Islam, Refugees, and Clueless Christians

There is always a danger of supplanting biblical Christianity with the latest political agendas and ideologies. I see this so often with Christians uncritically absorbing all the latest secular left nonsense. They just end up as rabid secular lefties with a bit of Christianese thrown in.

As but one example, I used to know a gal who was once a good biblical Christian. But then she changed, and now the only thing she posts is rabid leftist rubbish straight out of the world of the Greens, the ABC, the Age, etc. It is now all frenzied Abbott-hatred and angry views on asylum seeker policy, etc.

Biblical truth and reasonable analysis are now gone. Instead it is all government-bashing leftism. She even said she was sick of hearing about criticism of Islam and the IS. I replied: ‘Of course you are not one of those being killed, tortured, raped, etc, so it is easy for you to say you are tired of hearing about this.’

Then she actually claimed that our treatment of people in detention centres is just the same as what IS is doing! Such appalling moral equivalence is of course utter foolishness: no, there is nothing at all morally similar between sensible and careful immigration policies and what the Islamic State is doing around the world.

No one is condemning genuine compassion and care for refugees and asylum seekers, especially legitimate ones, and not just economic refugees or queue jumpers. But far too often these believers have simply bought into failed and dangerous left-wing policies which actually make matters worse. By regurgitating the standard lines of the radical Greens, the Socialist Alliance, or the Guardian newspaper, they simply compound problems.

And where were all these ‘concerned Christians’ when the left was in power here, when hundreds were dying at sea, drowning because of failed leftist policies? I never heard a peep out of these so-called caring Christians then. But when Abbott got in, stopped the boats, and saved countless lives, then their hate and rants went into hyper-drive.

One has to ask these lefties just how many refugee families they have taken into their own homes. And if not, why not. They love to sit in Pharasaical judgment on others for not being as “compassionate” as they are. But there is nothing compassionate in insisting that others do something when they will not do anything. Sorry folks, but this just reeks of lousy hypocrisy.

Importing chaos and terrorism

isis 6Not only do dodgy leftist policies simply exacerbate the problem and make things worse, but clueless Christians who insist that we take in all refugees, open slather, no questions asked, are utterly naïve about the reality of terrorism and how it works. The truth is, their misguided “compassion” will see far more bloodshed on Western streets.

A failure to promote proper immigration and assimilation is one big problem. Allowing terrorists to enter a country pretending to be refugees is another big problem. The situation in Sweden is a good case in point. Some eye-opening articles on the situation there need to be read by everyone. Here are a few snippets from these pieces:

So far, in 2015, 150,000 asylum seekers have been registered; but as there is nowhere to house them, people are sleeping in tents, on cardboard boxes in exhibition halls, and even on the street. Many run away from the Immigration Service facilities. More than 22,000 people are supposed to be deported but refuse to leave. Swedes are understandably terrified that terrorists might be hiding among the refugees. The police are busy with pointless border controls and cannot attend to their normal work. It is not an exaggeration to say that in this situation, Sweden has lost track of pretty much everything.
Even the asylum seekers are complaining. On a Swedish public television program, Uppdrag Granskning, aired on December 2, Salwa, a mother of young children, told the reporter how she is forced to live in an asylum house along with men she called “bad people.” When the reporter explained to Salwa that 10,000 new asylum seekers arrive every week, and this was why everything was topsy-turvy, she replied: “Then close the borders. Stop taking in more people. If you have ten guests in your house and there is not enough room, would you still take in ten more?”

Problems are everywhere:

Once upon a time, there was a safe welfare state called Sweden, where people rarely locked their doors. Now, this country is a night-watchman state — each man is on his own. When the Minister of Justice, Morgan Johansson, encourages breaking the law, it means opening the gates to anarchy. Mr. and Mrs. Swede have every reason to be worried, with the influx of 190,000 unskilled and unemployed migrants expected this year — equivalent to 2% of Sweden’s current population. The number is as if 6.4 million penniless migrants who did not speak English arrived in U.S. in one year, or 1.3 million in Britain.
And the Swedes are preparing: demand for firearms licenses is increasing; more and more Swedes are joining shooting clubs and starting vigilante groups. After a slight dip in 2014, the number of new gun permits has gone up significantly again this year. According to police statistics, there are 1,901,325 licensed guns, owned by 567,733 people, in Sweden. Add to this an unknown number of illegal weapons….
Even before the massive influx of migrants in the fall of 2015, Swedes felt a need to protect themselves – and with good reason. Since the Parliament decided in 1975 that Sweden should be multicultural and not Swedish, crime has exploded. Violent crime has increased by more than 300%, and rapes have increased by an unbelievable 1,472%.
The politicians, however, ignore the people’s fear completely. It is never discussed. Instead, the people who express concern about what kind of country Sweden has become are accused of xenophobia and racism. Most likely, that is the reason more and more people are taking matters into their own hands, and protecting themselves and their families to the best of their ability.

