PC Madness Spinning Out of Control
One could begin a piece like this with the words, “Only in America….” But that would be misleading, since the curse of political correctness is taking place throughout the Western world. Indeed, while my first two examples do come from the US, the last one comes from the UK.
Both nations, along with many others, have gone so far down the miry pit of PC zaniness that talk of recovery may be a moot point. Daily we hear of more moonbattery carried out by various governments, bureaucracies, and ruling elites.
And it is the common man who suffers as a result. All this idiocy helps no one except the social engineers and political activists who seem bent on destroying the West. And they are doing a mighty fine job of it I might add. So here then are three more recent cases of political correctness run amok.
The first has to do with some poor soul in Oregon. He is spending time in the slammer for an especially pernicious crime: collecting rainwater. Yep, you heard me right. In the People’s Republik of Oregon, it seems that collecting the rain is now a major crime.
The story goes like this: “Gary Harrington, the Oregon man convicted of collecting rainwater and snow runoff on his rural property surrendered Wednesday morning to begin serving his 30-day, jail sentence in Medford, Ore. ‘I’m sacrificing my liberty so we can stand up as a country and stand for our liberty,’ Harrington told a small crowd of people gathered outside of the Jackson County (Ore.) Jail.
“Several people held signs that showed support for Harrington as he was taken inside the jail. Harrington was found guilty two weeks ago of breaking a 1925 law for having, what state water managers called ‘three illegal reservoirs’ on his property. He was convicted of nine misdemeanors, sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined over $1500 for collecting rainwater and snow runoff on his property.
The Oregon Water Resources Department, claims that Harrington has been violating the state’s water use law by diverting water from streams running into the Big Butte River. But Harrington says he is not diverting the state’s water – merely collecting rainwater and snow melt that falls or flows on his own property. Harrington has vowed to continue to fight the penalty, stating that the government has become ‘big bullies’ and that ‘from here on in, I’m going to fight it’.”
Apparently for the time being singing in the rain is still permissible.
Things are not much better in New York where the powers that be have decided that dhimmitude is preferable to standing against crime. The story begins: “Talk about a blind justice system. The latest New York City Council push is for police to shut their eyes to a suspect’s gender, race, age and disability, out of concern that such descriptions constitute unfair profiling.
The New York Post reported that police unions are rallying in opposition, putting out a public relations campaign that includes a uniformed and blindfold-wearing officer with the caption: ‘How effective is a police officer with a blindfold on?’
“New York Police Department Captains Endowment Association, the main union fighting against the proposal, said crime rates could soar. ‘It will ban cops from identifying a suspect’s age, gender, color or disability,’ said the union’s president, Roy Richter, in the Post. ‘When we have wanted suspects and patterns of crimes, those are very important descriptive terms to let officers know who to look for.’
“The union is warning that under this proposal, police would be able only to issue alerts for wanted suspects based on the color of clothing — or else face the risk of a profiling lawsuit, the Post reported. And the bill is headed toward fast-track vote.”
There you have it folks: the next time someone robs a bank or hijacks a plane, the police can only say that some living organism may have been involved. That rules out rocks and cans of Dr Pepper, but otherwise the field is wide open for possible suspects.
But it is not just America, and not just mealy-minded secularists who are up to their ears in this nonsense. So-called Christians can also succumb to mental meltdowns, as this story from England makes clear: “The Church of England is trying to recruit pagans and spiritual believers as part of a drive to retain congregation numbers.
“The church is training ministers to create ‘a pagan church where Christianity [is] very much in the centre’ to attract spiritual believers. Ministers are being trained to create new forms of Anglicanism suitable for people of alternative beliefs as part of a Church of England drive to retain congregation numbers.
“Reverend Steve Hollinghurst, a researcher and adviser in new religious movements told the BBC: ‘I would be looking to formulate an exploration of the Christian faith that would be at home in their culture.’ He said it would be ‘almost to create a pagan church where Christianity was very much in the centre.’ The Church Mission Society, which is training ministers to ‘break new ground’, hopes to see a number of spiritual people align themselves with Christianity.
“Andrea Campenale, of the Church Mission Society, said: ‘Nowadays people, they want to feel something; they want to have some sense of experience. We live in reflective England where there’s much more of a focus on ourselves. I think that is something we can bring in dialogue with the Christian society.’
“The Church Mission Society’s webpage advertising their pioneer training scheme states: ‘Wherever in the world the mission of Jesus goes on, the church needs pioneer mission leaders to break new ground.’ The news comes as spiritual seekers celebrate the summer solstice at Stonehenge today. Pagans and druids will gather to watch the sun rise following the longest day of the year, celebrating at the historic monument. The new move could see famous druids such as druid leader Arthur Pendragon move to Anglicanism.”
Umm, yeah right. That should do the trick – that should save the day. Turn the church into one giant smorgasbord of spirituality and even no spirituality. Arms wide open to take in anyone and anything. Of course in such an approach this will be as helpful as trying to catch water in a sieve.
There may be all sorts of pagans flocking to the churches, but of course there will be no genuine church to flock to – just a collection of disparate spirits who can believe anything and do anything. Just like they already are doing in the world in other words. So why even bother?
Alas, we find PC churches just as much as we find PC secular institutions. Both are utterly mindless and to be avoided like the plague. And expect things to get worse here before they get any better.

Mindless bloody Fools, is all that I can say for them. Talk about Imbeciles and Numbnuts.
Leigh Stebbins
You reckon spiritual types will be ‘flocking to the church’? I don’t even think they will have that much success. They will be seen as irrelevant to people’s lives as ever.
Damien Spillane
I heard Dennis Prager say on the radio the other day in response to churches ringing of bells celebrating the SSM ruling that much of Christianity today is just Leftism with a cross.
Pretty damning indictment.
Damien Spillane
Why stop at gender or race for identification purposes. How dare they offend the PC pol – out of touch – iticians with identifying criminals accurately. Get rid of the species ID also.
I can just see it……..
Attention all units – “something” has just robbed the Central Bank on the corner of Fifteenth and Maine, approach with caution as the unidentified object may be wearing human clothing
Ha.

And there is some moon battery in Australia, Bill. Last week a story did the rounds in Perth about a priest who refused to return a $6500 bracelet to its owners unless they paid him half of its value.

Another story that just hit the ABC online news, which doesn’t paint same-sex relations in quite a redeeming light:
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-06-29/australian-man-jailed-for-40-years-in-united-states-over-horrif/4789730
The story of an Australian gay man who gets 40 years in a US prison, after he and his partner got caught peddling their adopted son to a paedophile ring.
Somehow I don’t think this story will be big news in the MSM.
Don’t read this story if you have a weak stomach.

In response to this story, will the PC crowd still strongly assert that having two parents of the same sex does no harm whatsoever to a child’s upbringing?

Thanks Matthew. I discuss the horrific story you link to here:
