Church Leaders and the Great Reset

Not all Catholics are happy about where the Pope is heading on things like the Great Reset:

Yesterday I wrote about the Vatican and its involvement in “Inclusive Capitalism” and the Great Reset. In that piece I mentioned how not all Catholics are happy with the directions Pope Francis is going on so many issues, including economic and political ones. You can see that article here: https://billmuehlenberg.com/2020/12/15/the-great-reset-the-vatican-and-inclusive-capitalism/

I made clear in that piece that this was not just some Protestant attack on Catholicism. Indeed, I included some Catholic critics of the Pope and his views in my article. I also closed my article with several more such links. Here I want to offer some quotes from those pieces and a few others.

And I should point out that while Catholics will often accuse Protestants of being all over the place and hopelessly divided into countless denominations, the truth is, things are often little different within the Roman Catholic Church. There are plenty of divisions to be found there, ranging from doctrinal matters to ethical issues and public policy matters.

One simply has to ask how many Catholics actually believe, accept, and fully follow the teachings of the 1968 encyclical, Humanae Vitae (Latin for Of Human Life), which dealt with artificial contraception and related matters. The answer is, most do not. Again, I am not attacking Catholics. I am simply pointing out that there are plenty of splits and differences to be found in their own church on so many matters.

And as noted, one area involves how the faith should be understood in terms of its political and economic dimensions. The Pope is heading one way on these matters, while many other leading Catholics are arguing against that path. The issue of the Great Reset and “Inclusive Capitalism” is one such area of strong disagreement.

So let me offer some words – not by Protestants, but by Catholics – on how some Catholics feel about these sorts of issues. One recent article begins this way:

Cardinal Raymond Burke has warned of the danger of “certain forces” who are using the cover of COVID-19 to promote “fear,” attack freedom and the family, and so advance the “Great Reset.” “Our nation is going through a crisis which threatens its very future as free and democratic. The worldwide spread of Marxist materialism, which has already brought destruction and death to the lives of so many, and which has threatened the foundations of our nation for decades, now seems to seize the governing power over our nation,” he said.

The former Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura delivered a forthright homily, in which he outlined the widespread influence of communism, and the manner in which freedom is under attack through the measures related to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Speaking on the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, December 12, at the Shrine church of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, Burke noted how America has become reliant upon communism and the communist state of China. “To attain economic gains, we as a nation have permitted ourselves to become dependent upon the Chinese Communist Party, an ideology totally opposed to the Christian foundations upon which families and our nation, remain safe and prosper,” the cardinal warned….

“Then there is the mysterious Wuhan virus about whose nature and prevention the mass media daily give us conflicting information. What is clear, however, is that it has been used by certain forces, inimical to families and to the freedom of nations, to advance their evil agenda. These forces tell us that we are now the subjects of the so-called ‘Great Reset,’ the ‘new normal,’ which is dictated to us by their manipulation of citizens and nations through ignorance and fear.” https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/breaking-cdl-burke-covid-is-being-for-great-reset-to-attack-freedom-and-families

In another Catholic critique of this we read:

In this new text, Archbishop Viganò once again analyzes the “Great Reset” — the central theme of his Oct. 25, 2020 Open Letter to President Trump — and observes:

The French Revolution wiped out the Western aristocracy. The Industrial Revolution obliterated the peasants and spread the proletarianization which led to the disaster of Socialism and Communism. The Revolution of ’68 demolished the family and the school.

This Great Reset, desired by the globalist elite, represents the final revolution with which to create a shapeless and anonymous mass of slaves connected to the internet, confined to the house, threatened by an endless series of pandemics designed by those who already have the miraculous vaccine ready.

As he did in his letter to the President, His Excellency discusses connections between the “Great Reset” and COVID-19, which he says “plays a fundamental role,” stating that

a world plan appears in its disconcerting reality. The architects of the plan, creating an unjustified social alarm about an alleged pandemic — that today we see is no more serious than a normal flu, as confirmed by official data from all over the world — has been used to create a tremendous global social and economic crisis and so to legitimize the drastic reduction of the basic rights of the population. catholicfamilynews.com/blog/2020/12/03/a-meditation-on-the-great-reset-and-the-liberty-of-christians/

And this recent article, also by concerned Catholics, warns about where the Pope is moving:

A premier globalist organization is praising Pope Francis for “put[ting] his stamp on efforts to shape what’s been termed a Great Reset of the global economy in response to the devastation of COVID-19.”

