The Greens’ Ugly Misotheism

You can quickly tell where a person is at by what he gives clear priority to. The same with political parties. What they prioritise and carry on about tells you a lot about their core values. And when you have an Australian political party bent on destroying marriage and family, legalising drugs, pushing the culture of death, and promoting one amoral and immoral cause after another, that is most telling.

But it is the anti-Christian bigotry that is most worrying about this political party. I refer to the Australian Greens. Along with many in the Labor Party, they are the most secular left, anti-Christian party around. And it shows big time. It seems you never hear them talking about actual green causes much these days. Instead, it is all radical social engineering.

So their priorities are things like the legalisation of euthanasia, or legalising homosexual marriage, or now, banning the Lord’s Prayer in Parliament. What all these things actually have to do with the environment is beyond me. But that simply proves my point: these guys are not about hugging trees; they are about destroying Australia and the West with their nasty agenda of cultural Marxism.

They have long been known as radical moonbats, and their decision to declare war on public prayer is about as moonbat as you can get. How does banning prayer save the trees or the air? It does nothing of the sort of course, but this nonetheless is a big priority of the lunar Greens.

Check out this bit of loosely disguised misotheism: “The Australian Greens want the Lord’s Prayer dropped from the opening of each day’s federal parliament sittings. Acting Greens leader Richard Di Natale says the use of the prayer is outmoded and does not reflect modern multi-faith Australian society.

“It was introduced in June 1901, and at the time the House of Representatives decided the Speaker and not an official parliamentary chaplain should lead the prayer. Senator Di Natale said he would ask a committee to take a fresh look at the prayer, with a view to removing it from the standing orders and replacing it with a secular opening statement. ‘What we need to do is ensure the tradition of separation of church and state is reinforced,’ he said.”

So there you have it. Save the oceans? Save the forests? Nope, their priority is to get rid of God in the public arena. They are on a holy war, crusading to stamp out all vestiges of our Judeo-Christian heritage. Sure, just dumping prayer may not seem like much. But it is all part of their incremental war on faith.

Today it is prayer in parliament. Tomorrow it may be any prayer in public. The next day it may be the total ban on Bibles in any parts of the public arena. The same with gospel proclamation, and so on. Indeed, this is already happening all over the Western world, especially by the homosexual militants.

And since the Greens are fully committed to the homosexual agenda (indeed, having had as its founder and leader a homosexual) you know they will not stop with Parliamentary prayers. Their list will be endless, and we will see many more anti-God measures being pushed by these God-haters.

And they can spare us all this baloney about separation of church and state. That concept and phrase is of course eminently American, and even thoroughly misunderstood there as well. Just as so much of the Australian Constitution was borrowed heavily from the US Constitution, so too this concept.

The phrase itself is of course not even found in the US Constitution, but was used 13 years later by Jefferson in some correspondence with a church. What the First Amendment says in its famous “establishment clause” is the federal government should not be in the business of establishing one religion as an official state church.

It is to be a hands-off policy in other words. Americans are free to establish their own churches without any government interference. This was never about keeping every trace of religion out of political life. That was never the intention of the Founding Fathers.

Indeed, they made it quite clear time and time again that without God in general and Christianity in particular, the new republic could never get off the ground. They were interested in freedom for religion, not freedom from religion. Just a few representative quotes here:

“The Christian religion, in its purity, is the basis, or rather the source of all genuine freedom in government. . . . and I am persuaded that no civil government of a republican form can exist and be durable in which the principles of that religion have not a controlling influence.” Noah Webster

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” John Adams

“If we will not be governed by God, we must be governed by tyrants.” William Penn

“Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensible supports.” George Washington

“Whatever makes men good Christians makes them good citizens.” Daniel Webster

“Can the liberties of a nation be sure when we remove their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people, that these liberties are a gift from God?” Thomas Jefferson

Hardly anyone back then thought for a moment that religious belief had to somehow be quarantined from public life and political life. It was assumed that religion – primarily the Christian religion – was the foundation for any sort of healthy government.

The modern obsession with radical secularism as exemplified by the Greens was totally foreign to the thinking of the American founding fathers. So this whole notion of separation of church and state is radically different today from what it was originally intended to mean. But see much more detail on this here: https://billmuehlenberg.com/2006/10/20/separation-of-church-and-state/

And it was basically the same here when the Australian Constitution was penned. There were no rabid, anti-God secularists seeking to keep every last trace of religion out of the political or public realm. Simply look again at what is stated:

“The Commonwealth shall not make any law for establishing any religion, or for imposing any religious observance, or for prohibiting the free exercise of any religion, and no religious test shall be required as a qualification for any office or public trust under the Commonwealth.” (Ch 5 § 116).

Heavily influenced by what is found in the US Constitution, this of course says nothing about banning religion from the public arena. It merely prevents the government from imposing any state religion on the country. It is about restraining government, in other words, not religion.

The simple truth is, Western civilisation, including the founding of Australia, was overwhelmingly the product of the Judeo-Christian worldview. Without it the West as we know it simply would not exist. Yet it seems the misotheist Greens want to eliminate every last trace of this biblical heritage, at least in the public arena.

