A Review of The Great Reset. By Glenn Beck.

Mercury, 2021.

The Great Reset is real and is the most sinister threat we now face:

Those who have been following the alarming agenda of the Great Reset – if even by simply visiting the World Economic Forum website – know just what a shocking and dangerous thing this is. And I have already written a number of articles sounding the alarm about it, the WEF, and Klaus Schwab.

As such, a fair amount of familiar ground will be found in this new volume by Beck. But it is well worth getting. It is easy to read, covers most of the bases, and is well-documented (with over 500 footnotes). So for those who want a good one-volume exposé of this insidious movement, this is the place to begin.

Indeed, it is among the earliest full-length discussions to appear, although I am aware of other books that have just come out or are soon to be released on this topic. And not a moment too soon. This is one of the most sinister and diabolical movements we now face. Early on in the book Beck explains what this is all about:

The Great Reset is a proposal that is breathtaking in its scope. Its backers support altering nearly every part of society, from the cars we drive to the food we eat to the news reports we watch on television. Its core foundation was shaped almost entirely by a small, extremely wealthy and well-connected group of people, one that includes highly influential business leaders, environmentalists, government officials, and bankers.

The goal of the Great Reset is both shocking and wildly ambitious: to transform the global economy, eliminate free markets, impose a new, more easily controllable and malleable economic system, and change the way people think about private property and corporations. The reset part of the Great Reset is an allusion to “pushing the reset button” on the global economy—and boy, do they want to push that sucker hard.

What Marxists and other haters of the West have not been able to do, Schwab and the WEF seem to be effortlessly pulling off. The Great Reset really is the culmination of the dream and plans of the globalist elites – where others have failed, this seems like it has a real chance of succeeding. Unless of course enough ordinary men and women wake up and fight back.

Indeed, the number of bigwigs supporting this – from Prince Charles to the UN secretary-general, to the head of the IMF and the CEO of BP, to name but a few – is alarming. When you have folks like Bill Gates, George Soros, Al Gore, John Kerry, the heads of Microsoft and other mega-corporations and tech giants involved, then you know we have a real fight on our hands.

This is ultimately about political and economic power and control – on a global scale. Beck reminds us that the use of capitalist-sounding language should not fool us. This movement is anti-free market and anti-private property. Thus the famous phrase by one of its acolytes: “You will own nothing and you will be happy”.

Because the Great Reset is seeking to transform the entire world – politically, economically, culturally and socially – and bring every single one of us under its dominion, this really is a new and dangerous kind of fascism. Says Beck:

The Great Reset will not necessarily require the mass imprisonment of dissenters, nationwide confiscation of businesses, or a bloody revolution. It can achieve authoritarian goals without jackbooted storm troopers or gulags, and it includes just enough elements of cronyism and payouts to global elites to make the system palatable to the world’s wealthiest and most well-connected people. It is a kind of authoritarian, international, socialistic fascism, yes, but it’s not Marx’s socialism or the fascistic models embraced by Benito Mussolini. It is authoritarianism for our brand-new technology-rich, corrupt era. It is twenty-first century fascism.

And despite all its ‘humanitarian’ rhetoric, this “is not really about helping the poor or saving the planet. It is about making the rich richer and expanding the power of the ruling class—goals that many elites have shared across cultures, historical eras, and geographies.”

The book’s second chapter looks at how the Covid crisis became the perfect vehicle to help achieve the aims of Schwab and Co. Indeed, Beck quotes the same memorable phrase that I and others were repeating two years ago at the start of the pandemic: “Never let a crisis go to waste.”

Our elites and political class and media sure did not waste it. They milked it to the max. And the scary Brave New World scenarios we saw unfold – from draconian lockdowns to the massive loss of basic freedoms and human rights – would have pleased our overlords no end. They now know how easily the masses can be manipulated and coerced – all by ramping up the fear factor.

The 1984 sort of tyranny we experienced – all in the name of keeping us safe – proved to be the perfect dry run for what the globalists can and will do – and most folks will not even bat an eyelash. The destruction of the economy during the Covid hysteria was just one casualty. As Beck puts it:

“By issuing stay-at-home orders and their other wildly authoritarian mandates, governments did not merely harm America’s economy; they shot the economy in the head and callously dumped its body in the East River, Godfather-style.”