The World Economic Forum (WEF), which claims to be masterminding the “Great Reset,” calls Francis an “agenda contributor” to the project in which “global stakeholders” will determine “the future state of global relations, the direction of national economies, the priorities of societies, the nature of business models and the management of a global commons.”

The piece continues:

Speaking to Church Militant, Catholic academic John Zmirak warned: “I have read fewer things more sinister than the WEF’s latest production. While you and I might laugh at Pope Francis’ clunky prose and sophomoric moralism, we see in the WEF’s propaganda the dangerous uses to which Francis’ ideas can be put.” Dr. Zmirak, editor at The Stream, noted that the pontiff is “an enemy of human freedom, and those who crave the chance to concretely strip us of our basic rights as Western men and Christians will not put a pope like this to waste.”

“Just as the Nazis mined Medieval anti-Judaism to undergird their racism, the globalists who tomorrow will be seizing our kids if we won’t vaccinate them will be quoting a pope to us as they do it,” remarked Zmirak, author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Catholicism….

British academic and commentator Niall McCrae told Church Militant that in endorsing WEF goals, Pope Francis was espousing “a new totalitarian system.” “In the ideals of the WEF, supposedly in pursuit of the common good, too much freedom is bad and control is good,” explained Dr. McCrae, co-author of Moralitis: A Cultural Virus.

“The Great Reset may be appealing at first glance, but it is basically a program of surveillance and eugenics designed by technocratic atheists. Francis has recently given tacit support for contraception and promoted vaccination, which are both massive markets for Big Pharma — and which open the door to more radical forms of birth control,” McCrae warned.

McCrae adds:

Francis seems to want God to work for the Great Reset. The egalitarianism of this grand vision is a mirage, true only in that the masses will be equally poor and powerless, presided over by an oracle of the global elite (of which Francis has registered his membership). As Christians we must hope that Francis sees through the propaganda and realizes that the Great Reset is ultimately dehumanizing for all but the 1%. www.churchmilitant.com/news/article/globalists-cheer-popes-role-in-great-reset

As mentioned, since such a big part of the Great Reset entails fully exploiting fears and panic over the big two Cs of late – climate change and corona – let me finish by noting that many Catholics are also quite concerned about how the Pope seems to have fully jumped on board both bandwagons.

As to climate change, consider this:

“The moment has come for a change of direction,” Pope Francis urged the world in a video to the U.N. virtual Climate Ambition summit on Saturday, before begging viewers not to “rob the new generations of their hope in a better future.” The summit, attended by numerous state leaders, was held to mark five years since the creation of the Paris Climate Agreement.

In his address, Francis promised that the “Vatican City State is committed to reducing net emissions to zero by 2050,” to be achieved by “intensifying the efforts at environmental management that have already been in process for some years.” https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/pope-francis-pledges-zero-co2-by-2050-at-pro-abortion-un-climate-conference

But not all Catholics are happy with this. As one article states after introducing the topic:

The grim reality is, however, that the Paris agreement will in fact lead to an intensification of the assault on the most vulnerable of all populations: unborn children. The meaning given to “gender equality” and “empowerment of women” above is not unique to the Sustainable Development Goals; it is well-established in UN documents. This can be demonstrated by examining a report published earlier this year by the United Nation’s Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), entitled General recommendation on women’s access to justice (23 July 2015).

It concludes:

The language used in the Paris climate agreement is consistently used to promote abortion and contraception under the guise of “sexual and reproductive health”. For more than three decades the Holy See has opposed the inclusion of such terms in international agreements precisely because of the recognition that they are used to pursue an agenda which is destructive of human life and the family. The Holy See mission at the UN has raised concerns about the use of such terms as recently as September 2015.

However, over the course of the present pontificate Voice of the Family has had the distressing task of documenting the steady reversal of the Holy See’s former vigilance on this issue and the increasing incidence of the Vatican and international anti-life and anti-family forces working together, despite the Holy Father’s public condemnations of abortion.