Fake passports are now a huge problem for Europeans:

Fake Syrian passports aren’t exactly a dime a dozen, but they can be had for as little as $200, according to a report from the Department of Homeland Security that could call into question the ability to screen Middle East refugees fleeing to the West. The 18-page report, circulated to law enforcement agencies across the nation, warns that a certain batch of Syrian passports – those issued since June 2014 from two regions under the Islamic State control, Deir- ez-Zour and Raqqa – are likely to be phonies, based on the fact one was bought on the black market in Turkey.

Another article on this begins this way:

Authorities in Germany are powerless to halt the asylum claims of tens of thousands of migrants using fake Syrian documents, MailOnline can reveal. Officials registering applications have been overwhelmed by the 500,000-plus refugees who have streamed into the country since the beginning of the year. A huge number of claims for asylum that are supported by passports and identity cards that appear to be false, a police forensic expert has revealed. MailOnline highlighted the roaring trade in false Syrian documents in September. The exclusive story revealed how a reporter bought a Syrian passport, identity card and driving licence for $2000 under the name of a real man who was killed in Aleppo.

The Swiss are also fully aware of these realities:

Two people of Syrian origin have been arrested in Geneva on suspicion of transporting ‘explosives and toxic gases’ as part of a probe into a terror threat. Traces of explosives were found in the suspects’ car, but toxic gas was not, Geneva prosecutor Olivier Jornot revealed today.
Mr Jornot said the two men, who spoke Arabic, had just arrived in Geneva. More arrests are expected to be made in the coming days amid heightened security on Switzerland’s border with France. He sidestepped questions on whether the men had visas which allowed them to travel freely through the passport Schengen zone.
The two men are accused of the ‘manufacture, concealment and transport of explosives and toxic gases’, the federal prosecutor’s office has said. They are also under suspicion of violating Swiss law prohibiting ‘groups like Al-Qaeda, Islamic State and similar organisations’, it added.

Or consider Finland:

Two members of an ISIS death squad which murdered at least 1,700 people have been arrested posing as refugees in Finland—and that country’s security services have identified at least another 300 “refugees” with confirmed terrorist links. The two ISIS death squad members – identified only as 23-year-old twin brothers from Iraq – were arrested after being identified as having been part of the murderous gang which massacred thousands of Iraqi air force recruits by shooting them in the back of the head.
The massacre was filmed by ISIS and put onto the Internet, but the participants were not hooded, allowing for later identification of the gunmen. The two ISIS murderers entered Finland in September, claiming to be refugees, and were housed at an invader center in the southwestern town of Forssa. It was there that they were arrested on Tuesday, December 8, after they were positively identified from the ISIS video.

Of course many people are leaving their Islamic hell-holes to enjoy the freedom and prosperity of the West. And who could blame them? But that does not a refugee make. One media outlet featured a very revealing interview of a Syrian “refugee” and why he came:

The confession is contained in an article prepared by a well-known Iranian-born writer living in Germany, Ramin Peymani, and published in that newspaper’s German edition. The article, titled Der Syrer – eine Flüchtlingsgeschichte (“The Syrians—a Refugee Story,” Dec. 2, 2015), starts off by Peymani explaining that he met up with the Syrian refugee by chance in the checkout line at a local grocery store in Germany.
Being Iranian, Peymani could speak fluently with the “refugee,” who freely admitted that he, and all the others claiming to be refugees, were not fleeing war, but had merely come in search of jobs and money. The Syrian told Peymani that his mother lived in America, and that his sister was still in Syria. “Did you escape with your mother? Why your sister has not come?” Peymani asked. “No, I did not flee. None of us had to flee,” the Syrian freely admitted.
“The Assad regime is cruel and unjust, but you can live in Syria, if you just don’t mess with it.” Peymani then asked if the Syrian had then fled from the Islamic State terrorists. The Syrian’s answer in this regard was revealing as well:
“I come from Damascus, like most of us [refugees] do that I’ve met in the camp. There is no IS [in Damascus]; it is in other regions, for example, towards Iraq.” Peymani then asked him the logical next question: “Are you saying that most Syrians do not flee from war and persecution?”
The Syrian answered: “Yes. My friends and I went because we didn’t want to go to the army. And because it is easier to get a good job and earn money in Europe.” Peymani then wanted to know why so many Syrians had come so suddenly. “Why now are so many coming? Is it because the Assad regime has become worse?”
The Syrian replied: “No. He [Assad] has been in power many years already. The regime is cruel and can kill opponents, but my family and I have not been touched, and none of my friends either.” So why had they all now come to Europe, Peymani asked, to which the Syrian replied: “In the summer we saw on the Internet that Germany wanted people to live there. We were invited to come here. And it was said that the state would take care of us and we would be given jobs. But I cannot find one…”