And while the big corporations and Big Government did quite all right over the past two years, it was small business that was trashed: “the reason corporations were preserved and small businesses destroyed is because in the grand new ‘stakeholder’ economy dreamed up by the elites in Davos and Biden’s White House, corporations could easily be controlled. Manipulating tens of millions of small business owners would be much more difficult.”

Indeed, the “real reason there are so many corporate and financial industry interests lining up to promote the Great Reset is because of money and power—the true driving force behind the Reset.” And the ongoing push for a cashless society will not only ensure more power and control to the elites, but will make control of the masses even more easy – and sinister. In true Chinese Communist social credit style, to have basically every transaction and movement we make monitored by Big Brother, this will be totalitarianism on a scale that we have not yet experienced.

A number of chapters look at the economic fallout from what the WEF is trying to bring about, and it sure does not look good. And Beck reminds us how other ‘emergencies’ are being exploited to push for more globalist control over the world. The hype about climate change is of course a main means being used by these elites to panic the masses into giving up their freedoms and way of life:

This climate hysteria has also been driven to new heights in recent years due to the effects of a death spiral of common sense that works a little something like this: Elites and their well-funded allies in environmental groups and, in some cases, academia make increasingly absurd predictions about climate collapse. The news media dutifully reports it as though God had handed the predictions down from heaven on stone tablets. Although an ever-larger group of people, especially children, have started to believe the predictions, most adults still reject them. In an attempt to scare those skeptical Americans into believing ‘the science’ on climate change, the doomsday predictions and rhetoric get more extreme. ‘Oh, flooding cities won’t do it for them. How about a baked earth? That will do it, I bet.’

Beck does not leave us in complete despair however. His final chapter offers things that concerned citizens can do and policies that can be pursued to help head off this new totalitarian threat. And he reminds us that the little guy – especially when they band together – often can win:

“The history of America has been shaped by ordinary men and women refusing to back down when forced to confront seemingly overwhelming odds. From sit-ins at segregated lunch counters to the beaches of Normandy, when Americans stand for the truth and against authoritarianism, they win.”

This is a much-needed book. The first step to turning back this great evil is to know as much as we can about it. Thank you Glenn Beck in helping us so very well in this regard.

  1. Bill, just look at the Westminster system of government in the commonwealth countries, all have morphed into the Westminster system of welfare; where the life’s of immigrants increase by a factor of 10, while we as customers and taxpayers have to repeat ourselves daily. Mental health anyone?

We spend billions each year on education – only to then see business ‘turn up their noses’ and demand immigrants for the workforce. Who would want to be ‘young and free’ in this damned country.

And if you can get a job out of school, the wage rates of those in hospitality, retail and some others, match those in cleaning – the rubbish rate – is it then any wonder why people don’t want to work, when they have to produce products and services well above and beyond taking the rubbish out — but for exactly the same money, and in lots of cases even less? What’s the point of that? What’s the point of a trade?

    Governments are selling everyone out.

