This Is About One Thing Only: Rabid Christophobia

The despicable hypocrisy of the secular left is never-ending:

It is a truth that we hear all the time, but it must be repeated nonetheless: if it were not for double standards the left wouldn’t have any standards at all. Hypocrisy is the name of the game for the woke left, and they don’t even try to cover it up anymore.

There is nothing logical nor reasonable about the secular left. It is fixated on something and is unable to stop: the public enemy number one always has been and always will be Christianity, and theirs is an all-out war on it. They will stop at nothing until all true believers are fully silenced.

And not just that: they will stop at nothing until all true believers change their object of worship, from the one true living God to the diabolical agenda of the secular left. Only a complete and final change of allegiance will satisfy them.

The appalling treatment of Andrew Thorburn is simply the latest case of this. And if you have no idea who he is, then you really have been living on Mars lately. This is now my fifth article on him in almost as many days. All of the Australian media has been talking about him non-stop this week, as well as many overseas media outlets.

For daring to be a biblical Christian Thorburn has been hounded out of his job. For daring to be part of a church that actually believes the Bible, and what it teaches on things like the sanctity of life and gendered-marriage between a man and a woman, he is now on the unemployed scrapheap.

Sure, abortion and homosexuality are two of the main things no one is allowed to criticise anymore, but really, it is not even so much about that. The real issue for the activist left is Christianity. That is their number one hate. And the proof of this is easy enough to come by.

Other major world religions – most notably Judaism and Islam – happen to take the same view as Christianity on major moral and cultural issues such as homosexuality. Yet when folks in the public arena who belong to these other religions take similar stands to that of Thorburn, we simply have crickets chirping. The whole world does NOT explode when a Muslim sporting figure for example also states his or her concerns about something like homosexuality.

Let me offer here two crystal clear cases of this hypocrisy in action. The first concerns an AFLW player who will NOT take part in a homosexual pride round match. Check out this news report:

The AFLW’s first-ever Muslim player, Haneen Zreika, has pulled out of the league’s pride round due to religious beliefs – the second time she has done so. The 23-year-old Greater Western Sydney Giants player will not be playing in the club’s fixture against Hawthorn on October 16 in Sydney, where the side will be wearing specially-designed pride jumpers. The round celebrates and honours the LGBTQI+ community, which is heavily interlaced with the league given the amount of gay players.

It comes after Essendon CEO Andrew Thorburn was forced to step down from his role after just one day due to his links to a controversial church that condemns homosexuality and compared abortion to the Holocaust. Islam, the second largest religion in the world, is clear in its teachings that homosexuality is a sin, and Zreika said she felt she had a ‘responsibility to represent her faith’ during pride round.

For her, this means not wearing the rainbow jersey GWS designed for the round – and she revealed she felt like an ‘outsider’ when the AFL rejected her proposal to just wear the normal strip. ‘I didn’t want to make a big deal of it, until the AFL rejected me from wearing a normal jersey. That was a shock to me,’ the speedy midfielder said in the Disney+ AFLW documentary ‘Fearless’, which was released at the start of the season.

‘I love what the AFL do and the way they include everyone, but you can’t have a round where you include people but exclude someone that it impacts their faith. I really feel like an outsider, like, “no mate, you’re not part of us”,’ Zreika said. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/afl/article-11285113/Muslim-GWS-Giants-AFLW-star-Haneen-Zreika-sparks-controversy-pulling-pride-round.html

Hmm, so why are the AFL and Dan Andrews and all the media tarts not seeking to force HER out, publicly shame and humiliate her, and make a lesson out of her? Oh, that’s right: Islam good, Christianity evil. ‘Thou shalt not pick on Islam’. ‘Thou shalt always attack Christianity’. These are the two great commandments of the secular left.

But wait, it gets even worse. My second obvious example of these damnable double standards has to do with the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be held next month in Qatar. Now for those not in the know, Qatar is a hard-core Muslim-majority nation. And this is not just hearsay: I have actually been there and experienced this first-hand.

