Censorship and the MSM

If you want to know what is happening in the world, don’t rely on the mainstream media. At least, if you want to know about all the non-PC events, and the ones the secular left MSM refuses to cover, then you will need to look elsewhere.

This site has documented such censorship and one-sided news coverage for years now, and there is never a shortage of news items which we will not hear about if the MSM were our only source of information. Indeed, it is exactly because of all this rampant censorship that the alternative media arose in the first place.

Without it, we would often not even be aware of many events occurring around the world. Consider the major pro-life march just held in Washington DC on Jan 22, to commemorate the 39th anniversary of the infamous Roe v Wade abortion decision.

There were tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of pro-life marchers there, yet much of the MSM pretended it never even happened. Or if they did cover it, it was grossly under-reported with the usual diminution of numbers.

In fact, the way the MSM plays the number games is quite incredible. If a dozen homosexual activists hold some rally somewhere, the MSM will give them extensive coverage, and they will usually tell us that ‘hundreds’ showed up. Yet most media reports about the Washington march either did not even mention the numbers, or simply said ‘thousands’.

But there were clearly tens of thousands at least that marched. So they deflate the numbers of those causes they disagree with, while inflating the numbers of those causes they do. For example, for years the MSM spoke of ‘hundreds of thousands’ marching in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, when the actual numbers were just a fraction of this.

But back to Washington: for a great illustration of the bias and censorship, consider the New York Times, the bastion of secular left opinion. It refused to even cover the Washington march! Not only that, but this is the fifth time in a row that the NYT has not even mentioned it.

There is simply no excuse for this whatsoever, and all it tells us is that the NYT is not an objective newspaper, but simply an organ for the promotion of various radical causes – in this case the pro-death agenda. If 15 pro-aborts managed a noisy demo somewhere, they would probably be featured on the front page of the NYT, and all the other prejudiced MSM outlets.

Here is how one alternative media site reported on this news blackout: “For the fifth year in a row, there was no story in the Times print edition on the annual March for Life against abortion in Washington, D.C., which every year draws massive crowds in unpromising weather on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court’s decision legalizing abortion.”

The article mentions what the paper did cover on the day in the area: “Under the subhead ‘Happenings in Washington,’ the Times highlighted these profound Monday events:
• The Boston Bruins, the N.H.L. Stanley Cup champions, will be honored by President Obama at the White House.
• There will be a ceremony in State Department’s Treaty Room with Han Duk-soo, South Korea’s ambassador to the United States, to sign a bilateral Environmental Cooperation Agreement.
Nothing about thousands of people marching down Constitution Avenue against abortion.”

So very typical. There are plenty of other examples of this deliberate censorship by the MSM. Simply by choosing what stories it will cover and what stories it will ignore, the MSM has a huge influence on what ordinary people come to know. Consider two recent stories about yet more homosexual assaults on freedom of religion and freedom of speech.

If you have not heard of these stories in the MSM, that is not at all surprising, and it of course makes my point. Both have to do with rather ugly cases of anti-Christian bigotry, and more bullying and thuggery from the militant homosexual lobby and their supporters amongst the activist judiciary.

The first has to do with a Christian retreat house which has been told it must bow to the homosexual agenda on its own premises. Here is how an alternative media outlet covered this story: “A New Jersey judge ruled against a Christian retreat house that refused to allow a same-sex civil union ceremony to be conducted on its premises, ruling the Constitution allows ‘some intrusion into religious freedom to balance other important societal goals.’

“On Thursday, administrative judge Solomon A. Metzger ruled that religious liberty did not exempt the seaside retreat, which is associated with the United Methodist Church, from renting its facilities out for purposes that violate its moral beliefs.”

That is some intrusion into religious freedom all right. It is happening all the time, and it will only get worse. That is part of the reason why we must all strenuously resist the militant homosexual agenda in general, and the push for same-sex marriage in particular.

Their militant campaigns will negatively impact on every single one of us, and the very freedoms we so much now value and take for granted are slowly but inexorably being whittled away. If we do not all stand up and be counted now, we soon may not be allowed any room to make objections to this new tyranny sweeping over the West.

