Let’s Con Those Gullible Christians

It looks like the Greens and Labor are having a competition to see who can win the homosexual booby prize. They are stumbling over each other as they rush to get same-sex marriage legalised in Australia. They are nicely showing their true colours here – both are in bed with the militant activists, and don’t give a rip about the rest of the country.

And they are hoping that most Christians will be so clueless that they can get away with this, simply by promising to make ‘exemptions’ for churches so they won’t have to do the marrying. Yeah right, tell me about it. There is no such thing. Once this goes through, every Christian in the country – expect for those who have already sold their souls to the devil on this issue – will be adversely impacted.

Here is how a breaking news story describes these moves: “Two pieces of legislation aiming to legalise same-sex marriage will be presented to federal parliament next week. Labor backbencher Stephen Jones will table his private member’s bill on Monday, while a second will be jointly sponsored by Greens MP Adam Bandt and Tasmanian independent MP Andrew Wilkie.

“Both are likely to include protections for churches that refuse on religious grounds to marry same-sex couples. Mr Bandt wants both bills referred to a parliamentary inquiry which is considering another piece of Greens legislation on the same issue.

“While he and Mr Wilkie were moving early on the matter, Mr Bandt cautioned the best approach to get the laws through would be to take time and make it a cooperative multi-party effort. He wants all MPs to vote according to their conscience. Labor MPs have been given a free vote on the issue, but not those in the coalition. The Greens deny trying to usurp Labor efforts. Mr Bandt said he tried to meet Mr Jones this morning to discuss cooperating on the issue but the Labor MP had cancelled.”

It does not matter a hill of beans how many “protections” they try to seduce naive Christians with: same-sex marriage is always and only a bad idea, regardless of whether churches get a bit of reprieve or not. I have just written a new book documenting the many reasons why SSM will be bad news for everyone. And this site has plenty of articles where I also spell this out as well.

And any so-called exemptions will not be worth the paper they are written on. Every Christian will be impacted by this. Whether you make wedding cakes, rent out halls for public functions, do marriage ceremonies, or rent out rooms, all will be forced to deny conscience and faith, and cater to the activists’ every whim.

You see, once something is legalised, and a new “right” is created for a special interest group, there will be corresponding obligations placed on everyone else. If there is a newfound “right” to SSM, then all Australians will be expected by law to conform to this new right, and cater to it.

But don’t take my word for it. Just look at what has happened around the rest of the world. Wherever special rights have been given to the homosexual lobby, it has been real bad news for the rest of the community – Christians especially.

Here are just a few recent examples of this. I simply offer the headline, date, and opening paragraph of the news reports:

“Canadian Court: Marriage officials must marry homosexuals”
January 10, 2011
“The Saskatchewan Court of Appeal declared this morning that proposed legislative amendments that would have allowed Saskatchewan’s marriage commissioners to refuse to perform same-sex ‘marriages’ on religious grounds are unconstitutional.”

“Army: court-martial Chaplains for ‘religious, conscience’ objection to homosexuality”
March 24, 2011
“The U.S. Army has officially threatened military chaplains they must either embrace the new openly homosexual military, resign from service, or face court-martial for their ‘religious, conscience’ objections.”

“Tory MP calls for churches to be banned from holding marriages if they refuse gay couples”
PinkNews, September 2, 2011

“MPs vote to stop civil servants refusing to carry out gay weddings”
November 15, 2011
“Dutch MPs voted on Tuesday afternoon for a change in the law to prevent civil servants refusing to conduct gay marriages.”

“Lesbian couple mulls action against Christian wedding cake baker”
November 16, 2011
“An Iowa baker who politely declined to provide a wedding cake for two lesbians based on her Christian values may face legal action from the couple.”

“Gay rights activist calls for boycott of Salvation Army Christmas fundraiser”
November 28, 2011
“Gay rights activists who object to the Salvation Army’s biblical stance on homosexuality are launching their annual call to shut down the organization’s Christmas fundraiser.”