Consider this little bit of welcoming information that the government wants all visitors – especially those from the West – to be aware of. There are certain things you WILL not do while there – or else. That includes:

-no alcohol
-no homosexuality
-no immodesty
-no profanity
-no disrespecting of mosques
-no loud music
-no dating

Hmm, just about everything the West champions or enjoys is prohibited in Qatar. And even as a brief visitor, if you dare to engage in any of these things, be prepared to suffer the consequences – big time. Um, so does that mean the Australian media, the AFL, politicians like Dan Andrews and all the rest have loudly and clearly voiced their strongest disapproval of all this?

So does that mean they all are insisting that we must ban people from going there and we must condemn Qatar in the strongest of terms? As it turns out, the answer to both questions is a big NO. Of course they haven’t. Offending Islam is almost as big a taboo for Western lefties as attacking Christianity is a must.

As I say, it is their hatred of Christianity that really drives the secular left. Sure, they may pay lip service to some issues in Islam, but they will never treat a Muslim like they do a Christian. We all know if Thorburn was a Muslim and not a Christian he would still be in his cushy AFL job.

But some folks might try to argue that some nations are putting up some sort of protest about Qatar and its practices and beliefs. Yes, but… Consider one article discussing what France is doing. It says that Paris and other French cities are sort of taking a stand on this. As the BBC reports:

Paris has become the latest French city to announce that it will not be setting up giant screens and fan zones for the approaching World Cup in Qatar. It cited human rights and environmental concerns in the host nation….

Like other mayors – of both left and right – she blamed concerns over workers’ rights in Qatar; the alleged high number of deaths among foreign labourers; and the environmental impact of the stadiums, all equipped with outdoor air conditioning. In Marseille, there had been plans for a giant screening if France made it to the final, but that has now been cancelled. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-63132995

Now are foreign workers treated appalling in Qatar? Absolutely. But notice this: not one word about homosexuality! Um, does the BBC not know about how homosexuals are treated in places like Qatar? The death sentence is a main way Islamic regimes deal with homosexuals.

But oddly enough, not one word is spoken about this when these woke Western nations weakly talk about human rights violations in Qatar. Cowards. Hypocrites! While some Western leftists may not be thrilled with how homosexuals fare in Muslim-majority countries, you will almost never hear them saying a word about it.

All their venom is saved for Christians and Christianity. The Christian faith is always their main target, and they are quite happy to wink and nod at other religions and worldviews that may take similar sorts of stands on moral issues like the importance of heterosexual marriage.

So if a Christian stands up for certain basic beliefs, they are simply evil. If a Muslim or someone else says the same sorts of things and has the same sorts of concerns, they tend to get a free pass.

What was that word again? You know, the one that starts with h’ and ends with ‘ypocrisy’?

  1. Thank you Bill for exposing the hypocrisy of the Essendon club (which Andrew loved and supported so faithfully from a young age), and for demonstrating the hypocrisy of Victoria’s Govt reaction with the Premier interfering with a sports issue, that has nothing to do with his official political domain (unless he has added the portfolio of the Sports Dept).
I am praying for Andrew Thorburn to stay strong as he bears up to this round of persecution and know many are praying across Australia.
It is incredible that the female Muslim player was allowed to choose to make a stand and not wear a colored jersey for Hawthorn, as you pointed out so clearly, and the media did not rise up and condemn her.
You also pointed out that other nations like QATAR in many areas show a standard that is Godly when it comes to fighting immorality, drugs or what is seen as socially, lawless behavior. Yet Andrew Thorburn did not say a word about his own Biblical belief – instead someone quoted his church’s standards, which stood on Gods word against abortion and homosexuality but no doubt also showed there is a way to be forgiven and accept Jesus as Saviour.
The issues have all been so anti God, as you said and the true enemy Satan under the guise of Secularism or humanism, where mankind can choose their own belief (as long as its not Christian and Biblical) and can remain free to choose, but Christians now are a labelled as condemned people who must be punished and shunned.
The Great Re-Set was meant to change the world and it did so incredibly quickly. We need to catch up now and understand how we are perceived…We in the West were once free to choose whom we worship. but now we are being told we have no freedom to side with God or the Bible so we too need to do a quick re-set and renew our vision, and be ready for the trials ahead…It is hard for us to grapple with such injustice so quickly but we all need know to work out our responses in this time of trial and lightning change.
The warnings have been given for this new new era where Christians are condemned: ‘You will be hated by all men for my Name’s sake’ (Jesus before he was taken to the cross.)
‘Think it not strange at the fiery trials that beset you’ (James)
Isaiah 53, ‘He was a man of sorrows acquainted with grief, one from whom men hid their faces.’
Behind us nowadays, stands a crowd (and the media) crying, ‘Crucify Him’… ‘Give us Barabbas.’
But around us is gathered a great host of witnesses (Hebrews 11) who went on by faith.
May God uphold all who are facing this trial and give them the words to say as promised by the Holy Spirit, when they are asked to give an account for their beliefs. May Andrew Thorburn and other s after him be given incredible inner strength and blessing and may good come out of evil for him (Romans 8.28) as he faces this testing of his faith and beliefs. May many see this ruling was wrong and come to read the word and question their own beliefs due to Andrew’s unfair trial.

