Killing Language, Killing Babies

These baby-killers would make Orwell proud:

There is one lesson the radical secular left has learned, and learned very well: if you want to destroy a culture, you first must destroy the language. Put another way, social engineering is always preceded by verbal engineering. If you can change the meaning of the most basic of words, you can much more readily change an entire culture.

This has long been recognised. For example, the great English novelist and political commentator George Orwell wrote an essay about all this way back in 1946 entitled “Politics and the English Language”. In it he made some salient points about how this works. Let me offer just one quote:

In our time, political speech and writing are largely the defense of the indefensible. Things like the continuance of British rule in India, the Russian purges and deportations, the dropping of the atom bombs on Japan, can indeed be defended, but only by arguments which are too brutal for most people to face, and which do not square with the professed aims of the political parties. Thus political language has to consist largely of euphemism, question-begging and sheer cloudy vagueness. Defenseless villages are bombarded from the air, the inhabitants driven out into the countryside, the cattle machine-gunned, the huts set on fire with incendiary bullets: this is called pacification.

Millions of peasants are robbed of their farms and sent trudging along the roads with no more than they can carry: this is called transfer of population or rectification of frontiers. People are imprisoned for years without trial, or shot in the back of the neck or sent to die of scurvy in Arctic lumber camps: this is called elimination of unreliable elements. Such phraseology is needed if one wants to name things without calling up mental pictures of them. Consider for instance some comfortable English professor defending Russian totalitarianism.

He cannot say outright, ‘I believe in killing off your opponents when you can get good results by doing so.’ Probably, therefore, he will say something like this: ‘While freely conceding that the Soviet regime exhibits certain features which the humanitarian may be inclined to deplore, we must, I think, agree that a certain curtailment of the right to political opposition is an unavoidable concomitant of transitional periods, and that the rigors which the Russian people have been called upon to undergo have been amply justified in the sphere of concrete achievement’.

One need not necessarily agree with all of his examples of indefensible things to appreciate his main point. Those who do great evil often try to cover their tracks by the decimation of language. There are many contemporary examples of this. Here I want to look at one obvious group which is fully involved in horrendous and evil activity that also seeks to hide and camouflage what it is doing with euphemisms and doubletalk.

I refer to the modern merchants of death: the abortion industry. These folks actually make a living out of killing babies. That is their sole purpose. That is their reason for existing. That is what they do. Each year around 45-50 million unborn babies are slaughtered by these mass murderers. This is one of the most clear-cut examples of evil that one can imagine.

Because what they do is so patently devilish and horrific, they are forever seeking to cover up what their actions really are all about by playing language games. They destroy language so that they can more readily destroy human life. The most recent and despicable example of this comes from the US-based pro-abort group, the National Women’s Law Center.

A week ago on their website they posted a piece about a new campaign they have set up to promote baby-killing. They say this about it:

I’m going to be frank: I’m sick and tired of having to justify why we need to be able to get an abortion. I’m tired of the constant reasons we need to give and soul-baring we need to do to explain why abortion access is critical to living a full life with joy and dignity. I’m tired of conversations around what constitutes a “good” or “bad” abortion. I’m tired of the fact that the actual and nuanced experiences of people who have abortions are so often ignored by politicians.

At its core, access to abortion actually is about taking care of ourselves, our communities, and the people we love. The media often paints abortion as a divisive political issue, but here’s the truth: abortion actually is an act of love, an act of compassion, an act of healing, and an act of selflessness.

We should all be free to love — each other and ourselves. We should all be free to heal, whatever it takes. We should all be free to practice compassion, daily. We should all be free to learn how to self-preserve and be selfless and anywhere in between — without fear of judgement or shame… https://nwlc.org/blog/what-abortion-actually-is-about/

With this campaign are four new advertising posters, featuring this utter distortion of language and reality:

“Abortion actually is love”

“Abortion actually is compassion”

“Abortion actually is healing”

“Abortion actually is selfless”

Yeah right. Using language to make Orwell proud, killing babies is now loving and compassionate. In his dystopian novel 1984 Orwell spoke about “Doublethink”: “Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one’s mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them.”

In the totalitarian society featured in the book, Big Brother has excelled at the use of euphemism and the destruction of language. For example, on the outside wall of the Ministry of Truth building there are three slogans of ‘The Party’: “WAR IS PEACE,” “FREEDOM IS SLAVERY,” “IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH.”

Now we have exactly the same thing from the pro-aborts: “BABY KILLING IS LOVE.” “BABY KILLING IS COMPASSION.” “BABY KILLING IS HEALING.” “BABY KILLING IS SELFLESS.” Big Brother would readily welcome these folks into their fold. They have perfected the art of covering up evil with sugar-coated niceties.

Um, let me bring things back to earth. Killing babies – often in the most painful and excruciating fashion – is not loving nor compassionate. It is among the most hateful things anyone can do. The baby certainly experiences no love or compassion while being pulled from limb to limb.

And abortion certainly brings no healing to the baby – it brings only one thing: death. And there is nothing selfless about this – it is the height of selfishness. Killing your own child so that you can progress in your career or live “unencumbered” with the responsibility of a child is the epitome of self-centeredness.

Yet these Orwellian baby killers have managed to outdo Big Brother is completely twisting truth into lies, evil into good. They have studied 1984 very well indeed. They have not only perfected what is described there, but they have even managed to go beyond it. They have out-Big Brothered Big Brother.

As I say, Orwell would be so very proud of these folks. But of course all those who defend and promote abortion will be hating on those of us who dare to tell the truth here. They will be further enraged that their dirty little secrets are being exposed. And Orwell spoke to this reality as well: “The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those that speak it.”

