I Wish We Loved Our Children This Much
You may have seen on the news the past few days the ongoing saga about some trapped killer whales in Canada. The ice around them was closing in, and a dozen whales were trying to get some breathing space. All the mainstream media was agog with the story, and you could almost see tears in the face of some of the news announcers.
It was one of the more emotional news items going for a few days. And the champagne was likely flowing when the story finally ended with the whales freeing themselves. One news report covers the story as follows: “About 12 killer whales trapped under sea ice in Canada’s Hudson Bay appear to be free after the ice shifted.
“However, people who fear the whales will get stuck elsewhere have hired a plane to find them. The whales’ predicament in the frigid waters of Hudson Bay made international headlines. Locals had been planning a rescue operation with chainsaws and drills before the mammals slipped away on Thursday.
“Tommy Palliser said two hunters from remote Inukjuak village reported that the waters had opened up around the area where the cornered whales had been bobbing frantically for air around a single, truck-sized hole in the ice. Officials said shifting winds might have pushed the ice away. ‘It’s certainly good news – that’s good news for the whales,’ said Palliser, a business adviser with the regional government.
“But fears remain that the whales may be trapped elsewhere by the ever-moving ice. Some villagers were sceptical the killer whales had escaped harm, so the community hired a plane to scan the region on Thursday for signs of the pod. Mark O’Connor of the regional marine wildlife board said the aerial search did not locate the orcas but he noted that large swathes of ice-free water were seen in the area. ‘So as far as I could tell, the emergency, for sure, is averted,’ said O’Connor, the board’s director of wildlife management.”
Another news item added these remarks: “Over the last few days, 80 people at a time had gone out on the ice to watch the whales. ‘We were all trying to find out how we can save them,’ he said. ‘We observed the wind, the moon, everything.’ The whales’ escape was cause for celebration elsewhere in Canada, where there had been a desperate campaign to push the government to send in ice-breaking ships to crack open the ice and help the animals find open water.”
Wow, that is a lot of time, attention and money being spent on a bunch of killer whales. Of course I, like everyone else, never like to see animals suffer, and if reasonable measures can be taken to help some animals, then that may not be uncalled for.
But to have a worldwide panic over this “emergency” with plans to get governments sending in ships and planes, just to help out a few killer whales seems a bit much, especially if we highlight another inconvenient truth. Every day in Canada something like 300 trapped creatures are mercilessly killed.
This too is an extreme emergency, yet I see no global media campaigns erupting over this, and I do not notice any local community worrying itself to death about this fact. Indeed, there is complete silence about these poor trapped creatures who will die if no one intervenes.
I of course refer to the unborn who are slaughtered each year in Canada. Abortion accounts for around 100,000 dead babies each year there. Yet where is the outcry about all this? Why not the same moral outrage and concern about even more worthy life worth living?
Why the double standards all over the West? Why mega-concerns about a bunch of whales, and zero concern about the mass slaughter of our own children? That makes no sense to me whatsoever. That is an indication of a culture which has lost its way big time.
Indeed, just contrast our whale story with another story which broke in Canada not so long ago. To me this is far more horrific, but I never heard a peep about it from the MSM. The story goes like this: “Figures from Statistics Canada, a federal government agency, show 491 babies were born alive following botched abortions during the period from 2000-2009 and left to die afterwards. The numbers have pro-life advocates up in arms.
“Andre Schutten, legal counsel for ARPA Canada, noticed the numbers and blogged about them recently. The blog Run with Life has reported that, from 2000 to 2009, 491 babies have been born alive following a failed abortion procedure, and subsequently left to die. And those are only the ones that are recorded by Statistics Canada.
“The blog explains that ‘there were 491 abortions, of 20 weeks gestation and greater, that resulted in live births. This means that the aborted child died after it was born. These abortions are coded as P96.4 or “Termination of pregnancy, affecting fetus and newborn”.’
“The question that should immediately present itself is, why has there not been 491 homicide investigations or prosecutions in connection with these deaths? Section 223(2) of the Criminal Code (the accompanying subsection to the now infamous subsection that Mr. Woodworth’s motion 312 was examining) reads ‘A person commits homicide when he causes injury to a child before or during its birth as a result of which the child dies after becoming a human being.’
“That is to say, anyone who interferes with a pregnancy such that the child dies after it is born alive due to that interference, is guilty of homicide. So again, why have there been no criminal prosecutions? Why no outcry? And why are the provinces funding this explicitly criminal activity?”
Good questions indeed. And here are a few more: Why did I not see this reported on ABC news? Or Ch 9 news? Or in the Australian newspaper? Or on SBS radio? Or in the Sydney Morning Herald? Every single one of these media outlets would likely have covered the whale story, and more than once.
Yet on something far more important all we get is complete silence from these guys – a total media blackout. Not only does that tell us much about the warped values and priorities of the MSM, it also tells us that the MSM does not report the news, it determines the news and censors that which it does not want aired in public.
It is about censorship, propaganda and ideology, in other words. It only covers that which fits into its secular left agenda. That means whales will hit the front pages any day of the week, but butchered babies will not even rate a mention.
Thus if you want to know why a website like mine exists, here is your answer. As long as the MSM censors the news, I will be around to present it. And especially when it considers baby killing to be un-newsworthy and a non-issue, then I will run with it far and wide, day in and day out.

