Obama and Abortion

“No previous president has been so radically pro-abortion as Obama.” So who said that? Rush Limbaugh? James Dobson? Michele Bachmann? Billy Graham? Rick Santorum? Chuck Colson? Randall Terry? Nope. It was atheist civil libertarian Nat Hentoff.

He has just penned a piece explaining why he cannot vote for Barack Hussein Obama on November 6. He begins, “On the one hand, I cannot vote to re-elect President Barack Obama, who more than any other president in our history continuously exceeds the constitutional limitations of the executive branch. For example – one of many I’ve documented – Obama, without going to a judge, regularly selects those who are to be assassinated from a ‘kill list’; this includes American citizens suspected of being associated with terrorists.

“But I have other reasons for not possibly voting for him. One is that no previous president has been so radically pro-abortion as Obama, who, when he was in the Illinois Senate, voted three times against the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act. The bill would have ensured that if a live baby fully emerged before an abortion was successfully completed, he or she was to be saved.

“To let this legislation die would be an act of infanticide, but it did not pass while Obama was in the Illinois Senate. However, according to the Chicago Tribune, ‘In 2005, when additional language was added to a ‘born alive’ bill in Illinois that explicitly spelled out that it would not impact abortion rights in any way, the law passed easily’.”

Especially appalling is the number of black abortion victims: “Obama increasingly supports and encourages the abortion-created corpses of innocent black children. In my Human Life Review column I quoted LifeSiteNews.com, which reported that, in February 2009, the head of Canada’s Campaign Life Coalition told our new ‘president of change’ that ‘abortion is the No. 1 killer of African-Americans in the U.S.’ If Obama is re-elected, will that horrendous distinction persist?”

Others have documented the many cases of Obama’s pro-death stance. Rich Lowry says, “President Obama is an extremist on abortion. He has never supported any meaningful restriction on it, and never will. He opposed a partial-birth abortion bill in Illinois, even as the federal version passed the House and the Senate easily and was signed into law by President George W. Bush in 2003. He arrived in the U.S. Senate in time to denounce the Supreme Court’s ruling upholding the ban.

“In 2007, he told the Planned Parenthood Action Fund that his first act as president would be signing the Freedom of Choice Act. The act would enshrine in federal law a right to abortion more far-reaching than in Roe v. Wade. His support shows how it is impossible to stake out a position further to his left on the issue, unless, perhaps, you are performing abortions yourself.

“In May, a bipartisan majority of the House, including 20 Democrats, voted to ban abortion for the purpose of sex selection. A White House spokeswoman objected: ‘The government should not intrude in medical decisions or private family matters in this way.’ In other words, gender-based discrimination is OK – so long as it results in an abortion. As a general matter, Todd Akin’s position is closer to the American mainstream than Obama’s. The public doesn’t agree with Akin on the hardest cases, but most people oppose most abortions. In a Gallup survey in 2011, about 60 percent of people said that abortion should be legal in few or no circumstances.”

And Lila Rose, president of Live Action said “Pro-Lifers Must Expose Obama’s Abortion Record Now”. Quite so. Discussing the Democratic National Convention, she wrote: “The record is quite clear: President Obama is the most pro-abortion, anti-religion president in American history. Using our vast prolife network, from blogging to social media to earned media, I hope we can join our voices together to educate the public and the media about President Obama’s extremist obsession with abortion.

“Given the Democratic establishment’s casting of its convention as largely one about abortion and their anti-religious freedom, anti-First Amendment, HHS mandate, the pro-life community has a golden opportunity this coming week to promote life and freedom. The Democratic establishment’s abortion- palooza features speeches by a Who’s Who of Big Abortion – including representatives of abortion profiteers and advocates Planned Parenthood and NARAL.

“Additionally, the convention will feature politicians and Hollywood stars hostile to the prolife cause and religious freedom. Not to be featured: Prolife Democrats. Pro-life Democrats are being ostracized and if in attendance are to maybe be seen, but not heard. The message is clear, if you are a pro-life Democrat you are not welcome at this Democrat establishment abortion-palooza. Yes, the Party that spins diversity is telling pro-lifers that they have no business showing up in Charlotte.