Given how intimately connected these two are, one politician was absolutely right to say, “The Greens are incompatible with Western civilisation.” Yes, quite so. Everything that made the West great the Greens seem to be against.

Well, I’ve got news for these anti-Christian bigots: if they hate so much the Lord’s prayer and other aspects of Australia’s religious history, then that is their problem. But try showing a little bit of tolerance for a change – you know that word: you use it all the time – and allow the overwhelming majority of religious and Christian Australians to say such a prayer if they choose.

We have seen before how the eradication of faith in the public arena has gone. Just think of the Bolsheviks, the National Socialists, the Maoists, and so on. We don’t need more anti-Christian bigotry from political parties here thanks.

  1. Well the Greens would have the education sector pay so much homage to aboriginal history (prior to our Colonial heritage). But in terms of the history of Australia’s foundation as a colony which became a nation they want to ignore this completely. Ironically they are using the establishment of parliament (which was founded with Judeo-Christian values) to ignore our Western history altogether and protest against everything Christian.

  2. Nurse, tranquillisers and straitjacket for Mr Muehlenberg! Right away please!

  3. Thanks Margaret for yet another prime example of how your side operates. Instead of dealing with the evidence and facts, or offering rational arguments, you imply resort to ad hominem attacks – then walk away feeling really smug about yourself. Typical.

  4. The Greens would do well to refer to the Commonwealth Constitution which says in the preamble:

“Whereas the people…humbly relying on the blessing of Almighty God…Be it therefore enacted…with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal…”

    Nicholas Davies

  5. Thank you Bill, GOD Bless you for your forthright warnings for these end time days.
As the light of the Christian Gospel diminishes the darkness of evil increases, Russia, China, North Korea, Germany.
History will repeat itself if the righteous people stand idly by.
Evil men succeed because good men do nothing to stop them.

  6. This Post is a LIFELINE of LIBERTY, FREEDOM and TRUTH to all Australians who cherish what we have and are willing to stand and be accountable for it’s defence.
It is no coincidence that we are The South Land of The Holy Spirit, and The Land of The Southern Cross.
GOD has not forgotten, it was the Australian Light Horse Regiment that Liberated Israel.
Those that Bless Israel I will Bless.
    GOD BLESS AUSTRALIA.

  7. Don’t think they will be content to ban these things in the public arena. They will want to ban them altogether, as happened in the former Soviet Union, and as happens in the Middle East and, I understand, China, today. .

  8. You must be saying something right to stir up such a hornets nest Bill. Thanks.

  9. Only a fool burns down the foundations of the house in which they stand!

  10. You have so much patience Bill! How I wish that people commenting such as Margaret Brien would have their house burn down. Oh, it will? Thank goodness, I hope she gets saved before that happens!

  11. The Greens, according to Dr Kevin Andrews, had an earlier origin through green bans applied by the Builders Labourers Federation in 1970s NSW, headed up by Jack Mundey, a former Communist Party candidate. Mundey himself described himself as an “ecological Marxist”.

The full article can be found here: http://www.cdp.org.au/newsletter/October2012/The-Greens-%20By-Hon-Dr-Kevin_Andrews-MP.pdf

I hope the link works because I’m typing it on an iPhone. Too easy to mistype.

It’s an interesting insight into some of the Greens history.

BTW the article itself claims Lee Rhiannon is a former member of the Moscow aligned Socialist Party of Aust, whose parents were Communist Party members. Adam Bandt was a radical student activist using the Greens as a vehicle for his own ideological pursuits according the Andrews.

  12. Thank you Bill for your prolific and forthright defence of Truth. It’s true the Greens barely even pretend to care for the environment but are determined to saw off the plank on which they stand, surveying and sneering at a civilisation they are fast destroying.
Send every single Green to North Korea. please!

  13. Acting Greens leader Richard Di Natale has asserted that the Lord’s Prayer is outmoded and does not reflect modern multi-faith Australian society.

What a hypocrite! As if atheists like him give a tinker’s cuss about “modern multi-faith Australian society”.

No, he’s just an anti-Christian bigot because no educated person – religious or not – could possibly object to the Lord’s Prayer.

It’s a cultural treasure of the West given to us by Jesus Christ himself over 2000 years ago and has been prayed by countless souls across the milennia.

Its message of acknowledging God, trusting in His providence, of the necessity of forgiveness and the plea to be spared temptation has resonated around the world.

And will continue to do so despite the Greens.

  14. Good morning to you Bill.

The Greens got the idea from NZ.Around late November the Bill was put to the NZ parliment. I believe it was read out by one of the Greens.

And guess what? Exactly the same reasons were given that you have just quoted from Acting Greens leader Richard Di Natale. However, ‘‘What we need to do is ensure the tradition of separation of church and state is reinforced,’ ‘Reinforced’ I’m sure was not said. However I believe they said something very similar about the seperation.

“….ask a committee to take a fresh look at the prayer, with a view to removing it from the standing orders and replacing it with a secular opening statement. …..” That was also said. From memory just about word for word!

Part of the response to it from National Treasurer Bill English a Catholic, and father of about 8, was “….In this busy place it gives you 15mins of thought before parlimentry business…..” I think he was addressing the atheist idea ‘my time is being wasted’.