Consider also another quite recent episode of homosexual bullying and intimidation. School kids who dare to express their opinions and religious convictions are increasingly being shouted down by our institutions of secular humanist indoctrination, otherwise known as schools.

Check out this worrying story: “A 15-year-old Wisconsin boy who wrote an op-ed opposing gay adoptions was censored, threatened with suspension and called ignorant by the superintendent of the Shawano School District, according to an attorney representing the child.

“Mathew Staver, the founder of the Liberty Counsel, sent a letter to Superintendent Todd Carlson demanding an apology for ‘Its unconstitutional and irrational censorship and humiliation’ of Brandon Wegner. Wegner, a student at Shawano High School, was asked to write an op-ed for the school newspaper about whether gays should be allowed to adopt. Wegner, who is a Christian, wrote in opposition. Another student wrote in favor of allowing gays to adopt.”

Yet more Christophobia and homosexual jackboot activity. This is occurring every day around the Western world, and will only get worse, unless a few brave souls start getting vocal and defend our freedoms while they last. Where are the Christian warriors who will stand up and fight all this brave new world tyranny by the homosexual zealots?

Where are the Christian leaders who are even discussing these matters? I see that the very brave Margaret Court is once again sticking her neck out to defend religious liberty and to defend biblical values. And she is doing it not just from the safety of her pulpit, but in Australia’s widest read newspaper.

I refer to her opinion piece in today’s Herald Sun. She begins her piece this way: “We live in a blessed nation but Australia is on a steep moral decline. Everywhere you look we are making excuses for a sliding lifestyle and more people are blind to it than ever before.

“Our Constitution is based on biblical principles and our nation is great because of it. We are a country with a moral fabric and families and marriage are at its core. But increasingly our kids are being taught that anything goes.

“As a society we are losing touch with fundamental Christian values, as our leaders lean towards an agenda of political correctness to keep the minorities happy. We live in a world of moral values. Even those without faith know what is right and what is wrong. We all have a conscience and so many people get trapped in the pattern of saying something is right when deep down they know it isn’t.

“It’s that attitude that can harden hearts. People suddenly justify the immoralities around them. We have taken the easy way out. Minorities are now making it harder for the majority. They are increasingly taking everything that is good in society and pushing it to the side.”

She goes on to speak biblical truth about marriage and homosexuality. And she makes no bones about publically and proudly confessing her Christian faith: “I had fame and success and a great husband but I always knew something was missing in my life. I used to think there had to be more to it.

“I knew He was there but I didn’t know how to make the connection. I didn’t understand how God could be real in my life. But then I accepted Jesus Christ, and believed that He came to Earth as the son of God, to die for our sins. Even then I didn’t understand the power of the Bible, his word. If I knew then what I knew now I could have won six Wimbledons, not three.”

Here is one Christian who has not allowed the gaystapo and the forces of political correctness to silence her. The truth is, she has more Holy Ghost boldness in her little finger than most Christian leaders have in total. Why is she one of the few to be willing to speak out and take all the abuse and hatred for it? Where are all the other Christian leaders when we need them?

Perhaps they are simply porking out on a steady diet of MSM mush, and have therefore sold out their biblical worldview for the latest bowl of PC pap. They certainly seem to have a worldview more informed by the opinion pages of the NYT than the Word of God.

  1. While goodly people are occupied doing their duty, some very bad women and men have sought centres of power in order to remake things according to their hatreds. It’s people like Mr Muehlenberg and Mrs Court who give those who know something is dreadfully wrong centres of goodness around which to rally.

I’m sorry to say that, thinking with Mr Muehlenberg, the ‘fourth estate’ is now a glorified church magazine and much worse for that given they’re unaware they’re confessional. Such stupefying ignorance typifies those who hold the levers of power in Australia, but all of them are deceived – they’ll be starved of the power they think is the realest of things.

  2. I’ve seen it myself Bill. Get 200-300 Christians on the steps of Parliament House Adelaide, and the media will largely ignore it, but a few rowdy pro-gays or pro-abortionists will get on the TV news.