  2. The reason that these hypocrites do not attack Islam is because they think that they will have their throats cut but certainly not if they attack Christianity. Says it all – doesn’t it?
I cornered one of these hypocrites on a commune internet and she was adamant that Christians should be punished for vilifying homosexuality and when I asked if she felt the same way about Islam she clammed up and would not commit.

  3. Seeing our faith the focus of so much animus, even when other faiths are given a pass, gives me great confidence. Our Lord said this would happen. I don’t pray for smooth sailing anymore. I pray for the courage and the faith to trust God in the storms. I pray the same for you brothers and sisters. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

  4. It’s surprising that Essendon hasn’t appointed Dennis Pagan as coach. He may be a decent bloke but his name fits the club’s persona.

  5. Christianity is truth and the truth sets us free. That is why Satan attacks it. It is a war on God only, not false religions.

  6. And remember Saudi Arabian blood money in UK football. The photograph in the report below speaks volumes:

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/10/23/crystal-palace-fans-unfurl-banner-protest-premier-league-newcastles/

Note, in the UK, football is awash with “inclusive” rainbow symbols. It started with the display of rainbow bootlaces, pitch flags, corner flags, armbands, ball plinths, handshakes board and substitutes board in order to promote a more LGBT inclusive sport. Football social media channels get the rainbow treatment as well.

Football authorities claim the rainbow is not a political symbol but “a sign of our firm commitment to a more diverse and inclusive society. It is a symbol that embodies our core values, promoting everything that we believe in – a more just and egalitarian society, tolerant of everyone, regardless of their background, belief, gender or sexual orientation”.

Clearly not in harmony with Saudi Arabia or Qatar, to name but two Muslim states.

  7. But, but, but – Jesus Christ was born in Galilee, Galileans were black, Jesus Christ is black.

The left can never handle it when I say it like that.

Thanks again Bill, and God Bless.

  8. Bill – ‘hypocrisy’ is certainly the name of the game.

You have probably seen this urgent press release from the Presbyterian Church of Australia, but I’ll add it just in case you haven’t.

Especially important is the second paragraph which states discrimination has moved from expressing personal views to now including discrimination based on the church to which a person belongs.

    PRESS RELEASE – URGENT
    ESSENDON – THORBURN RESIGNATION

    STATEMENT FROM PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH LEADERS
    7th October, 2022

The Presbyterian Church of Australia is deeply concerned at recent events surrounding the resignation of Andrew Thorburn as chief executive of the AFL’s Essendon Football Club. We believe that this marks a watershed moment in Australian history – the day we have departed from some well-established common law principles, where there was freedom of conscience and religion, to being a society where only certain views are permitted in public life.

While Israel Folau was discriminated against for his own beliefs, we note that Mr Thorburn was forced to resign from his post merely because of the particular church he belongs to. There is apparently now a religious test for significant employment posts in Australia.

We note that the ethical position Mr Thorburn’s church—City on a Hill—takes on the subjects of abortion and sexuality, are the same as that of the mainline Roman Catholic, Anglican, Presbyterian, Jewish, and Muslim faiths.

