On the Change of Government

Some thoughts on the new American administration:

Plenty can be said about what has just happened in America with the change at the White House. Everyone has their own spin and slant on this, and I am no different. I write as a Bible-believing Christian and a political conservative. If those things are not to your liking, please look away now.

And as always when I write about big-ticket items like this, I must not only discuss the political, social, ideological and cultural matters, but I must offer a spiritual assessment as well. These issues are far more than just political in nature, and if we omit the spiritual take on them, we will have a very limited and jaundiced perspective.

Here then are a number of random thoughts on the changing of the guard in the US:

-I, like many millions of other Americans, am convinced that genuine questions about widespread election fraud from last November remain, and we have not fully gotten to the bottom of it. And given the overwhelming political bias of those who control the flow of information – the mainstream media and the tech giants – we may never really find out the truth about this.

-Given all the serious questions that remain about the last election, it is possible that America is now no longer able to carry out genuinely free and fair elections. If so, this really is the end of democracy in America. An unholy alliance of leftists in politics, the media, Big Business and the Deep State are helping to bring freedom and democracy in America to an end.

-Of course with the open border policies of the new administration, along with their plans to give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens, this will pretty much guarantee Democrat governments from here on in, since overwhelmingly these illegals will vote Democrat. They will not bite the hand that feeds them.

-The Biden/Harris administration (soon enough to be the Harris admin) is the most radical hard-left admin America has ever witnessed. That is because the Democrats are now further to the militant left than ever before. This admin will even make the Obama and Clinton admins look rather moderate.

-Already a slew of radical moves have been undertaken, mostly undoing so much of the Trump presidency. These range from returning the US to the Paris Climate Accord to appointing transgender health officials. And of course a host of measures to undo Trump’s prolife initiatives have already been put into action. Indeed, all the proabortion plans that this new admin has will make it one of the most morally evil administrations America has ever known.

-Simply being able to push through the so-called Equality Act will transform America in ways not even imaginable just a decade ago. Any Christian or other American who dares to hold to biblical and traditional views on marriage, family and sexuality will be targeted big time. The reprisals for daring to differ will be draconian and relentless. Welcome to a whole new round of persecution.

-All the talk of unity and so on by the Dems of course is just that: talk. They have no desire to unite with their political foes, and they have in fact made it perfectly clear already that a big purge must take place. Anyone associated with Trump in any way will be in their sights, with all sorts of proposals being heard, from refusing them employment to forcing them into re-education facilities. Yes, they have been saying this – and worse. They are not seeking peace and reconciliation – they are seeking revenge and payback.

-I did not watch a second of the inauguration, but just reading the many appalling praise stories about it on the leftist Age site, you know it was bad, and things will get real bad. It is the same schoolgirl giddiness, just like the lamestream media had over Obama. Such is their hatred of Trump. Life will get a whole lot worse from here on in. Thanks a lot Never-Trumpers: you have a lot to answer for.

-Indeed, I am already seeing a number of these Never-Trumpers now acting as if they are unhappy with a Biden admin. Um, really? Sorry, but there was never any question about how their stance would turn out: not voting for Trump meant voting for Biden. There was never any third option. Their hatred of Trump ensured a Biden/Harris presidency. They ARE responsible for this outcome.

-The claims of purity that these folks ran with ring hollow. They are fully complicit with great moral evil by NOT ensuring that Trump – with all his faults – was elected instead of Biden. And they did not have to actually vote for Biden – they just had to refrain from voting for Trump. That was enough to give at least an appearance of victory for Biden (whatever the actual numbers were).

-By seeking to claim the moral high ground in not voting for the lesser of two evils, these folks – including far too many folks who call themselves Christians – have fully ensured that the most evil option DID in fact get in. I am not sure how they can feel smug and morally superior about that outcome.

-The Farewell Speech Trump gave reminds us of what his presidency was all about, and how radically it differs from his successors. Here are a few snippets from it:

Together with millions of hardworking patriots across this land, we built the greatest political movement in the history of our country. We also built the greatest economy in the history of the world. It was about “America First” because we all wanted to make America great again. We restored the principle that a nation exists to serve its citizens. Our agenda was not about right or left, it wasn’t about Republican or Democrat, but about the good of a nation, and that means the whole nation.

With the support and prayers of the American people, we achieved more than anyone thought possible. Nobody thought we could even come close….