Many more such stories can be shared here. But the truth is, much of European refugee policy is a complete shambles. There is of course a place for genuine refugees to be helped by the West. But this must be done with the utmost care, caution and wisdom. Sadly all that seems to be in short supply.

In the name of a faulty notion of “compassion” we have created huge problems, and we are not helping those we claim to be helping. And if in our zeal to appear tolerant and accepting we end up allowing many terrorists into our countries, everyone will suffer as a result.

  1. My question always is this. “If Islam claims to be a “religion of peace” and their self-titled prophet is claimed to be the “perfect exemplar” why are some many willing to risk life and limb to escape the consequences of this “peace” and those who fight in the name of the “perfect exemplar”. IS/IS/L Daesh or whatever moniker comes next is supposed to be seeking a return to the origins of Islam, by setting up a caliphate under the Sharia and in accord with their prophet’s teaching. So true adherents of the faith shouldn’t be running away- they should be welcoming their liberators with open arms. It appear the only arms which are open to these zealots are Kalashnikovs.

  2. I wish people would support the real refugees, the Christians and not blindly jump on the bandwagon of supporting all refugees. It’s so frustrating when they are silent and unsupportive when you tell them of atrocities and persecutions suffered by Christians yet are busy fundraising for the very group of people who did the atrocities…

  3. I came across this info recently.
Back in Nov 2014, the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies, a social research outfit based in Doha, Qatar, published a survey they have conducted on Arab citizens, including Syrian refugees specifically (http://english.dohainstitute.org/file/Get/40ebdf12-8960-4d18-8088-7c8a077e522e).
They discovered that 13% of Syrian refugees had positive views of Islamic State (Figure 11) and an even larger 31% opposed efforts to destroy IS (Figure 2).

  4. Whilst Mohammedans pour into the West, our judges and courts are driving a coach and horses through the justice system. Witnesses are silenced, fabricated evidence is presented as fact and truth is denied. As a consequence, Muslims are moving one way, into Europe, and Christians are wondering where they can go in the opposite direction, to flee persecution in their own countries.

C.S Lewis said ‘The most dangerous thing you can do is to take any one impulse [ such as the demand for tolerance , or kindness] of your own nature and set it up as the thing you ought to follow at all costs. There is not one of them which will not make us into devils if we set it up as an absolute guide. You might think love of humanity in general was safe, but it is not. If you leave out justice and truth you will find yourself breaking agreements and faking evidence in trials ‘for the sake of humanity ’, and become in the end a cruel and treacherous man’, Mere Christianity, Chapter II.

Michael D. O’Brien, a Roman Catholic says ‘How long will it take for our people to understand that when humanist sentiments replace moral absolutes, it is not long before very idealistic people begin to invade human families in the name of the family, and destroy human lives in the name of humanity [ diversity, inclusion, equality and all the rest of politically correct vomit] ? This is the idealist’s greatest temptation, the temptation by which nations and cultures so often fall. The wielder of power is deluded into thinking he can remould reality into a less unkind condition. If he succeeds in convincing his people of the delusion and posits for them an enemy of the collective good, then unspeakable evils can be released in society. Those who share a mass-delusion rarely recognise it as such, and can pursue the most heinous acts in a spirit of self-righteousness.’

These cases of children torn from their Christian parents in Sweden and Norway are just the beginning of an attack on all Christian families. This is a new kind of warfare that does not have to use nuclear warfare; all you have to do is threaten to take away children from any parents who refuse to follow political correctness.