  3. Margaret Court has shown that she has got some real guts. I’m very impressed.

  4. Thanks guys.

It is now almost impossible to get a stand-alone article challenging the homosexual agenda in the MSM. On the same opinion pages that Maragaret Court has her article there is an article by a pro-homosexual attacking her. But on any day of the week a pro-homosexual article will appear in the press without having a con piece attached to it. This is the gross and blatant double standard of the MSM, utterly dominated as it is by the homosexual lobby.

  5. As someone involved in publishing I think there a few reasons MSM is going this way.

Part of the reason that pro-gay lobbying and demonstrations are promoted while pro-traditional marriage ones are not is that change and ‘social progress’ are deemed to be more interesting. Morally, I think, newspapers don’t care who wins, so they would rather promote every minority and “progressive” than support incumbent views because they sell more newspapers. If they can embolden and encourage those minorities, then they work harder at their agenda, there’s more “progressive” news for the newspapers to report, and the “positive cycle” continues for them.

I guess a Christian or pro traditional family march needs to catch the bluff of the newspapers to really be noticed and be deemed news worthy.

Also, the reason the MSM prints both sides when there is a pro-traditional stance is because they know how litigious and legally strengthened the minority view has become. Just like effigies of Jesus in urine etc. don’t cause a big backlash from Christians worldwide, so on the flip side, anything against gay marriage is hot water for MSM. I’m not saying it’s right, but that’s the direction society is moving legally and culturally, and MSM just stays a few steps ahead to keep selling their “morally neutral” product.

Actually a number of international studies have shown that there really is a secular left bias to the MSM, so in that sense they really do care who wins. They are promoting secular left agendas, and that shows up quite clearly time and time again.

Yes you are right that the media thrives on controversy, but that is not the end of it. To have 200 or 300 thousand pro-life marchers in Washington is certainly ‘controversial’ and newsworthy, but many in the MSM chose not to even cover it. This is further proof that the media thrives not so much on mere controversy, but on the promotion of its own secular left worldview.

But I document this more fully elsewhere, eg:

    Thanks for your thoughts.

  7. According to a report I read & saw (there were several great photos ), there were some 250,000 people at the March For Life in Washington. These are the sorts of numbers they get every year lately. There was a HUGE attendance, as was attested to by the photos.
The Sydney vulgarity-show is nothing compared to the MFL as far as numbers go.

  8. Yes, I agree, there is a secular left agenda, which principally springs from the leftist agenda of most university faculties (unless they are headed by Christians). I have seen this documented in other places.

For example, in The Humanist, John Dunphy wrote,“I am convinced that the battle for humankind’s future must be waged and won in the [school] classroom by teachers who correctly perceive their role as the proselytizers of a new faith: a religion of humanity that recognizes and respects the spark of what theologians call divinity in every human being. These teachers must embody the same selfless dedication as the most rabid fundamentalist preachers, for they will be ministers of another sort, utilizing a classroom instead of a pulpit to convey humanist values in whatever subject they teach, regardless of the educational level—preschool day care or large state university. The classroom must and will become an arena of conflict between the old and the new—the rotting corpse of Christianity, together with all its adjacent evils and misery, and the new faith of humanism …

It will undoubtedly be a long, arduous, painful struggle replete with much sorrow and many tears, but humanism will emerge triumphant. It must if the family of humankind is to survive.”

You are of course on my troll list, since you come here only to push your agenda, not to deal with reason or evidence. So normally your comments go straight into the bin. But since you once again so very nicely illustrate how impoverished your side is when it comes to debate, I have allowed your latest howler through.

It is quite apparent that amongst your side’s many failings, your evident inability to read is a key deficiency. The article I cited made it perfectly clear: “For the fifth year in a row, there was no story in the Times print edition on the annual March for Life”. Indeed, the article I linked to, which you obviously have not even bothered to look at, does mention the very limited and tangential Net coverage of the march there was by the NYT.

Sorry, but no points scored for your side here I am afraid. Another fail – please go to the back of the class.

