The Relentless War On Faith, Family and Freedom – and What We Can Do About It

Jul 17, 2017

We all know about the murderous Islamic terror groups such as IS and all the horrific persecution of Christians and others they are involved in. Christians in the West are also facing persecution, although admittedly nowhere near as severe – so far. But for those on the receiving end of this persecution it is real enough.

It often involves loss of employment, hefty fines or even some jail time. And the bulk of this is coming at the hands of the radical homosexual militants who are on a search and destroy mission. They are seeking to wipe out every last vestige of opposition and resistance. And this ugly assault on religious freedom is so very often directly connected with the war on marriage and family.

Examples of this are easy to come by. Here is a baker’s dozen, offering more sobering cases of this happening as we speak:

Christians sued for not allowing homosexual ceremonies
March 8, 2017
Once you start down the path of redefining marriage to include anything other than the exclusive union of a man and a woman, it’s not long before those who firmly disagree with that redefinition begin to see their values come under assault. And that is just what has happened in Illinois. Christian bed and breakfast owners are being sued by homosexuals for not allowing the use of their facilities for a gay “civil union” ceremony. And since (as of this June) the state of Illinois legally allows such unions, the complaint is over discrimination, and the Illinois Attorney General’s office is investigating.

Texas Judge Sued for Beginning Courtroom Sessions With Prayer
March 22, 2017
A Texas judge is being sued in federal court by the nation’s leading secularist legal organization because of his courtroom tradition of having guest pastors and chaplains offer an invocation before each session. The Wisconsin-based Freedom From Religion Foundation, which advocates for a strict separation of church and state, filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against Montgomery County Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack that argues that he has repeatedly violated the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution by holding Christian prayers at the beginning of each session.

canberra dec 2Safety fears at Christian charities
March 28, 2017
Two Christian charities have been granted official permission to keep their board members’ names secret on the grounds of “public safety”, after abuse and threats from gay activists forced an IBM executive to sever his links with a Christian education group. The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission yesterday agreed to keep the boards of the Lachlan Macquarie Institute and the Australian Christian Lobby off the public record because publication “could endanger public safety”.

New law allows government to take children away if parents don’t accept kids’ ‘gender identity’
June 5, 2017
Ontario, Canada passed a law that allows government to intervene in family life if parents of children with gender identity issues don’t accept their kids’ “gender expression,” Lifesite News reports. Bill 89 — also known as The Supporting Children, Youth and Families Act of 2017 — was overwhelmingly passed in Ontario with a 63 to 23 vote.
The new law stipulates that children’s services workers and family judges take into consideration a child’s “race, ancestry, place of origin, color, ethnic origin, citizenship, family diversity, disability, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression” when determining whether or not a child will remain with their parents or foster families.

The European Court of Human Rights sentences a little British boy to death
June 28, 2017
Charlie Gard is a ten-month baby who suffers from a rare genetic condition. His parents refused to give up on him, and fundraised nearly 1.4 million British pounds so they could take him to the United States to undergo a therapy trial. But that was before Charlie was sentenced to death by British doctors—and that sentence was upheld by the courts , culminating in the final rejection of the final desperate appeal of Chris Gard and Connie Yates by the European Court of Human Rights.

June 28, 2017
An Orthodox Jewish primary school is violating the law by not teaching three-year-olds about “gender reassignment” and “sexual orientation,” a government inspection determined. Vishnitz Girls School teaches 212 girls as young as three and as old as 11. An unannounced May 10 government inspection determined it’s not in compliance with 2010 “equality” legislation.

Netherlands Considers Euthanasia For Healthy People, Doctors Say Things Are ‘Getting Out Of Hand’
June 30, 2017
Politicians in the Netherlands are discussing the possibility of legalizing euthanasia for healthy people. The proposed “Completed Life Bill” would allow any person age 75 or over who decides their life is “complete” to receive euthanasia. It doesn’t matter if they are otherwise perfectly healthy. Under current Dutch law, a person only becomes eligible for euthanasia when they have a terminal illness and are suffering unbearably. Pia Dijkstra, an MP for Dutch political party D66, is preparing to introduce the Completed Life Bill. D66 spearheaded most of the groundbreaking socially progressive legislation for which the Netherlands is famous.

