Resisting Sharia

All over the Western world we see creeping sharia and stealth jihad occurring. We are allowing the undermining of our free and democratic nations by a foreign political ideology which is not compatible with our way of life. The examples of this are as endless as they are worrying.

But the good news is not everyone is happy with this. There are some brave troopers who are resisting the invasion of sharia law, and are seeking to hold the fort, if not roll things back. Two recent examples of this – one from the US and one from Australia – are worth mentioning here.

America certainly needs such resistance. Of course Barack Hussein Obama is America’s first ever dhimmi POTUS. Not only in his incessant anti-Christian and pro-Islam actions and policies do we find this, but in his words and writings as well. This is the man who said the following:

“I will stand with them [Muslims in America] should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” (The Audacity of Hope, 2006)

“We will convey our deep appreciation for the Islamic faith, which has done so much over the centuries to shape the world — including in my own country. The United States has been enriched by Muslim Americans. Many other Americans have Muslims in their families or have lived in a Muslim-majority country — I know, because I am one of them.” (Speech in Turkey, April 2009)

“Islam has a proud tradition of tolerance.” (Speech in Cairo, June 2009)

And this is the man who said just last week that it is time to end the “global war on terror”. (Speech at the National Defense University, May 23, 2013) And this immediately after the Boston bombings and the London terror attack!

With a dhimmi like this in the White House, some US states are mounting a fight back. Consider Kansas: “Republican Kansas Governor Sam Brownback signed a bill aimed at keeping state courts and agencies from using Islamic or other non-U.S. laws when making decisions, his office said on Friday, drawing criticism from a national Muslim group.

“The law has been dubbed the ‘sharia bill’ because critics say it targets the Islamic legal code. Sharia, or Islamic law, covers all aspects of Muslim life, including religious obligations and financial dealings. Opponents of state bans say they could nullify wills or legal contracts between Muslims. Supporters said the law will reassure foreigners in Kansas that state laws and the U.S. Constitution would protect them.”

Well done Kansas. And Australians too are concerned about all this. And well they should be. What did we find in today’s headlines? “Man arrested in Sydney terrorism raid denied bail.” The story begins, “A Sydney man under investigation for alleged terrorism offences has been charged after allegedly making a threatening telephone call to a Commonwealth official.

“Milad Bin Ahmad Shah al-Ahmadzai, 23, was arrested at his apartment in Auburn on Monday night. His home, which he shares with his pregnant wife and stepson, was raided by the Joint Counter Terrorism Team, consisting of officers from the Australian Federal Police and NSW officers. Al-Ahmadzai is alleged to have made a threatening phone call to the Commonwealth public official on May 2.

“Documents also reveal that al-Ahmadzai has been under investigation by the Joint Counter Terrorism Team for ‘allegedly committing terrorism-related offences’ since December 2009. His arrest on Monday came only hours after the Australian Defence Force warned troops to avoid al-Ahmadzai due to hateful material he had allegedly been posting on the internet. The 23-year-old is also due to be sentenced on Friday in an unrelated matter involving the ram-raid of an ATM on Sydney’s upper north shore in July 2011.”

At least one state religious body has rightly had enough of all this. The Presbyterians in South Australia want a ban on sharia law there: “The Presbyterian church has called for Sharia law to be rejected in South Australia. SA-based convenor of the Presbyterian church and nation committee the reverend Stefan Slucki said some of the most brutal aspects of Sharia law were being used in Muslim communities and should not be allowed to gain a foothold. He said in the most extreme cases Islamic leaders had threatened to have Sharia law take over Australian law.”

Mr Slucki said, “We have no problems with things like halal food and those practices but the main problems with Sharia are the subjugation of women, the wearing of total coverings for women, the repression of women in terms of Christian principles. We are also opposed to the totalitarian view of the state (governance). This is an issue that will not go away, just as it has not gone away in the UK and in Canada and other places. People must not flirt with the idea that it would be nice to allow Sharia law to be practised within selected communities. There are already people who send their children overseas for female genital mutilation and then bring them back.”

The article continues, “Islamic representatives yesterday would not comment on the issue of Sharia law and its use in Adelaide. In some parts of the world, the most extreme aspects of the law require brutal punishments such as chopping off hands for theft and stoning of women for infidelity. The criticisms of Sharia come despite the Presbyterian Church being one of the strongest refugee advocacy agencies in Australia.”

Well done Pressies. The only thing I would differ on is their take on halal food. But I discuss that elsewhere: https://billmuehlenberg.com/2010/07/15/concerns-about-halal-foods/

But at least we have some resistance mounting. We can use a lot more however. But in the meantime we salute Kansas and the SA Presbyterians!