  10. This is an incredibly serious issue. By conquering the heights of the mass media and academia the totalitarian new communists are expanding their appetite for political power. And everyone, including themselves eventually, will suffer for it.

The sentiments expressed by your contributors need to be converted into action if the situation is to be reversed. And that means getting properly organised.

  11. Where ARE the Christian leaders?-?

I was surprised, yet thankful for my letter printed in the Canberra Times (17/01/2012): “Thank God for the strength and courage of Margaret Court to stand up for marriage as one man with one wife. Children do need their own mother and father. Nothing can replace the male – female union in a heterosexual relationship.”

  12. I love the ‘fire in your bones’, Bill – it may not seem it or feel like it – but the current battle (as it gets worse) is each day a step closer to winning the war. According to our Word, the people driving this tripe will be nothing but dust, eventually. Yet, we still need to stand.

I always relish the cruel hatred of evil-doers, who almost fling hot larva or steaming acid on anything that disagrees with them. I relish it because – the temper tanties indicate that we are making a difference. We obviously make their stomachs churn and they are thinking about God’s objections and our disgust.

If my cute little white Maltese doggie could speak up and say/talk – what we as believers stand for, the enemy would pour fuel on the poor animal and set it alight….really, it’s all pure evil.

    I enjoy your articles. Blessings.

  13. It’s sad to say but we are seeing the homosexual agenda making further headway into the rural communities of my home province of Newfoundland. I pray that as an Evangelical Christian I stay on my knees and engage in battling of the dark spiritual principalities and powers of Hell that seek the destruction of our families, our children and our society.

Keep up the great work Bill. We are being watched.

  14. Hi Bill

Thanks for another great article about media censorship.

What I find most disturbing regarding the boy from Wisconsin was that he was asked to do a piece about whether gays should adopt. They’ve basically said, ‘here, write about this issue, but you’re only allowed to express our opinion (which apparently seems to be the leftist humanist opinion) on the subject’. So on the outside, they look like they are upholding objectivity but in reality all opposing views are being censored. This gives the impression that the majority shares their views as that view is the only one people can experience through the media (and schools in this instance) because all other views are thrown in the bin.

    Luke Belik

  15. Yes Luke, the question should have been, Write a story about the pro’s of gay adoption.
Darryl you mention social progress, We all want progress. But if were travelling on the wrong path, it’s the person who turns back earliest, onto the right path, this person is the most progressive.
    Daniel Kempton

  16. When I was studying to be a teacher, I took on the editorship of the University’s student newspaper, which was funded by student fees. Single-handedly I wrote stories, took the photos, typeset and had the paper printed, and distributed it. I was visciously attacked, and had a relentless campaign run against me, and all for the simple reason that I allowed Christians to have a say in the paper. Every page had a “balanced” perspective, with everyone given a chance to write what they thought (though I did edit out expletives and vulgar language). Despite the campaign against me, every month I single-handedly had the paper out on time, whilst getting A’s for my assignments, leading my little family, attending a church that required regular attendance at mid-week meetings, and reaching out to overseas students.

Eventually I could no longer carry the paper on my own, so I resigned. Immediately the editorship was taken up by 14 radical leftists. No longer did a Christian perspective appear in the paper, and no longer did the paper ever come out on time. I stopped reading the filth, and so did the Christians on campus. We started our own paper called, “Christains on Campus” funded by our own resources. Readership was small. It didn’t last all that long.

And that was my experience with the media.

  17. It took radio broadcaster Alan Jones to breach the MSM’s non recognition of the 4,000 strong Coptic rally in Sydney’s heartland, Martin Place at 12 noon in January 2010. When it was brought to his notice that not a peep was heard or seen from MSM, he acted swiftly and gave a hefty segment of his program to a Coptic bishop and spokepeople of the Australian Coptic Movement. They had heavy laden hearts for their people who suffered atrocities on the Coptic Christmas eve in Egypt, where Copts were murdered attending their Church. Alan Jones allowed them to break their story to the disengaged public. The media acts as the new moralists, however look at the shambolic world they are part and parcel of producing. Thanks Bill.