  1. Hi Bill, I want to commend you for all the effort you put in to wading through a “cesspit” of horrific facts and statistics in compiling this article. I for one certainly hope that The Lord Jesus doesn’t leave it too long before He returns, otherwise there will be very little to return to! Society as we know it is progressively imploding on itself, and one of the major symptoms of this is sadly portrayed in the final sentence of your article; “The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those who speak it”. As always Bill, KEEP DISHING IT OUT, Blessings in abundance, Kel.

  2. Shakespeare comes to mind,
“the devil hath power to assume a pleasing shape”
“look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under it”.
not to mention the Scriptures ,
“men love darkness because their deeds are evil”.

  3. Koorong have a book and movie out called Unplanned ,by Abby Johnston.
Well worth a read and a look!

  4. I think that the love between a couple is wonderful. I have been married for 7 Years. The most beautiful expression of love is when they want to have a child together. The word love is used carelessly these days. Some people say love when they really mean sex. The lefties talk about love but they really mean sex and not love. “Love is love.” We need to be aware of what they really mean. Under Marxist theory they say that the family must be abolished. They want to get rid of the traditional family. Most people seem to be unaware of this. The media is pushing issues such as abortion, divorce, de facto relationships, single parenthood, adultery, LGBT and gay marriage, etc. The media is pushing these issues very hard. The media wants to destroy the traditional family. We need to consider the social consequences of abortion. Our society has very low birth rates. They are too low to replace the population. We have an ageing society. There will not be enough money for health care and pensions. We need our citizens to have more children and not less. We should not expect migrants to do what we should be doing ourselves. There have been great people in history such as Shakespeare, Einstein, Da Vinci and Mozart. If someone has an abortion they may be aborting someone who will become a great person. One of these great people can even help increase crop yields so that there is more food for everyone. Even a poor family may have a child who will become a great person of history. We need to consider all aspects of abortion.

  5. Thanks Bill.
In the 1950’s, Planned Parenthood had a brochure that described its wares thus; “An abortion……..It kills the life of a baby after it has begun”.

    This stuff then morphs into:
    • Women’s healthcare
    • Basic human right
    • Essential part of healthcare
    • Safe common healthcare
    • Reproductive healthcare
    • Women’s access to healthcare
    • Reproductive health justice
    • Reproductive health act
    • Reproductive decision
    • and so on….

And of course, STD’s (diseases) have now been relabelled as STI’s (sexually transmitted infections).
    What is next?
Men morph into women – no never, who would fall for that one?

  6. Thank you, Bill.
As long as the Lord sees fit to keep me on this earth, I will never stop calling out abortion (and its proponents) as the evil, murderous, destructive, hateful, cruel and inhuman act it really is. I will do my best to expose the lies and double-talk, and speak on behalf of those little ones who cannot speak for themselves. At any time the hate and opposition seems too much, all I have to do is think of the agony of the last minutes of just one of these innocent little victims of satanic evil.

  7. “Most Eugenists are Euphemists. I mean merely that short words startle them, while long words soothe them. And they are utterly incapable of translating the one into the other, however obviously they mean the same thing. Say to them ‘The persuasive and even coercive powers of the citizen should enable him to make sure that the burden of longevity in the previous generation does not become disproportionate and intolerable, especially to the females’; say this to them and they will sway slightly to and fro like babies sent to sleep in cradles. Say to them ‘Murder your mother,’ and they sit up quite suddenly. Yet the two sentences, in cold logic, are exactly the same.” – G.K. Years ago I read pro-Choice author, Linda Bird Francke’s, The Ambivalence of Abortion. Penguin, Harmondsworth, 1980. The title is a surprisingly candid admission from one whom we’d expect to be predisposed to an “all-good” appraisal of her topic…

  8. Bill, you give us an insight into the minds of convenience killers. You clearly expose the mindset of a demonic ideology.
The advertising posters are nothing but a rotten at the core, big brother hard sell. How can any sane, rational compassionate, loving individual possibly wallow in their joy of death camps?
When talking about the skills of weasel wording, take the climate change mongers. Now the Greens are making political mileage about climate change.

  9. “…abortion actually is an act of love, an act of compassion, an act of healing, and an act of selflessness.”

I think that this quote is one of the most disgusting, anger-inducing things I have ever read.

I have noticed this change in language usage in the Australian media too. Altering the language of a nation is indeed the very key to manipulating a population resistant to ungodly ideologies, policies and laws.

There is a natural, godly resistance to these issues, a natural moral reflex but this can be eroded by continual exposure to state propaganda.

Unfortunately there is no way to combat this, as the ruling elite of the world finance the promotion of this evil and government and NGOs facilitate it.

All we can do is pray.

  10. Dear Bill,
Off topic, but this advert should raise serious concerns about Corporate America setting the moral compass within America and in other countries. Sprite (owned by Coca Cola) released an advert last week that appeared on Argentina’s social media platforms that celebrated mothers helping their children with gender confusion to bind their breasts, apply makeup, and dress in drag in order to celebrate their LGBTQ “pride.” The world is really in very serious trouble. Satan is working overtime to pervert the created order and create confusion.

    God bless,

  11. If abortion was medical care, why would pictures of dead fetuses send them into uncontrolled rage? If abortion is so right such images would inspire awe at the power of choice or feminism. Fetuses are unhuman when unwanted, human when wanted. If abortions were done only for extremely rare medically necessary ones (hardly any) you might find one single abortion clinic per state and they would not be busy. The unborn are a patient within a patient not disposable because someone says so. With such advanced medicine and technology deliberate willful killing of unborn is almost never necessary.