Also, the euthanasia Bill was withdrawn by Labour because they didn’t want to carry that baggage into the election in November. – They will of course put it back up after the election!

Some good news though Bill. The abortion rate in NZ has been dropping over the last 2 or 3 yrs. I believe it is because the ‘whole truth about abortion’ is starting to filter through to the females – as all the other stats in that area don’t compute with that downward trend.

Also, and I believe a very good thing, some NZ group that ‘publicly claims’ they are not an ‘anti-abortion group’ has had stalls at public events where they display ‘babies and pregnancy ect’ aiming at educating children, women ect. I understand they use ‘pregnant manequins’ that display the interior womb ect -AND- they give away ‘feotus dolls’ to kids – and are apparently very popular!

The pro-abortionists are on the backfoot. They went into a rage online – and quickly retreated when it was reported in the media.

Thanks for your good work Bill. God Bless.

  15. As someone pointed in a letter to the SMH today, “Natale” means “Christmas” in Italian. Perhaps the Senator should be fair dinkum (as we say in Australia) and change his name.

  16. The 2011 Census indicated that 61 % of Australians identified as Christians. At the recent federal election the Greens vote was around 10 %. Yet they delight in spreading the falsehood, reinforced by the MSM, that the Australian public support their bizarre social activities: euthanasia, SSM, population control, etc, etc.
One can only wonder how long it will take Australians to wake up to the subversive policies they have attempted to inflict on us.

  17. LOL at Natale and its meaning!!

If the Lord’s Prayer should be banned, then shouldn’t any teaching of Aboriginal beliefs be banned as it does not reflect the beliefs of modern multi-faith Australian society?

  18. More to the point, what is right with these guys? If they are not on the Lords side, they are not right. It is as simple as that!
    Judith Bond

  19. The number of votes these guys pull through the clever and deceptive title “the Greens” would drop significantly if they adopted a more truthful title, maybe “The Abortion and Euthanasia Party” or “Social Marxists”. Ask any young person who wouldn’t know what they stand for and about all they come up with is ‘the environment’.

If only every political party and indeed every Australian would come to the following conclusion:

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-01-16/tasmanian-premier-names-election-date/5203346

  20. “….If the Lord’s Prayer should be banned, then shouldn’t any teaching of Aboriginal beliefs be banned as it does not reflect the beliefs of modern multi-faith Australian society?…”

    Jo……..

That same thing has been asked in NZ with regard to the Maori ‘blessings’ that are part of nearly all offical government gatherings.

The understanding I think is, that they want to replace the likes of prayers with a bit of everything else under the sun…..or with next to nothing……and spoken in Maori…..with maybe a bit of english spoken 2nd. That’s how it looks to me Jo.

There is also talk of removing God from the National Anthem, however I don’t think that will happen unless they get a new Anthem. And that’s unlikely. Cheers Jo.

  21. It just seems hypocritical, doesn’t it?

On another note, the public Primary and High Schools my children attend all have school prayers, pledges and school anthems with references to God. Every time I hear them I am amazed and grateful but wonder when someone will try and ruin that…

  22. The Lord’s Prayer acknowledges that man is not his own god. The Prayer also talks about an everlasting Kingdom destined one day to supersede all political entities in the cosmos. The same prayer implies that man is not the measure of all things when it comes to justice and ethical lawmaking. Nor does the prayer teach that Gaia, or the latest edition of “the economic miracle” gives us our daily bread. The world’s legislatures are also no strangers to the temptation to do evil.

  23. Matt Patchon, Kevin Andrews article about the Greens is fascinating reading. This is part of what I wrote about the Greens on my own blog late last year.

Unlike the so called old political parties, namely Labor, the Liberals, and the Nationals, the Australian
Greens like to claim the moral high ground and make themselves out to be above politics. They claim to give a voice for the common man or woman, to stand up for rightness and principle, the common good over the powerful special interests that they claim exert undue influence over politics and government, and that their parliamentarians never resort to sloganeering or talking in heavily parsed, media friendly sound bites. They have taken it upon themselves to be the conscience of the nation.

  24. In NSW, the attempt has been made a few times to get rid of Christian prayers, thankfully so far without success.
It always amuses me how much a God who supposedly doesn’t exist bothers those who don’t believe in Him so that they can’t even indulge those who do in their “goodness of their heart” to let them have their 5 minutes of useless words. We know there is more to it than that and the demons who influence those who reject God do too.
I wonder why Muslims don’t go to Muslim countries and communists go to Cuba or wherever else communism rules. That would make sense to me.
As to separation of church and state, yes, separation from each other is helpful but nowhere does it say in any western constitution that the state ought to be free to make ungodly laws.
    Many blessings
    Ursula Bennett

  25. The greens do not fear any god. But obviously they fear the Name of Jesus and the Power that it holds. Unless they change, when the LORD finally says enough is enough, they will see that Dagon will collapse, and there is no where to run and hide. How sad.

  26. Does the Green’s lack of tolerance of religion extend from Christianity to Islam? if it did i would take their views more seriously.