  1. “Islam has a proud tradition of tolerance.”

That’s true, so long as we define tolerance to include killing Muslims who change their religion, prohibition of new church buildings in Muslim lands, officially-sanctioned destruction of any religious buildings apart from mosques, all non-Muslims to be at best second-class citizens, women in many cases dehumanised and not permitted to show their faces making them non-persons in public, and a few other examples of wonderful tolerance.

Did you say the President of the USA said that?

Is he insane or does he hate America? Or both?

It’s time for our governments and churches and Amanda Vanstone to take their heads out of the clouds and be honest about the threat of Islam. It is indeed encouraging to see a few rays of light appearing in the thick fog of wilful ignorance.

Thanks for keeping us on our toes Bill.

  2. It would be an interesting, revealing exercise to comapare and contrast the the Law of Moses with sharia law… For one, the punishment for thieves under Mosaic Law involved restitution; it did not involve amputation of the thief’s hand or fingers.

  3. The West has only two choices:
Sharia Law or the dictatorship of relativism, basically militant atheistic and anti-Christian government (the one we have in place right now). Violent acts will increase under shariah law, I guess we have already reached the apex of sexual anarchy under the current government, so no further harm can be done. As often the case, the choice is between sex and death.

Of course there is a third option to sharia and secular humanism: the Judeo-Christian worldview which of course helped to bring forth a free, democratic and prosperous West. Whether we can recover that, or enter into a new age of barbarism, remains to be seen.

  5. Praise God for Stefan Slucki and all who stand for truth & righteousness.
The Legal Systems of all Western Countries have their Origins from the 10 Commandments – the Bible / The Word Of God.
IF Muslims truly believe in GOD the Creator of Heaven & Earth – then they should have no problem accepting & submitting to the laws of Western Nations.
Sharia Law is not God’s Law, so cannot over-ride and should not be given any foot hold in the West.

  6. There is certainly cause for alarm. I found last night’s “7:30 Report” most interesting. There was an emphasis on the known hard line Muslim preachers and their agenda to “radicalise” young men and encourage them to fight in Syria. Concern was clearly expressed about the dangers inherent in the return of these men, fully knowledgeable about urban warfare. Could it be that the world and the MSM are waking up to reality, after all, the tide must turn at some point.

  7. Hi Bill,
just thought it ironic that a blind brother (Rev Slucki) has to lead the way in this. Where are the many church leaders (who physically can see) on this critical subject? Or are they ‘blind?’
Deeply appreciate your ongoing lion-hearted boldness, Bill.’
    Kind regards,

  8. Hi Bill,

I would just like to include the entire quote from Audacity of Hope. I think it’s important to read the entire paragraph…

“Whenever I appear before immigrant audiences, I can count on some good-natured ribbing from my staff after my speech; according to them, my remarks always follow a three-part structure: “I am your friend,” “[Fill in the home country] has been a cradle of civilization,” and “You embody the American dream.” They’re right, my message is simple, for what I’ve come to understand is that my mere presence before these newly minted Americans serves notice that they matter, that they are voters critical to my success and full-fledged citizens deserving of respect.

“Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.” [Page 260-261] . . . ”

I got this from the webiste ‘wikianswers.com’. I remember reading this quote when it was put up on facebook. I think BHO is America’s first dhimmi potus and has done an awful lot of damage. I also think that it is easy to use this passage as a misquote. Perhaps there is more after this paragraph that again shifts the meaning and I believe that his actions more than speak for his betrayal of the western Christian practice and safety but I also think it is important that the leader of the country let the immigrants know that they will be protected if need be no matter what land they come from if they are attacked unfairly.

This paragraph really can be read both ways, I guess.

Yes I am quite aware of the entire context of the quote. Nothing in my quote of course is unfaithful to the text. Not only this quote, but the others I provide – and there are many more like them – give us the real context here. Indeed, his five years of pro-Islamic actions, policies, decisions and legislation provide the really fitting context here. All that he has said and done makes it perfectly clear that he stands with Islam, over against America and Christianity.

  10. BHO appears to be more than a dhimmi, for as I understand dhimmies are non muslims “tolerated” so called subject to a crippling tax and frequent humiliations.
Who is BHO? He is a chameleon. Would he have said that he was “one of them” as you quoted from his speech in Turkey in 2009 before he was elected in 2008 when his success depended so much on the christian vote. His words and promises are certainly not to be trusted and no true man, Christian or not, worth his salt should ever want to have that said about him.
    Many blessings