Will the Essendon Football Club now no longer welcome people who have sincere religious convictions from being involved with the club, at either an administrative, coaching or playing level? GWS player Haneen Zreika has announced she will be opting out of the upcoming AFLW pride round. Will she be hounded out because of her faith?

Essendon Football Club says it supports “wholeheartedly the work of the AFL in continuing to stamp out any discrimination based on race, sex, ‘religion’, gender, sexual identity or orientation, or physical or mental disability”, whilst at the same time forcing Mr Thorburn to resign because of his religion. This looks rather like speaking out of both sides of one’s mouth.

We are in a dangerous place as a nation when a premier can seek to impose his own personal ideologies on everyone else. Such behaviour is itself “appalling, hateful, bigoted, unkind and exclusive”.

The Presbyterian Church of Australia will continue to uphold the Bible’s teaching, that marriage should only ever be between a man and a woman, and that the lives of unborn babies must always be protected. This is for both the flourishing of families and all of human life. There is nothing loving about killing unborn children and promoting an anti-life view of marriage.

We pray for our political leaders and remind them that they, like us all, will one day have to give account before Almighty God. We also urge our people to pray, stand firm for the faith, and not give into the opposition from those who reject our Lord Jesus Christ and His Word. Finally, we ask those whom God has placed in authority over us in this world, for the freedom to live out our faith, without intolerant bullying.

    Signed:

Peter Barnes, Moderator General, Presbyterian Church of Australia; Peter Phillips, Moderator, Presbyterian Church of Victoria; David Maher, Moderator, Presbyterian Church of New South Wales

  9. Essentially, I think the woke media is terrified of Christianity. They know it is true. The judgments of God are upon them, and they hate it. Rom 1. Forget other religions, none of them carries the truth to the human conscience as does the Spirit of Christ and the inspired Scripture faithfully preached.
The Bible pierces their hearts: They must destroy it like Herod faced by the Baptist raged against the truth.

  10. Don’t get me wrong I’m NOT advocating violence BUT Muslims tend to defend their faith. What do we do??? Smile daintily and roll over. If that doesn’t work we grovel and beg forgive. We should be defending our faith too. NOT in the violent Islamic way but for 40+ year we let the world intimidate us and change our faith without a whimper so no wonder they don’t fear us or even give us a second thought. WE ARE A JOKE TO THEM!!! Muslims however over 40+ years have made it QUITE CLEAR they aren’t a joke but are to be taken seriously NOT trifled with. If we simply used OUR power, spiritual and economic, then we too would be a force to be reckoned with NOT a punchline for late night tv shows.

It seems when Christianity has grown so large in a society she becomes docile and complacent she looses interest in the things that made her the dominant force in society. She leaves her first love and whores around with worldly suitors. “Decadence, immorality, chaos. Nothing changes.”

Another big problem with becoming the dominant force is hangers on or DEAD WOOD. People who aren’t truly Christian but are part of individual churches. These people help move the church further from God because the church becomes a social club more than a church. Sometimes when growing you have to prune off the dead wood to leave room for the live plant to grow. Same with forests you have to clear out the dead wood and combustible material for a healthy forest to grow. It is LONG PAST TIME the church pruned the DEAD WOOD and cleared it out. Biggest problem is that means less in the collection plate. Are pastors willing to accept that?? Willing to rely on God??? Willing to maybe meet in houses or school gymnasium?? How much hold does MAMMON have on today’s pastors??

  11. These issues were powerfully addressed by our pastor in Church this morning.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLG56DZXag8
It was a great message from the beginning, but the Essendon issue and proposed changes to the Western Australian Equal Opportunity Act are covered from about 15 minutes in.

  12. Many thanks Bill for all your writings they have taught me so much.
Thank you Peter for the link you shared.
This has given me hope that there are Pastors who do speak the truth to their congregation.

  13. I agree with Paul Wilson. Where are the church leaders leading their flock up and down the streets with banners demanding or rights and “this new woke inclusiveness.”
