Leaders Going Off the Deep End

Just what is in the water that our leaders are drinking?

The old saying about people getting the leaders that they deserve is always worth considering. From a biblical point of view for example, there might be something to this idea. Here I am mainly concerned about governments in the West. As leaders become more and more ungodly, wicked and irrational, we all suffer big time. Perhaps this indicates that the people are also going downhill fast, and they are now getting what they deserve – at least in terms of really bad leaders.

Let me look at just four recent examples of loopy leaders and their moonbat mandates. There would be oh so many to choose from, but these four are quite recent and are real doozies. The first two have to do with the never-ending COVID craziness, and the last two with even more ugly chapters in the culture wars.

Certainly the clear winner is New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinta Ardern. She certainly has to take the cake here. There have been plenty of problems we could mention concerning her lengthy reign of error in NZ. One very perceptive commentator on her is the indefatigable Amy Brooke. But it is what Ardern just did the other day that has plenty of people the world over utterly gobsmacked. As one news report states:

New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced a nationwide lockdown after the country confirmed one coronavirus case – the first locally transmitted Covid-19 case in the community since February. Ardern told a press conference Tuesday authorities were assuming it was the contagious Delta variant, although genome sequencing is still underway.

 

An unvaccinated 58-year-old man in the country’s largest city Auckland tested positive for the virus. The man had travelled to other parts of the country, and had no obvious link to the border, Director General of Health Ashley Bloomfield said Tuesday.

 

New Zealand will be under the strictest level lockdown level for the next three days starting from 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, local time, Ardern said. Under level four lockdown, everyone must stay home and businesses are closed aside for essential services such as supermarkets and pharmacies. Good grief! Let that sink in: ONE case! I repeat: ONE case! And that is in Auckland, in the north of the North Island. Yet the ENTIRE country is shut down. Even the South Island! The ENTIRE country – all 5 million people! This is utterly mind-boggling! Has this woman completely lost her marbles?

Except for the power-drunk leaders in Australia, the rest of the world is moving in the opposite direction: they are opening up. The rest of the world is rejecting lockdown mania. The rest of the world is properly learning to live with the virus, as we have done with other infectious viruses in the past.

Yet we have these madmen and madwomen pushing a zero-case policy, a policy that is destroying entire nations and taking plenty of lives because of the shadow pandemic. All the collateral damage from these draconian and disproportionate lockdowns are causing a tsunami of suffering and death, be it ruined businesses, shattered economies, mental health problems, self-harm, domestic violence, increases in drug and alcohol abuse – and suicides, increasingly of young people.

But these one-eyed leaders do not seem to give a rip about any of this suffering and death. They are irrationally obsessed with case numbers. People who die from all the collateral damage are just as real and valuable as those who die with or from COVID. But our power-mad leaders really don’t care about this.

My second example is also COVID related, and also shows how tyrants fixated on power and control are running roughshod over fundamental freedoms and basic civil liberties. Check out this news item:

The Canadian federal government under Liberal Party Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Friday that starting in October Canada will be mandating COVID-19 jabs as a requirement to travel domestically by air, train, or boat.

 

“As soon as possible in the fall and no later than the end of October, the government of Canada will require employees in the federally regulated air, rail and marine transportation sectors to be vaccinated. In addition the vaccination requirement will also extend to certain travelers. This includes all commercial air travelers, passengers on interprovincial trains and passengers on large marine vessels with overnight accommodations such as cruise ships,” Canada’s Transport Minister Omar Alghabra said Friday.

 

Alghabra said in addition to mandating COVID-19 jabs for domestic travel for Canadians, all federal workers will be required to be jabbed by October as well. “Today, we are announcing that the government of Canada intends to require vaccinations across the federal public service. Um, haven’t we been there before? “Show us your papers!” Whether in Nazi Germany or the Communist nations, taking away basic human rights such as the right to freely travel is always a hallmark of the totalitarian state. And now increasingly all throughout the West we are seeing the very same thing being played out.

