As we speak, millions of Egyptians are marching in Cairo and elsewhere, demanding the end to the rule of the Islamist President Mohammed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood. It is a massive protest which shows few signs of ending soon. As one report states,
“The protesters aimed to show by sheer numbers that the country has irrevocably turned against Morsi, a year to the day after he was inaugurated as Egypt’s first freely elected president. But throughout the day and even up to midnight at the main rallying sites, fears of rampant violence did not materialize.
“Instead the mood was largely festive as protesters at giant anti-Morsi rallies in Cairo’s central Tahrir Square and outside the Ittihadiya palace spilled into side streets and across boulevards, waving flags, blowing whistles and chanting.
“Fireworks went off overhead. Men and women, some with small children on their shoulders, beat drums, danced and sang, ‘By hook or by crook, we will bring Morsi down.’ Residents in nearby homes showered water on marchers below – some carrying tents in preparation to camp outside the palace – to cool them in the summer heat, and blew whistles and waved flags in support.”
Yet at the same time all this is occurring, US President Obama is fully backing Morsi and the Brotherhood. He has been supporting them all the way, including sending military equipment (e.g., F-16 fighter jets) and major financial backing. He has even told Egyptian protestors through his ambassador that they should stop their protests against the Muslim Brotherhood! The so-called leader of the free world is turning out to be the greatest enemy of freedom and democracy.
Obama of course applauded and supported the earlier “Arab Spring” uprisings – all of which have resulted in far worse outcomes. As Pam Geller reports: “The three pro-democracy revolts that Obama refused to support were arguably the only three that were genuinely worthy of the pro-democracy label: the demonstrations against the Islamic regime in Iran in 2009, the anti-Muslim Brotherhood demonstrations in Egypt in winter 2013, and the pro-secularism demonstrations in Turkey in recent weeks.
“There is a common thread between these three that distinguishes them from all the others: in Egypt in late 2012 and early 2013, as well as in Iran in 2009, the demonstrators were protesting against Islamic states; in Turkey, they were protesting against the Erdogan regime that is working hard now to establish an Islamic state. All the other demonstrations were not against pro-Sharia forces, but were led by pro-Sharia forces, and led to the establishment of Islamic states.
“To be sure, the Iranian demonstrators in 2009 contained many pro-Sharia elements that simply objected to the way the Islamic Republic was enforcing Sharia, but they also included many who wanted to reestablish the relatively secular society that prevailed under the last Shah. Whether the Sharia or the democratic forces would have won out in the end is a question that will never be answered – in no small part thanks to Barack Obama.”
So the situation keeps getting worse in Egypt, especially for its Christian population. As Raymond Ibrahim writes, “Under Morsi’s rule, the persecution of Copts has practically been legalized, as unprecedented numbers of Christians – men, women, and children – have been arrested, often receiving more than double the maximum prison sentence, under the accusation that they ‘blasphemed’ Islam and/or its prophet.
“It was also under Morsi’s reign that another unprecedented scandal occurred: the St. Mark Cathedral—holiest site of Coptic Christianity and headquarters to the Pope Tawadros himself – was besieged in broad daylight by Islamic rioters. When security came, they too joined in the attack on the cathedral. And the targeting of Christian children – for abduction, ransom, rape, and/or forced conversion – has also reached unprecedented levels under Morsi.”
The so-called Arab Spring has always really been about an Islamist Winter. The Muslim Brotherhood has been active for decades to impose totalitarian Islamic rule by means of working from within the system. Like cultural Marxists before them, they are using democratic channels to impose non-democratic outcomes.

In his very important book Spring Fever, Andrew McCarthy rightly argues that the Arab Spring is really the “ascendency of Islamic supremacism. It follows a predictable path toward Islamization already trod in Turkey [under Erdogan].”
In both cases elected leaders have betrayed their people and are working with the Brotherhood to establish total Islamic rule and control. In both cases relative stability and democracy have given way to Islamist dictatorship. Egypt under Mubarak was not perfect, but it was far better than what we now have.
Says McCarthy, the election of Morsi “has converted Egypt from a military dictatorship to a sharia dictatorship”. And this is far worse. As McCarthy carefully documents, this is where “Islamic democracy” leads. You see this in so many Muslim countries:
“It was Mubarak’s military regime in Egypt that outlawed practices like female genital mutilation; it was Musharaff’s military regime in Pakistan that outlawed such sharia cruelties as forced marriage and stoning.” Of course with these somewhat moderate and pro-Western leaders ousted, we are seeing strict sharia erupting all over the place.
And the Muslim Brotherhood is up to its ears in all this. It was established in Egypt in 1928. Its founder, Hassan al-Banna (1906-1949) said that “it is the nature of Islam to dominate, not to be dominated.” He said that the mission of the Muslim Brotherhood is “to impose its law on all nations and to extend its power to the entire planet”.
As McCarthy notes, “The Muslim Brotherhood has not been idling for the last eighty-plus years; it has been putting into action Hassan al-Banna’s blueprint for ground-up revolution. . . . Once Sunni supremacism rolled over Turkey’s vigorous attempt to remake itself into a secular, pro-Western state, it was only a matter of time until the tide swept through the predominantly Arab Middle East.”
The situation in Egypt today is this: it is mostly Islamic, although 10 per cent of its 80 million people are non-Muslims – mostly Copts. And of the 70 million Muslims, a sizeable minority would be hard-line, anti-Western Islamists seeking full implementation of sharia. But there also exist many secular Muslims who oppose this.
As in Turkey, masses of people do not like the move to the Islamist agenda. That is why they are marching in their millions, and promise to continue to do so until the Muslim Brotherhood loses its iron grip on their nation. As such, they are not only fighting against Morsi, but against Obama as well.
In the past America sided with the freedom-fighters. Now under the pro-Islamic Obama it is supporting the tyrants. In the meantime places like Russia under Putin are clearly aware of the Islamist agenda. How the tables have turned. But people everywhere will fight for freedom. And we need to support them all the more, since Obama clearly will not.
I believe that Marxists are behind both the Islamic and homosexual revolutions. Once Islam and sodimminism have created anarchy in the West, the new Marxist tyrant will step into scoop up all the winnings, create normalisation and get rid of both Muslims and Homosexuals.