Bishop under fire for denying funerals for people in same-sex ‘marriages’ refuses to back down
June 30, 2017
Catholic Bishop Thomas Paprocki’s response to condemnation and controversy after his recent decree on same-sex “marriage” and a follow-up clarifying statement was to reaffirm Church teaching. Asked in a Catholic World Report interview whether being denounced so strongly in the media had been difficult for him, the bishop’s answer also exhibited pastoral leadership. Bishop Paprocki replied, “I’ll take my cue on that question from my patron saint, Sir Thomas More, who said, ’I do not care very much what men say of me, provided that God approves of me.’”

‘Church ministers must marry same-sex couples’, says Swedish PM
July 5, 2017
Ministers in Sweden’s state church cannot “refuse to marry same-sex couples”, the country’s Prime Minister has said. Stefan Löfven announced that church leaders should be required to marry same-sex couples – even if they disagree with homosexual marriage. The Church of Sweden currently allows its ministers to opt out of weddings, baptisms, and funerals for any reason.
Making the statement on same-sex marriage, Löfven said “no priest in the Swedish Church can refuse to marry same-sex couples”. “If you work as a midwife you must be able to perform abortions, otherwise you have to do something else. It is the same for priests who do not want to perform same-sex marriages”, he added. Marriage was redefined in Sweden in 2009. The Church of Sweden is yet to respond to Löfven’s comments.

As can be seen, a good majority of these cases involves the militant homosexual and transgender activists in action. Faith and freedom are certainly under direct threat by these groups, and the ongoing war against life shows no signs of abating either.

This continuous attack on life, on faith, and on freedom should concern us all. It certainly bothers me enormously. Seven years ago I was involved in drafting a document which highlights these three areas. And next Sunday (July 23) will be the 7th anniversary of the Canberra Declaration. Some major players behind it are Warwick Marsh and David Rowsome. They have recently said this:

We are thankful that to date over 74,000 Australian citizens have read and signed the Canberra Declaration. Through informed prayers and actions, the Canberra Declaration community is making a real difference! To celebrate the 7th Anniversary of the Canberra Declaration, we ask that your church take at least 7 minutes on Sunday 23rd of July:
-to give thanks for the Christian values that have made Australia a great place to live, and then
-to pray for their protection.

Please have a look at the site, sign the petition, share it far and wide, and urge your church to participate: www.canberradeclaration.org.au/

This is just one way that we all can make a stand for the things that matter most. Please get involved.

  • Biblical Christianity teaches sodomy as a sin that is contrary to how God made humans “in His image and likeness”….and sodomy is a wheat and tares thing – the Biblical churches oppose sodomy whereas worldly churches approve it – it’s now easier to tell the wheat churches/individuals from the tare churches/individuals. Plus, all the animal kingdom can only procreate by opposite sex partners (the homosexual ones – if any have ever existed – would be extinct after only one generation because they cannot reproduce to the next generation – it is unnatural in God’s design of things)….Homosexuals can ONLY recruit and not reproduce, which is why they need to run a perpetial campaign of “gay culture” to find new recruits – their campaign cannot ever end or else their lack of new blood will cause their existance to become extinct….and the so-called scientific evidence being sprouted today that homosexuality exists in the animal kingdom only happens when NO females are present and no bodily penetration happens….unlike human sodomy). God loves the sinner but hates the sin….which is why homosexual marriage is neither “equal”, a “right”, nor “love is love” – to the contrary, it is dangerous and destructive to individuals, families (particularly children) and society as a whole.
If people want to get married and it is lawful to do so, churches can only advise and point people to look at the Bible for themselves. However when the church is being asked or cajoled by society, the media the government or whoever else to modify its teachings or practice then it is the church’s duty and right to defend its independence and to understand and follow God’s truth above any other ideas it may be tempted to entertain. The reformation and the disruption established that principle. So if a denomination or congregation choose to support marriage equality after studying the Bible then that is up to them, but it would be hard to see how they came to that conclusion by putting Scriptural doctrine first.

  • Nietzsche, over a century ago, called for a “revaluing of all values” and demanded that the West “go beyond good and evil” – the logical consequences of a world of madmen intent on celebrating an alleged death of God.

In such a Weltanschauung, humanity itself is something contemptible – something to be overcome – in the quest for the next superhuman storey of Darwin’s evolutionary “castle in the air”. Nietzche’s wasteland has no Elysian Fields.

  • This is all very concerning.