“This presents a unique opportunity for the pro-life, religious freedom community to come forward and educate the public about how extreme and obsessed the President and the Democratic Party establishment are when it comes to abortion. They are so obsessed on funding abortion, the President and Democratic leaders in Washington are even willing to undercut the founding principle of religious freedom to fund abortion.”

She concludes: “Social justice is a winning issue with many youth and religious Americans, and what more fundamental right to protect than the right to life for the most vulnerable? Overwhelming majorities of Americans want basic restrictions on abortion and protections for pre-born children. They support a ban on the brutal practice of partial-birth abortion, a ban on sex-selective abortion that target baby girls, and a ban on abortion after the unborn child can feel pain. Americans also oppose taxpayer funding of abortion.

“The contemporary Democratic Party has positioned itself as extremists on abortion – anywhere, for any reason – paid for by taxpayers. President Obama is in the pocket of Big Abortion and his record shows he is the most pro-abortion president in American history. It’s time for us to do the job the media simply won’t do – tell the American people the truth about Obama’s anti-life record on this fundamental human right.”

Finally, if all that has not yet convinced you, consider this very, very lengthy list of just what Obama has done on abortion. Entitled “President Barack Obama’s Pro-Abortion Record: A Pro-Life Compilation,” it is massive, with at least 250 items. If the evidence found here does not prove to you just what a pro-death individual he is, then obviously you are a died-in-the-wool Obamaphile, and no facts or evidence will ever move you.

It begins this way: “The following is a compilation of bill signings, speeches, appointments and other actions that President Barack Obama has engaged in that have promoted abortion before and during his presidency. While Obama has promised to reduce abortions and some of his supporters believe that will happen, this long list proves his only agenda is promoting more abortions.”

This issue alone – the unprecedented slaughter of the innocents under this administration – should require that every single person who names the name of Jesus Christ should never again vote for BHO. Indeed, they never should have in the first place.

Yet how many countless deceived Christians will still vote for him? If they do, God will not hold them guiltless. They will have blood on their hands, and will one day give an account to the Father of Life for their blatant sins.

  1. Agree every point made here Bill. A Christian, or indeed any other person, need only be informed about the character and policies of BO on such things as abortion, and “gay marriage”, and these alone should be sufficient to make a proper judgment to reject him at the polls.

The few American political blogs I follow all seem to share the view that this is perhaps the most decisive election in American history – if only because four more years of Obama could destroy so much, including the Constitution, and freedom of religion already inhibited on a frightening scale.

Many have been voicing the view for months now – ‘anybody but Obama’. Notwithstanding his Mormonism I believe the Romney Ryan ticket is essential for America’s recovery at every level.

  2. This is the main reason why President Obama should be removed from office. It is a shame he has put such a mark on such a prestigious office. 🙁

  3. You’re quite right bill, Bill. From the very beginning, Obama’s endorsement of the utterly horrific butchering of newborn babies as they emerge from the womb, under the name of partial birth abortion, showed the world what his priorities were. There was no question of balanced debate – he was determined from the very first, once he became President, to have these helpless little human beings killed. And there is no evidence that his wife showed any disquiet with this barbaric act. On the contrary, it is very possible that she is the psychologically dominating character in this marriage,

By their fruits ye shall know them… And this is how we know Obama. So it is very hard then to view him as other than, in effect, answerable to being accused of evil policies. His is not just a case of misguided “liberalism”. This is a question of fundamental values and it was obvious from the start what his were. We have been well reminded that “a man can smile and smile… and be a villain yet”.

  4. I couldn’t help noticing the double standard voiced by these death advocates you quoted, Bill. They oppose the state’s interference into family choices? Yeh, really, what about the stat’es interference into education and other areas of “family choice?”
How stupid do they think people are?
    Many blessings