The Paris agreement, especially taken together with the Sustainable Development Goals, gives further strength to calls for renewed efforts to ensure “universal access” to abortion and contraception. https://www.lifesitenews.com/opinion/why-the-catholic-church-should-be-opposing-the-paris-climate-agreement

And as to the corona virus, there is concern that the Vatican is rushing to promote vaccines, some of which are said to be ethically tainted:

Vatican employees and residents are to receive the new Pfizer vaccine, which has been tested on cell lines from an aborted baby, in measures taken to supposedly prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The head of the Vatican health service, Dr. Andrea Arcangeli, announced the news on December 11 when speaking to Vatican News. “Only through a widespread and capillary immunization of the population will it be possible to obtain real advantages in terms of public health to achieve control of the pandemic,” Arcangeli stated, saying that it was “very important” that a “vaccination campaign” was started as soon as possible….

Whilst Pfizer did not make use of cell lines from aborted babies in the development of the vaccine, “[o]ne of the confirmatory lab tests on the vaccine did sadly involve an old foetal cell-line.” The Children of God for Life organization notes that the Pfizer vaccine is tested using the HEK 293 cell line, which is derived from kidney tissue taken from a baby who was aborted in the Netherlands in the 1970s.

In a statement issued on Friday, Cardinal Janis Pujats, Archbishops Tomash Peta and Jan Pawel Lenga, along with Bishops Joseph Strickland and Athanasius Schneider, wrote that any vaccine associated with abortion, “cannot be acceptable for Catholics.” The prelates pointed to the contradiction between Catholic doctrine, which teaches that abortion is “a grave moral evil that cries out to heaven for vengeance,” and the commonly found view that abortion connected vaccines are permitted in “exceptional cases of ‘urgent need’.”

“To argue that such vaccines can be morally licit if there is no alternative is in itself contradictory and cannot be acceptable for Catholics,” the letter read.

“The ends cannot justify the means,” the signatories stated, and “[a]ny link to the abortion process, even the most remote and implicit, will cast a shadow over the Church’s duty to bear unwavering witness to the truth that abortion must be utterly rejected.” https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/vatican-to-give-employees-residents-abortion-tainted-pfizer-covid-vaccine

My point in all this is not to attack non-Protestants, nor to seek to stir up trouble. My point in this piece and the previous one should be quite clear: All people of faith – be they Catholic or Protestant or Orthodox – should be greatly alarmed about things like the Great Reset, the WEF, “inclusive capitalism,” globalist agendas, out-of-control Statism, and the loss of our basic freedoms.

And they should be concerned about heads of churches who seem happy to run with all this.

  1. Thanks Bill for another informative article. I also have some lovely God-fearing Catholic friends who are not too impressed with Pope Francis etc. I still feel Pope Francis is being advised by the wrong lefty people (as opposed to) I know President Trump listens to righteous evangelical clergy and when you mentioned the two C’s of ‘climate change and corona’ I couldn’t help put a P for Pope which equals CCP who I think maybe pulling all the strings with the devil behind it all of course.

  2. Dear Bill, great piece and I am sure the censors must be trying exceedingly hard to find “something “ they can give you a strike for.
If we look at how lax the Food safety authorities have become, particularly in regard to GMO’s and organic production and other anonymous ingredients in our food. Or the speed at which a waxine can be delivered, how can one seriously trust the Big-pharma claim ‘ no recently acquired foetal tissue in “our” waxine.’
Not to mention the US Army General who has said the waxine roll-out is D-day, because the Rma waxine, irrevocably alters your DNA.
Off topic I guess but The Pope surely is in favour of all of this.
Once again God save us all

  3. Dear Bill,
Thank you for staying on top of these issues and bringing them to our attention. Greatly appreciated.
And, because the pope is the ‘shepherd’ of such a large flock, I believe it only responsible for anyone to point out a problematic direction being implemented. I am sure these same warnings would have been directed towards Billy Graham, etc. if they were offering such guidance.
    Respectfully, Ron Adams

  4. There’s an interesting (to me anyway) channel on You Tube called “Church Militant”. Very much right wing and anti- Pope et al. yet strongly Catholic. This is not an endorsement from me of Catholicism by any stretch of the imagination . I just find it interesting that all Catholics are not in the same boat and many hold the same views of worldly matters as do solid Evangelical Christ Followers.

  5. There used to be an old joke when someone asked you a question where the answer was yes you would say “is the Pope Catholic??” now I’m not so sure the answer is yes.