“A New Jersey judge ruled against a Christian retreat house that refused to allow a same-sex civil union ceremony to be conducted on its premises, ruling the Constitution allows ‘some intrusion into religious freedom to balance other important societal goals’.”
January 12, 2012

“Attorney Says School Threatened, Punished Boy Who Opposed Gay Adoption”
January 24, 2012
“A 15-year-old Wisconsin boy who wrote an op-ed opposing gay adoptions was censored, threatened with suspension and called ignorant by the superintendent of the Shawano School District, according to an attorney representing the child.”

And one of the prime pieces of evidence is what has happened in the American state of Massachusetts. Since they legalised SSM in 2004, all hell has broken out. This is all very nicely documented in this very important paper which every single one of you should read: http://www.massresistance.org/docs/marriage/effects_of_ssm.html

So do not for one minute let these slick shysters con you into thinking, ‘well, maybe it won’t be so bad – they are kindly allowing us a bit of room here.’ They are doing nothing of the kind. They are just trying to lull to sleep those gullible and naive Christians out there who really don’t have a clue what is really going on here. They thrive on our ignorance and apathy.

So please, every one of you, look at the document I linked to above. It is only 4 pages long, but it will be some of the scariest reading you will have ever come across. But we must know what is going on. The first step in winning this battle is knowing the enemy. The second step is to learn from history. The link above will help you in both areas.

I have also discussed what radical changes have occurred in Massachusetts here: https://billmuehlenberg.com/2010/12/10/same-sex-marriage-who-says-nothing-will-change/

To be fore-warned is to be fore-armed. We dare not let these fraudsters pull a fast one over us. Please take the warning as seriously as you possibly can. If you don’t, and SSM goes through, everything will change. Everything.

  1. As for ‘down under’ so here in the UK Bill. When you say: “Both are likely to include protections for churches that refuse on religious grounds to marry same-sex couples.”… I would add this really ought to be a non-issue entirely for Christians and churches.
The assumption by the State, at least here in the UK, that somehow it has authority to graciously exempt Christian churches from involving their premises in “gay” religious ceremonies! That is the position at the moment, but as you rightly imply it would that freedom would not remain for long!
It is outrageous, for surely Christians must insist that the State does not have such “authority” at any time, to interfere with the internal right of churches to SOLELY adjudicate, in terms of doctrine or practice, as to their independent rights in such matters.
Can we imagine for a moment the Apostles, as say in Acts 5, conceding a role for the “authorities” to determine jurisdiction OVER the Lord’s sovereign mandate to preach the Gospel? The same principle applies on this issue, and the churches will need to re-assert the biblical principle of the total headship of Christ in the governance of his church.
If homosexuals wish to secure what they seek by way of “religious recognition” and endorsement for their concept of “marriage”, then like any other religious sect or group, they are perfectly free to organise their own ceremonies, and in their own premise are they not?.
To imply that Christian churches or their premises should be involved at any level would rank as the deepest hypocrisy, for the two concepts of marriage are mutually incompatible.

  2. Exactly right Graham.

If the state has the power to “grant” exemptions, it will always have the power to take them away. This is simply a state-sanctioned war on faith, freedom and conscience.

  3. The problem is that we have a vocal, activist minority asserting their will on the rest of our societies. When that happens, even if there are supposed “exemptions” for official organizations like churches, the INDIVIDUAL Christian who is NOT acting in an official capacity for a church will have NO protections.

People who don’t go to church assume that Christianity only “happens” in church – and in fact they are being told by some anti-Christian activists that this is the only place it should happen – so they naively assume that granting “exceptions” to churches will avoid any problems.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

  4. Hi Bill, again a brilliant piece of work from your pen–and a necessary prophetic work it is! May I share a quote and some thoughts coming out of this morning’s devotional reading?

