are now articles appearing telling us that she has embraced Christianity and is seeking to warn others about the porn industry. One such piece says this:
Jenna Jameson has moved beyond her adult film actress past in order to help others “find Jesus.” Jameson opened up about her redemption as she reflected on her past career choices. “After decades of being known for my body and sin, getting baptized and helping others find Jesus too,” she wrote over a video shared to Instagram Reels. Jameson chose audio accompanying the video that stated, “Switching sides.”
Jameson’s rep told Fox News Digital, “Jenna is being loud and proud about her walk with Jesus Christ. She believes that boldly proclaiming her love for Him is helping open so many people’s eyes to the truth that no one is beyond redemption.” https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/jenna-jameson-known-body-sin-before-leaving-adult-film-career-behind-faith
I posted this on the social media yesterday and I added these words: “Pray that she is indeed a real convert who can now help others in the sleaze industry.” One person commented, asking whether she was a real Christian or not. I replied: “God alone really knows”. So at the very least, we need to pray for her.
The good news is, there have been others in the porn industry who have left it all to follow and serve Christ. One of them is Shelley Lubben. In 2010 she wrote the book, Truth Behind the Fantasy of Porn: The Greatest Illusion on Earth. I have discussed her in various articles:

As I said in the first piece:
She now has a full-time ministry telling the truth about the wretched porn industry, and helping women trapped in it: “As a child, Shelley had dreamed of being a preacher. Having received her bachelor’s of theology degree, she is indeed a preacher now, sharing her testimony of transformation and rescue out of drugs, porn, and prostitution ‘by the power of Jesus Christ.’ Her website says:
“Now happily married to Garrett, her husband, and the mother of three daughters, Shelley takes a message of transformation against-all-odds to prisons, TV, radio, film, conferences and rescue missions. She has been a guest on talk shows such as Dr. Phil, Michael Reagan and most recently, FOXNews. Her message is one of exposing the $57 billion porn industry for what it is—full of lies and deceit, addiction and broken lives. Shelley maintains that women who turn to the industry to make money ‘probably didn’t grow up in healthy childhoods. Almost all pornography performers were sexually assaulted as children,’ she says, but hide their broken hearts. ‘That would kill the fantasy, now wouldn’t it?’”
I did a quick web search and found that others have been transformed by Christ. A 2017 article discusses ten porn-stars. It was revised in 2025 and now features twelve of them. Here is just one of them:
2. Britney Ruiz aka Jenna Presley
After seven years of filming sex scenes sometimes up to three times a day, Presley’s life fell off the rails as she descended into alcohol, drugs and depression. While she was at a p*rn set, she met members of the anti-porn & XXXChurch at a convention. (A group known for crashing p*rn sets and conventions to hand out Bible’s titled, ‘Jesus Loves P*rn Stars’) the XXXChurch managed to convince Presley, whose real name is Brittni Ruiz, that she should choose God over a career in the xrated industry.
“The devil wanted me back, but God kept tugging at me,” Brittni says. “The devil had a plot, but God has a plan.” Relieved to have left her life in pornography behind, Ruiz said, ‘I never found love in my life and was looking for it in all the wrong place. I have finally encountered the unconditional love of God, And I will never go back.’ https://talkafricana.com/10-pornstars-who-gave-their-life-to-christ-after-years-of-living-in-sin/
So real change is possible. Like so many conversions, the transformation can be difficult and may take time. But the good news is, there is such a category as ex-adult film industry stars. Christ can set people free.
As Jesus told us in John 10:10: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
Please keep people like Jameson and others in your prayers. They will certainly need it.

Be cautious with Jameson.
A few years ago, she “got her life in order” — by marrying a Jewish man and converting to Orthodox Judaism. She became a mother through that marriage. She posted wholesome stuff about family and modesty, and put away her old life. Her conversion attracted the attention of Jewish conservatives like Ben Shapiro, who covered this at the time.
Fast forward to today, that marriage blew up and in a bitter divorce battle, and court records show serious accusations against her, with the result that the court granted her husband full custody of their children.
This isn’t to say her conversion to Christianity is inauthentic. Jesus does save! But we should have some caution about her conversion. Let’s wait to see if it bears good fruit.
Thanks Judah. As I said in my piece, God alone really knows if she is indeed a genuine Christian, and the best we can do at this point is keep her in our prayers.
These testimonies are very heartening and encouraging. The porn industry is a dark and evil place. Our Lord can reach the most downtrodden and cleanse them whiter than snow. Thank you for sharing! I will be praying.
Thanks Dave.
Let me say a bit more Judah. In a radio interview on her story that I recently did I said that we need to be careful about ‘celebrity conversions.’ We should not put these folks on a pedestal, and we need to ensure that they mature a bit and get proper discipleship.
Also, I was just recently told on the social media that the Shelley Lubben situation did not end well. I had not followed her story, so I was surprised and saddened to hear this. I looked around and found this article on her life. It said in part:
“She had an affair in 2015, divorced Garrett in 2016, then closed the Pink Cross Foundation. She became angry at God and fell back into drugs and alcohol. On March of 2018, Shelley’s home burned to the ground in what was called a drug lab explosion. . . . On February 9, 2019, Shelley was found dead in a trailer park in California, alone, with conflicting reports as to the cause of her death. She was 50.” https://www.blazinggrace.org/a-tragic-story/
So your point is well taken Judah. We do need to be cautious with these sorts of conversion testimonies. And they need a lot of prayer.