This, I hope, will be our greatest legacy: Together, we put the American people back in charge of our country. We restored self-government. We restored the idea that in America no one is forgotten, because everyone matters and everyone has a voice. We fought for the principle that every citizen is entitled to equal dignity, equal treatment, and equal rights because we are all made equal by God. Everyone is entitled to be treated with respect, to have their voice heard, and to have their government listen. You are loyal to your country, and my administration was always loyal to you.

It ended this way:

Now, as I prepare to hand power over to a new administration at noon on Wednesday, I want you to know that the movement we started is only just beginning. There’s never been anything like it. The belief that a nation must serve its citizens will not dwindle but instead only grow stronger by the day.

As long as the American people hold in their hearts deep and devoted love of country, then there is nothing that this nation cannot achieve. Our communities will flourish. Our people will be prosperous. Our traditions will be cherished. Our faith will be strong. And our future will be brighter than ever before.

I go from this majestic place with a loyal and joyful heart, an optimistic spirit, and a supreme confidence that for our country and for our children, the best is yet to come.

Thank you, and farewell. God bless you. God bless the United States of America. https://www.bostonherald.com/2021/01/19/text-read-the-complete-text-of-president-trumps-farewell-address/

-As to spiritual assessment, what I say here will sound familiar, simply because biblical truths are eternal truths, and are always fully applicable. So I have said these sorts of things before about other political and electoral outcomes. They are still true here.

-No politician or political party can save us. Only Jesus Christ can save us. Our problems are ultimately spiritual in nature, so spiritual solutions are required. That said, some politicians and political parties and platforms are better than others. Some come closer to ensuring good outcomes, while some others do not.

-Calvin spoke about how when God wants to judge a nation, he gives the people evil rulers. He is on to something there. Scripture takes the same line. As we read in Proverbs 29:2: “When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.” See more on this here: https://billmuehlenberg.com/2016/02/27/calvin-on-wicked-rulers-and-gods-judgment/

-As we witness darkness descending upon America and the West, we can rightly ask if God’s hand of protection is being withdrawn. If so, we can expect things to get much worse in the days ahead. A new admin in the White House will not be able to turn this around. Only the deep, deep repentance of God’s people can be of any use here.

-Believers are instructed to pray for those who are in authority. So that I will do with Biden and Co. And my prayer will be the same as for all ungodly and wicked rulers: I will pray that they will be improved or removed. I will ask God to either radically save these folks and see their lives – and policies – radically turned around, or to one way or another have them removed from office.

-At the end of the day, regardless of who sits in the White House, God is still on the throne. And he is still working out his good purposes and plans. As to arrogant and wicked rulers, his take on them remains the same. As we read in Psalm 2:1-4:

Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,
“Let us burst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”
He who sits in the heavens laughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.

  1. America died today at noon EST. The greatest secular nation that ever existed is now over. You are right to expect darkness. America died at the hands of true unabashed evil. It is spiritual and it is of our Lord. My only suggested amendment concerns the target of the judgement. I believe that God is judging the western Church. All western nations will be impacted by the high noon horror of today. But it is the western church that will be impacted most. Even now, are church leaders lamenting what just happened? No. They have not been lamenting anything really for years. And the false gospel has filled the church with false professors to such an extent, that we forgot what wheat looks like for all the tares. The Son will have a spotless bride even if the scrubbing wears her raw. But until there is open lament and repentance throughout all the western churches I fear we will feel the lash. I would rather suffer my Father’s scourge than all the delights of Egypt.

  2. ugh the filth moving into the white house is like nero becoming emperor.
good thing is americans have guns and should stand on their constitutional rights to protect themselves… at least they have that. Mind you the problem conservatives have is they literally can’t get their message out due to msm and social media banning them

  3. Take heart Bill, it is always darkest before the dawn. The sleeping giant has awoken now and many more Christians voted for Trump then against. Remember the election was stolen not lost and this is far from over yet. God’s ways are never our ways. It has never been about Trump and as you rightly pointed out it is about the church. God’s true church. Trump has sounded the trumpet, now it is up to the church to march forward under the direction of our King.

  4. G’day Bill, thank you for some strong and gracious words. You are a great comfort in these distressing times. Blessings, peace, and joy in Jesus. Andrew Campbell

  5. Though the days seem dark, each believer who has Hope though faith in Jesus Christ is a light in the darkness. We know darkness is only the absence of light. We also know the Greatest illumination will return to completely obliterate the darkness as Triumphant King and ruler over all nations. This is not the end it is simply a pause, like a person who is sorting jigsaw pieces in too various piles to be then put into their rightful place, which all takes TIME. Let us wait on God’s timing even with our human impatience chomping at the bit. We are assured God is still saving souls whilst we wait. That is the comfort I take at waiting.