Commenting on Deuteronomy 9:4-6, R J Rushdoony had this to say: “When men lost interest in the study of history, very often the reason is that they have first of all lost interest in the study of the Bible. The Bible tells us that history is totally governed by God and cannot be understood apart from Him.

He continues further, “In vs. 4-6, a key word is righteousness or justice. The governing force in history is not man’s justice but God’s. God’s justice governs all of history, and God in His patience often allows injustice to develop its full implications before He moves against it. God often allows evil to develop into maturity so that even the ungodly cry out against it.”

Seems to me that those who are anti-God think they are doing something wonderful by spurning the application of His Law in every facet of life including government, economics, education, morality, the arts, etc. Many Christians despair at the evil we see on every side. Then one day, when the sky is blue and the sun is shining, the sea recedes away from the shoreline and all sorts of rocks and debris are exposed, and people wonder what is happening. They have never seen a tsunami, but they are about to experience its wrath. It sweeps in and sweeps away everything in its path. God alone decides when His judgment is unleashed upon the ungodly.

Seeing the increasingly public display of and sanction for all manner of moral indecency all around us is not unlike pre-tsunami exposure of detritus on the sea bed before the tsunami turns back towards the shore.

God has been, is, and always will be God of His-story! Repent while there is time. Preach the Gospel–all of it!

  5. This smacks to me of the communist ideal of outlawing Religion. I wonder if the “priest holes” are going to make a comeback?

Thanks for bringing this to light Bill, and thanks for those links, its always fantastic to have someone of your ability gather info for us to go to, I have no idea where you find this stuff.

    Neil Waldron.

  6. Thanks for collating that list of examples, Bill. I will make use of them in some letters on the issue I am intending on writing to our PM, the Opposition and my local state member. I might write Mr Bandt and Mr Brown while I’m at it, if only to see their response (if any).

  7. Yet another great article and timely advice – lets pray your warnings are heeded before its too late.
Would you mind if I add a few more things about how gay marriage has devastated life for regular people?

The Gay Straight alliances- are now mandatory in all public high schools in Canada. The GSA network say on their website these groups are, among other things, to be activists groups in combating ‘homophobia’ in schools, to think of ways to promote homosexuality in schools.
Catholic and religious schools are under enormous pressure to introduce the same clubs and many have caved in to the pressure.
Presently we have some schools in Australia with GSA clubs but they are currently optional, if SSM is legalized these will eventually become mandatory.
Second, homosexual pride marches and pride celebration week have been introduced in every province (there are currently 40 such parades around Canada).
Private businesses, schools, public companies are expected to engage in some level of support. Failure to do so renders the business, school etc as ‘homophobic’
As we, in Australia, have seen the definition of ‘homophobia’ change far from its dictionary meaning and we are now supposed to accept that any different opinion, belief, or criticism of any kind of homosexuals is ‘homophobic’, in Canada it is now considered ‘homophobic’ if you do not openly support gay events (whether through funding or participation).
Despite increasing funding for the Toronto Pride march, the Toronto mayor last year was the target of unbelievable vitriol and ‘homophobic’ accusations because he did not want to march in the event.
In October 2000 , the UTS here in Sydney was accused of ‘homophobia’ for not supplying funds for a float in the Mardi Gras – they eventually caved and have given funding every year since.
I wonder how many other businesses in Australia have had similar threats and support the Mardi Gras, because of fear and bullying rather than belief in their values?
Also, how about the school in Canada, which staged an explicit gay romantic play and students and parents who complained, were told their disgust was a reason why more of this stuff should be put out there- because they are obviously ‘homophobic’?
(I wonder if the school would every show an abortion to its students? would a disgusted reaction indicate a need to put it more out there ?)
There are literally hundreds if not thousands of reasons why SSM is a disasterous idea – why does the media absolutely refuse to let these stories into the public domain?
I would urge your readers to buy and promote your book and website as far and wide as possible. People need to see through the rhetoric from the ‘marriage equality’ mob and understand this will effect us all.