As to vaccine passports and COVID papers, this short piece making the rounds on the social media really offers a humorous yet serious corrective to such madness:

I walked into a restaurant to have dinner the other day…
Hostess: Hello.
Me: Hi, table for two, please.
H: Sure, and your name.
M: Black
H: Great. And do you and your guest have your vaccination cards?
M: We do….Can you tell us who our server will be?
H: Um, looks like Tom will be your server tonight.
M: Great. Can you show us Tom’s vaccination card?
H: Um…
M: And also, can you provide me with proof that Tom is not a carrier of HIV, Hepatitis A or B, or any other communicable diseases?
H: Um…
M: Also, we would prefer not to be served by someone who is on or uses recreational drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, meth, fentanyl, etc, so if you could provide us with Tom’s most recent tox screen, that would be great.
H: Um… Let me get the manager for you.
M: That would be great, thanks.

Fair is fair.

My next example is yet another culture war case. The trans tyrants are causing horrific damage wherever they go, and it is our children especially who are bearing the brunt of all this. Consider the insanity that the leaders in Scotland are inflicting upon the people there:

The liberal, nationalist government in Scotland has released guidelines for dealing with “transgender” students in classrooms, advising teachers to accept without question the self-assigned genders of children as young as four years old. The document, entitled “Supporting Transgender Pupils In Schools” and published August 12, offers recommendations to school staff in Scotland who might come into contact with pupils “questioning their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.”

 

The guidance, spread across 70 pages, includes advice to teachers that they should acquiesce on gender-identity pronouns, regardless of the student’s sex, and to permit gender-confused students to use the bathrooms assigned to the opposite sex. https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/scottish-government-allows-children-as-young-as-four-to-choose-gender-without-parental-consent/

Wow. Talk about child abuse. Talk about the war on children. Talk about destroying families and waging war on parents and parental authority. The radical trans activists coupled with uber-left governments are helping to bring an end to civilisation as we know it.

My last example comes from here in Victoria, the most hyper-left and anti-Christian state in Australia. Now Dan Andrews, aided and abetted by Fiona Patten, the former hooker and head of the Sex Party, who is now actually in the state Parliament and constantly doing deals with Andrews, is pushing for the full decriminalisation of prostitution.

However, even the leftist and pro-Labor Melbourne Age has had good reason to speak out against this. As one article puts it:

Victoria is set to replace its current near 30-year-old system of prostitution legalisation with full decriminalisation. Full decriminalisation will repeal industry specific regulations and treat this industry the same as any other business. The hope is that this approach will reduce harm and make the industry safer. However, decriminalisation has not lived up to expectations so far. Decriminalising prostitution and treating it as sex work has not made it safe in any of the three jurisdictions (NSW, Northern Territory, New Zealand) where it has been implemented….

 

Unacceptable levels of violence persist in NSW, where decriminalisation has been in place since 1995. Or as Peter Stevens of FamilyVoice Australia has said in a press release, this is an attack on women. He writes:

Let’s be clear. Further easing of restrictions around sex work will again make it easier for men to pay to abuse and degrade women. . . . In San Francisco, a study found that 82% had been physically assaulted, 68% had been raped while working, 68% experienced post-traumatic stress disorder and 88% wanted to discontinue the practice. Many prostitutes turn to drugs to cope with the pain of their work.

 

Pandering to the porn-fueled insatiable desires of Victorian men can only lead to more maltreatment of women, and a further escalation of the already problematic sex trafficking of Asian women and girls from interstate and overseas, should Covid restrictions ease. Most MPs would not want their daughters to be sex workers and should recognise the hypocrisy of allowing someone else’s daughter to become a prostitute. The only way to minimise the harm of this inherently damaging and degrading “trade” is to develop sensitive but robust laws to curtail those activities.

These four cases are but a tip of the iceberg of course. Everyday we see maniacal leaders doing incalculable harm in the decisions they make and the policies they push. The questions that remains are these: Do we really deserve all this? Do we deserve such diabolical leaders?

If we do, then we really are all toast.