  6. C.S. Lewis once wrote that “There is no neutral ground in the universe; every square inch, every split second, is claimed by God and counter-claimed by Satan.”

  7. Thank you Bill.

Whether or not electoral fraud swung the election, I am convinced that Google & Co saw to it that Trump would not win in any case.

It grieves me to write this, but it looks like America is in a death spiral. For one thing, they owe $27tril.

  8. With “Progressive” politics always claiming the “high moral ground”, what was once, in part, the “infernal ethical morass” has been promoted to “higher duties” riding on the cutting edges of each new Post-Modern wave of Dialectical Materialism. Could it be that today’s “Progressives” will, ere long, themselves be relegated to the dustbins of history by the even more “loose-cannon” ideologues of generations yet to come? Moses knew where the real solid, moral high ground is when he sang of that God who is the Rock [Deuteronomy 32:3-6]…

  9. I’m not American (although I’ve been there many times with work, including a couple of months in Sheboygan Falls). But I prayed for a Trump win and was disappointed when he lost. There are ominous signs ahead.

Although the USA doesn’t appear in the Bible, another nation features prominently, and the signs there are looking promising for believers!

Isaiah 60:2 says, “See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples…” Sounds familiar? “But the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you”.

So who is “you” in this verse? Some Christians say it’s the church, but given the greater context of chapters 40 – 66 which are talking about Israel, that’s unlikely. And v9 says “to the honor of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel”, and v14 “… will call you the City of the Lord, Zion of the Holy One of Israel”. So it’s clearly directed to Israel and Jerusalem.

Many things prophecied in this chapter have been fulfilled in recent history:
    * “You have been forsaken and hated, with no one traveling through” (v15). Israel was literally desolate just over a century ago.
    * “Your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the hip … ships of Tarshish bringing your children from afar” (v4 & 9). More Jews have returned to Israel in the past century than during the exodus.
    * “The wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come” (v5). Just over 70 years ago, Israel didn’t exist as a nation. But now its GDP is just above South Korea’s and below New Zealand’s. It’s a world leader in agriculture and medicine, and it’s the second most important software development centre in the world, after Silicon Valley.

OK, these prophecies have been fulfilled, but so what? Well, this chapter begins in darkness but ends with God’s glory on earth: “Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end” (v20). And this encouraging verse at the very end: “I am the Lord; in its time I will do this swiftly” (v22).

“When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near” (Luke 21:28)

  10. This is a very good and wholesome explanation. It gives very sound and wise directions to believers.
I am watching all these heartbreaking and dangerous developments from Australia. May Americans turn to Christ when things worsen.
I did not watch the inauguration because I could not partake in a stolen by fraud election atmosphere.
Quite a few of your blogs are an allegorical exposée of the book of Revelation. I include some of your excerpts in my Bible Studies.
Again, thank you for speaking truthfully.

    Regards

  11. I still have hope Bill as Ted Cruz also made his stand on the matter and we both now that he is a man of God. We still have someone strong on the inside, and it is Ted Cruz who will face the brunt in Washington as it is he who will be looked upon as the challenger to Biden if Trump doesn’t stand.

Trump did wrong by Cruz when they ran for the presidency and Cruz then left it to the last minute to support Trump as the nominee, but once Trump became the President Cruz then stood by him. Trump won’t forget that and there for I see Trump’s base as Cruz’s base – if Trump gives his base the nod.

All in all I think both Trump and Cruz will play the next 4 yrs out between them. After all, they can’t stop Cruz elaborating on anything that Trump has to say publicly. I really don’t think the Democrats have thought it all through.

Thanks Bill for all your good work and God Bless.

  12. On the 6pm ABC radio news in Tasmania, there was a story about a statement issued by US Catholic bishops, condemning the moral evil of Mr Biden’s abortion policy. How clever of the ABC newsroom to immediately follow up with a story of child sexual abuse in the Catholic church…!

  13. Thanks for your comments Bill. Praying for our leaders, and also praying for you. God bless.

    Mike

  14. Thanks Bill. I agree with your sentiments. However I still believe the prophets were right unlike others who have apologised or compromised like Michael Brown. Delay is not denial. Having said that I think the church will arise in action and 75 million of Trump supporters will be energised to over turn the results. Praying the courts will come through including the military courts. A stolen election will need to be proved and the winner appointed.