  2. Thank you Bill for summing up the great Reset so accurately and profoundly in light of Glenn Beck’s book and current events.
The truth of ‘never waste a crisis’ you shared, stands out ( especially a man made one that escaped the lab.)
As you have pointed out the COVID crisis, ‘climate change’ agenda, imposing new laws to deprive liberty and the rise of the elite has given the opportunity for evil men and women to do much to re-set the economy and bring down small business and to ‘steal’ private property in a way the Communists would love, as it didn’t mean using soldiers of war and obvious methods of aggression…it just meant using the circumstances of a disease, the elite waiting in the wings with their insidious plan to control and to ‘milk’ the situation as you said.
In trying to break the norms and traditions of democracies around the world in the name of ‘safety’ and ‘disease control’ there has been a steady amount of wealth lining pockets of ones, like the elite (many of whom invested in Big Pharma and IT and the media).
You showed so clearly how these were communist ideals others have tried for years to bring n since the 1960’s and earlier but this time the ‘elite’ did that ushering in of power and control and shattering the economy (and lives), in a very insidious way.
The sadder side is to add the dimension of control of our children and grandchildren in the name of ‘safety’ when in fact the greater agenda is to bring down law and order, efficiency in running schools and Universities (many more had already introduced the Confucius teaching and curriculum.)
The price for ‘safety’ in society has meant ‘lockdowns’ (so aptly named) instead of freedom to move and plan, think or work efficiently, or discuss and to have each nation’s Govt giving orders and able to control who travels, when and where. (I am not criticising this reaction to a crisis just outlining its effects and the confusion it caused.) While that has gone on the mandate to get the vaccine has been drilled into all citizens but the control groups and testing for side effects was not mentioned so the ‘do no harm’ policy that doctors practised was suddenly stripped away from them and the right to ask questions also met with fines or loss of jobs.
The media in turn, has been a weapon to wield instilling the new norms, the ‘voice of authority’ (big brother) , playing on fear and bringing in a voice of doom and gloom but also drumming in hype and ‘bad news’ stories of those who disobey the laws or die suddenly (most deaths attributed to COVID neglected to say there were underlying illnesses and no one compared the statistics to the pneumonia deaths we used to have and flu deaths that in earlier years took those lives due to underlying illnesses of a harsh out of re-occurring respiratory illness…some died of underlying heart failure and during COVID far more died of suicide amongst the young, while the DV statistics rose and child abuse…part of the the other side of the coin and tragic outcome of lockdowns)
Much fear has constantly been portrayed and instilled by the media and this in turn has shaped the new norm of total compliance v punishment, and undermined earlier ways of living – almost wiping them from the memory .
From a Christian point of view I think of Jesus words ‘watch and pray’ and Paul’s exhortation to pray for all in Govt and all those in authority both are foremost. Also to ‘be as wise as serpents and innocent as doves’.
To ‘love our neighbor as ourselves’, and help all in need we can, (Ephesians) carrying out ‘the good deeds He prepared before the foundation of the world.
And to ‘go into all the world and share the gospel’ as the days darken, and to to be always motivated by love for God, for others and to seek His glory.
At some stage Babylon will fall and the anti-Christ will set himself up and offer a global economy. We know this is prophesied in Daniel and Revelation and Matthew and Luke….We are to look up as ‘our redemption draws nigh’ and proclaim Him so others see our eternal hope and want to know about the Good Shepherd who is seeking to save His lost sheep.
The only safe place will be in His hands as he says ‘no one can snatch them from His hands.’
The only peace will be that peace he offers, ‘My peace I give thee, not as this world gives.’
The world will pass away and all in it but our knowledge of His plan to create a new heaven and earth surpasses anything mankind can hope for and also answers the ‘climate change’ anguish.
If we alone know these plans of God then we must share the good news while all around crumbles….’ secret mysteries that angels and prophets longed to know of.’
I think God wants our eyes to be upon Him as we look up and see Him working our His greater plan to bring in the last of the Gentiles, to bring the Jewish people home to Israel, to see the word of God translated into every language and to see it moving across the word in written form, radio, media and by word of mouth and understood -so teachers and preachers and evangelists are needed for all tribes, languages and nations.
May Gods plan for the End Times be taught in churches and also with balance , so that daily re ‘redeem the time’ for as Jesus said, ‘the night is far spent.’ May God gives us ears to hear, eyes to see and a heart to listen to His still voice so we each know how to respond in this day and age, but always too ‘watch and pray’ so we are not deceived.

  3. Gail, in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21, Jesus was warning them about the immediate future in their lifetimes, well those that were still living in 40 years time, about the Jewish Wars in 68-70AD when in 70AD Caesar Titus desecrated the Temple and then completely demolished it and all Jerusalem and millions of Jews were killed and enslaved or dispersed around the world. Remember all these chapters start with the disciples admiring the Temple and Jesus tells them that it will be destroyed and not a stone left.

  4. Thanks guys. Christians can and do of course differ on all things eschatology, end-times, the Olivet Discourse, etc. This post is not on those topics, so we might save the big debate on this for when I do write on such matters thanks.

  5. Dear Bill,

Thank you for the review of the much needed book on the Great Reset. I will try and get a copy. There is nothing better than the printed word for getting the TRUTH out in the open.