Thanks so much Bill for all you do in sounding the alarms, the word definitely needs to get out.

Finally, did you know that religious freedom is not a ‘right’ but is granted in Australia as long as it does not conflict with our laws? If the law changes for SSM , we will not necessarily have the protection of law to allow us to continue to publicly oppose homosexuality.
Knowing how weak our religious protections already are, I certainly don’t want to be the first to have this tested in court, do you? any volunteers?
Of course we may all get hauled into court if this madness is not halted.

    God Bless
    Annette Williams

  8. Annette, Christians are already being dragged to court, especially in Vic for trying to use free speech that does not divvy up with the PC rubbish. Fortunately this time it was overturned, but I think it was a shot across the bow to let us know we are about to be outlawed by the atheist/communist parties.

All we have to do is stick to our beliefs, speak the truth and never back down. God never told us we would never have obstacles or hardship, he told us he would strengthen us when we did suffer persecution.

As for volunteering, no thanks, but I will not be shrinking when it comes. Even our Lord and Saviour Jesus asked if it was God’s will to take away the cup. Big difference between standing up when it counts and going looking for a fight (so to speak). Just a thought.

  9. Those who think they will get an exemption and keep it have rocks in their heads.
Play with the devil and you will get burnt.

  10. I don’t like the term ‘same-sex marriage’ as it somewhat softens what it really is – sodomite marriage.
    John Harris

  11. “Because same-sex marriage is “legal”, a federal judge has ruled that the schools now have a duty to portray homosexual relationships as normal to children, despite what parents think or believe!”

Smoking is legal too, but governments go to extreme lengths to discourage it.

“Both are likely to include protections for churches that refuse on religious grounds to marry same-sex couples.”

I may be wrong, but I thought any marriage celebrant could decline to marry people they did not think ready for marriage, say for reasons of compatibility, maturity etc.

What a sick society that forces individuals to do something for no other reason than it is legal and someone else has a ‘right’ to it. Playing football is legal, therefore I have a ‘right’ to play for the Broncos next season, and they must not deny me entry to the team. I’ll let you all know how my case goes!!!

    David Williams

  12. Actually Bill, I read the article above about the same sex marriage fiasco in Massachusetts. I also got the shock of my life when I read about Mitt Romney’s contribution to this by threatening to fire JP’s who refused to marry same sex couples – and this man is running for the Presidency?

“In 2004, Governor Mitt Romney ordered Justices of the Peace to perform homosexual marriages when requested or be fired. At least one Justice of the Peace decided to resign.”

    Steve Davis

  13. On the 6PR show this morning I caught the remark of someone who said that most people don’t give a bugger who marries who and that he was of the view that most thought the same. The problem here amongst others is that they are demanding full church religious ceremonies and clergy committed by law to perform them. This is where we lose the equality and the overriding interference with anothers belief. They are trying to force the clergy under threat of losing their jobs or getting jail time to follow their corrupt beliefs. Isn’t that a clear case of not respecting anothers viewpoint? That’s akin to a paedophile telling a judge that he has to set him free because he has the right to indulge his sexual perversion and that he has the right to love (in a sexual way) any young child he chooses. And if the judge doesn’t recognise that then the judge can go to jail.
A priest has a right to his beliefs and his conviction that God is his lord. Just as much as a homosexual believes he has a right to his but they don’ like that do they? The bible tells us there will be blasphemies galore in the end time and trying to get God’s Servant to give legitimacy to same sex marriage is one of the biggest and that’s why they want it.
If they truly believed in God and his ways then they wouldn’t do it would they? They seriously need to start there own church and worship who knows what, but they radically need to be blessed for their corruption by a Christian in an effort to quench their own conscience.
Do you take this man to be your lawful wedded husband and do you also take this man to be your lawful wedded husband. To cleave only unto her…Oops him.