  15. Thank you Bill. You are spot on as usual as to what is and will happen as a result of this fraudulent election result. I agree this does make it seem like dark days are ahead of us not only here in Australia but the western world if America spirals out of control with the Dems at the helm of government. But God is in control and we need to trust Him in all circumstances. Bless you Bill.

  16. Biden ‘appropriated’ Christian imagery for his inauguration. Considering his actual stances, that just makes it all the more perverted:
    https://www.lifesitenews.com/opinion/biden-inauguration-cohorts-invoke-gods-name-but-ignore-his-laws

“As we witness darkness descending upon America and the West, we can rightly ask if God’s hand of protection is being withdrawn.”
The notion that America is being judged is not to be dismissed lightly. As I understand it, things have been going downhill for sometime.
Many people may point to the 1962 US Supreme Court decision to outlaw public school prayers as a turning point, but the hostility actually began even earlier with the 1890 Edgerton Bible Case, where the Wisconsin Supreme Court outlawed Bible readings in public school. And there were probably other issues before then.
When all sorts of things and ideas may be allowed in public school but the Bible/prayers/Christianity is specifically proscribed, you know what they ultimately don’t want allowed in that society.

  17. To Denis Vulinovich,

Israel’s re-emergence is most impressive but upon closer inspection, there are issues.

For instance, isn’t it true that Israel or more specifically the Jewish people in general has since the time of Jesus and the first apostles all the way to the present, remain the most consistent people group in rejecting Jesus as Lord, God and Saviour? And isn’t this rejection asking for God’s judgement ultimately?

Meanwhile, do you know that modern Israel wants to be known as a gay-friendly country?
    https://mfa.gov.il/MFA/IsraelExperience/Pages/Gay_Israel.aspx

And what on earth do we make of Israel’s decision to supply advanced weapons to Islamic Azerbaijan against Christian Armenia in their recent conflict?

  18. Dear Bill,

Thank you for this truly enlightening article. I couldn’t agree with it more. When I think of my American pen friend who I corresponded with just after the war when England was experiencing terrible austerity I could weep for the way ordinary decent Americans must be feeling now. Carlotta Ferguson might be dead now for all I know because I lost touch with her decades ago but she and her family left such an impression on me and my family that I have never forgotten her. She will always be the embodiment of Americanism for me.Kind, generous, hard working, patriotic and with a love of freedom which they inherited from their British cousins.

I also think that Donald Trump with all his flaws was the embodiment of the American spirit for the millions of ordinary Americans who voted for him and they will not forget him. They have had their eyes opened wide as never before so all is not lost.We have to believe that. God is still in charge.

I felt compelled to write a letter to the West after the farce of the inauguration commenting on the hypocrisy of the Democrats saying they are going to unite the nation with 30,000 National guardsmen standing by and fences erected to shut the people out. The whole thing reminded me of a coup. Knowing the bias of the MSM it may not get printed or I will be labelled a conspiracy theorist but I had to do something.

  19. “…pretty much guarantee Democrat governments from here on in, since overwhelmingly these illegals will vote Democrat. ”
What a pity the constitution was geared to prevent tyranny by a single leader, but they never envisioned tyranny by fat government and their friends in big corporations, who are well aware of where their votes come from. They needed to add one more thing. If more than 50% of your income is from the government then your vote is disallowed. It’s a paid vote afterall, which eventually distorts any democracy into a welfare state. It’s just a matter of time.

  20. Yes quite so Tim. In fact, originally the Founding Fathers wanted to restrict the vote to property owners. There was a good reason for that. Now we have the problem of those living on government handouts and ‘entitlements’. People will always vote for Santa Claus in such situations.

  21. Truth be told, even if the “never-trumpers” had voted for Trump after all (hopefully because they came to their senses and realized that Biden and his puppeteers must NOT be allowed to come into power) their votes would have been diverted to Biden through the fraudulent voting machines.
We have but a bit of narrow hope and a lot of prayer right now that the theft of this election can still be exposed and therefore nullify this fradulent inauguration.
When Trump won by such a large margin in 2018 many democrats took up the chant “Not my President” and held onto that for 4 VERY LONG years, backed up by every corner of the mainstream media. However, with the electoral college votes and misrepresentation of the true vote now, many of we conservatives who voted for Trump can only say this “NOT A PRESIDENT AT ALL”

  22. Well Mark yes darkness is descending in fact we are in dusk. A dark and terrible storm is coming God is the only way we will survive.

As far the Jews they will accept the AC as their messiah and it will cost them only when he turn on them will they reject him but still it won’t be till the end they finally cry out blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