These days the MSM is deliberately suppressing or omitting certain information which is exactly what Hitler did in the thirties by burning books.

As an old person I also find it much more comfortable to sit down with a book and find out about a subject anyway.

I think those who in the past have tried to convince us that the Great Reset is all part of a silly conspiracy theory took advantage of the fact that a lot of people don’t bother to read books anymore but rely on the MSM to keep them informed. Now they will have egg all over their silly faces that someone has thought it necessary to write a book about the negative effect that the Great Reset will have on society. Important also because it has been thought up by an evil, powerful elite who want to control the people of the world their way. The author knows there will be plenty of people willing to buy it and read it and word will get around and hopefully people power will win in the end.

I doubt if it will get into the public libraries though.

  6. Thanks Bill. I didn’t mean to stir the waters of eschatology and could have phrased my view more generally to avoid that extra controversy.

Overall, I think we all agree as Christ followers, that in all ages, no matter how near to or far away from the rapture, we agree on the Biblical principles about staying alert and being ready for Jesus second coming, .thereby heeding warnings that Jesus and the Apostle Paul gave in the scriptures. Namely
    1. To watch (stay alert) and pray…and not be weighed down by the cares of this world.
    2. To not be deceived as many false teachers and Christs would come saying ‘I am he’ (including global leaders who may act as demi gods)
    3. To remember that we will be hated and many betrayed just as Our Lord said ‘You will be hated as I was hated’
    4. To ‘love not the world’ and not be seduced by it, but follow the narrow way of Christ, denying self and taking up our cross
to take the gospel to all nations as commanded (Matthew 28) as Jesus won’t come again until all have a chance to hear the gospel.
    5. To read the word, teach it in our households, proclaim and obey it and teach our children.
    6. To have ‘no other gods’ before The Lord Our God…
    7. To love God first and one another and so preserve the unity of the Body of Christ (John 17) so others may see the love we have for one another and recognize Gods presence amongst us.

There are other principles and commandments too but these are some of the main ones I think that help us know what path to follow when we are confronted by the world’s deception and exaltation of humanism, communism and manmade laws and restrictions that give others control over us.
Those who followed Hitler in WW2 when he came into power hardly had time to assess what His principles were. They were taken by surprise and thrust under a harsh regime of coercive control and surveillance, where any were forced to join Hitler and his cause, and to spy on others, betray one another and to betray their own Godly ethics.
Likewise within a short timeframe of 2 years we are now living under the impact and influence of great Reset which so many of the elite were vying for, and others years ago tried to bring about a submission to communism.
In view of that we have to circumspect and ‘understand the times’ like the sons of Issachar.
We may see now through a glass darkly but God will keep revealing His plan and purposes as we seek Him and His word and ask Him for more light on subjects so we are not deceived and taken in by the enemy of lies.
The timing of Jesus coming is known only to the Father but so many in this word have no idea Jesus will come again this generation or another…and have no hope, so that is why I mentioned our eternal hope lies in the resurrection and Jesus coming again – as it is the only hope for mankind.
Without that hope we have no message and no way to pass on hope- we would be like the band playing on the Titanic as it was going down … but we are instead the ones who know where the ‘life rafts’ (the cross and bridge to eternity) and we know the only true Saviour of the world.
Praise God for that incredible privilege, but its also our responsibility to share the gospel message in these times of great hardship, deceit,, trial and sorrow.

  7. Where can you buy a copy of this new book in Australia?
We need to read a book like this one and do something.

  8. They haven’t been happy since the serfs got out from underfoot. They want us back in our “proper” place.

The longer things go on the more I long for heaven and the Lord. I’m tired and I have little strength. Help us Lord!

  9. Hi Bill,
This morning I tried to order Glenn Beck’s book The Great Reset in hardcover from your link but it would not work. Also it showed the cost was $62.21 plus $23.26 delivery but still would not allow me to order. Has anyone else reported this problem?
    Blessings, Wendy

  10. Thanks Wendy. I guess it all depends on where you live. The link I posted in the comment above takes you to the Australian website of Amazon. The link I posted in my article (with the picture of the book) takes you to the US website of Amazon. So if you live in the US, use the link in the article.