The same demand that we make kindness an absolute is made when we consider the other set of terrorists in our midst, the homosexuals. Listen to Ian McKellen (at 40 seconds into this video clip), saying that we should be kind to one another.

  5. The following has already probably been highlighted on your site Bill, but I thought to make a little compilation or tasty meal:
First we have the entre with a joint statement made by Thomas Jefferson and John Adams in 1786; then we have the main course with a statement, made in 1829, by John Quncey Adams; finally we have the sweet with Winston Churchill’s magisterial statement made in 1899

    1) Thomas Jefferson & John Adams 1786
“We took the liberty to make some enquiries concerning the ground of their pretensions to make war upon nations who had done them no injury, and observed that we considered all mankind as our friends who had done us no wrong, nor had given us any provocation.

The Ambassador [of Tripoli] answered us that it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman who should be slain in battle was sure to go to Paradise.

{Letter from the commissioners, John Adams & Thomas Jefferson, to John Jay, 28 March 1786}”

    http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/fighting_words/2007/01/jeffersons_quran.html

    2) John Quncey Adams 1829
The precept of the koran is, perpetual war against all who deny, that Mahomet is the prophet of God. The vanquished may purchase their lives, by the payment of tribute; the victorious may be appeased by a false and delusive promise of peace; and the faithful follower of the prophet, may submit to the imperious necessities of defeat: but the command to propagate the Moslem creed by the sword is always obligatory, when it can be made effective. The commands of the prophet may be performed alike, by fraud, or by force (Blunt, 29:274).

    3) Winston Church 1899

Paul Weston was arrested at Winchester for reading Winston Churchills summation of Islam

No amount of reasoning, appeal to democracy, has any effect on the bleeding hearts and useful idiots who run our governements, so how will such appeals have any effect on Islam?
The only earthly power that has ever crushed Islam is that of Genghis Khan.

  6. Great article and comments as well. I am so grateful to read other Christians who are not clueless. It is the cluelessness of Christians that is hardest for me to take.
We are under invasion here in the states due to President Obama’s ‘fundamental transformation of America.’ He is facilitating it from our southern border and bringing in huge numbers of Muslim’s from countries hostile to us and has no ability to vet them properly. As I write the entire Los Angeles school district, 640,000 students are being evacuated due to a terrorist threat. We will continue to have threats and terrorists acts until we secure our borders and stop immigration until we can put an effective vetting process in place.
Back to clueless Christians, a few weeks ago I went to a favorite site of mine for Christian teaching and this was the lead article: http://www.desiringgod.org/articles/building-his-church-in-a-refugee-crisis
This was before the San Bernardino massacre, but the point of the article was that as Christians we should not care too much about our safety and about our survival as a nation because God is bringing these refugees to us to expand his kingdom.
The author gives no consideration to the complexity and seriousness of the influx of all these refugees and immigrants and the consequences.
Elsewhere I read that we are just supposed to welcome strangers. It is as if being a Christian is reduced to being nice. I am beyond weary of real and serious issues being responded to in ignorant and simplistic ways.

  7. Politically correct liberalism is a contradiction in terms and sows the seeds of totalitarianism. Radical Islam is also totalitarian in nature. The only bulwark against this is our belief in that which we have not seen but whose code we know and trust to be true, in which we can find peace and strength, knowing that good will triumph over evil in the end. I believe a supernatural intervention will be necessary.

  8. David Crabb the author of the article referred to above by Suzanne Wyss, seems to my view, not to understand that follows of the Koran and Mohammed will join forces with the gays in finishing off the job of destroying the church, marriage, the family, children and unborn child, the economy and the military, which already are well on down the path of destruction.
Clearly David Crabb is living in the past, when American values of democracy, law and respect for individual freedom were founded upon the Magna Carta, which in turn had been written through the lens of the Bible and the Christian faith, in spite of the claims of secularists like the Member of the European Parliament, Daniel Hannan. Much of what he says is true and must not be forgotten, but not being a Christian, how would he understand its underlying Christian principles?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhVnHQVbtB8

But the rot was already in America when it refused to give asylum to 1000 Jewish refugees, during WW11.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaiU9YJmod0

just as Obama as doing today with refusing entry of Christian refugees.

    http://www.christiantoday.com/article/iraqi.christian.refugees.turned.away.by.usa/66319.htm

The truth of the matter is that it will be against the law for David Crabb to witness to Muslims as this will be deemed as inciting Islamophobia, just as witnessing to gays is deemed as inciting hatred to towards gays.