If this makes me weep, then how much more must God weep for these babies. It never fails to amaze me that people talk about the holocaust and state “This must never happen again”, and yet every day in the western world, we are killing our helpless children and no one cares – or those of us who do care are called names and every effort is made to keep us quiet. I hold on to the knowledge that evil does not and will not prevail in the end.
Yes quite right Joan

Absolutely right, Bill,
It is one thing for people to maybe be deceived into thinking that at certain points in pregnancy a baby is no more than a lump of tissue, it they are not presented with the hard facts of ultrasound pictures etc, but it is an entirely other story how those who deliver those live babies then can leave them to die. I am sure there would probably be people who want want to take them home and nurture them, seeing that nobody else wants them, but they are not even allowed to do that. How that doesn’t wrench their heart out shows how frightened and or hard-hearted we have become.
Yes I am with you Ursula

Thanks Bill. What a terrible state of affairs.
As far as the MSM, Yesterday on ‘The Drum’ I happened to flick it on in time to watch former Liberal politician Ross Cameron respond to the question of sex selection abortion and he spoke very well. Surprisingly, he was not cut off or interrupted as he mentioned our appalling statistics and record on abortion. Today, I have been unable to find this recording anywhere on the ABC website.
Maybe it’s there somewhere, but the ABC is doing a good job of hiding it.
Thanks for your work Bill- as the MSM blacks out what is really going on (as does the church), your work is becoming more and more important with every passing day.
Many thanks Annette

And they are called “killer” whales – I wonder why?
All those activists, journalists and well-meaning locals seem to have forgotten Tennyson’s expression “Nature, red in tooth and claw” (In Memoriam A. H. H., Canto 56), expressing the fallen state of the whole creation.
They are totally driven by their emotional attachment to anything natural (apart from man the intruder, of course).
When Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for tithing their kitchen herbs but forgetting the weightier matters of the law such as justice and compassion, he rebuked them for the neglect of the latter, not for the doing of the former. This Scripture provides a great opportunity to build bridges towards God for sincere environmentalists, and is supported by the doctrine of stewardship.
This could be our guideline in the environmental debate.
The only way all this makes any sense Bill is if the ‘ruling elite’ of the world actually have an agenda to reduce the human population on Earth.
Four hundred and ninety one children killed.
Think of that. Now think of this.
My child starts a new school in a couple of weeks’ time. Her previous school had four hundred and six children.
That is a primary school’s worth of children.
God have mercy on us all.
G.K. Chesterton, in his Eugenics and Other Evils (Cassell & Co.,1922, pp 12-13) pointed out long ago that dressing otherwise abhorrent ideas or practices in intelligent-sounding long words works disturbingly well to numb people’s troubled consciences. Romans 1:22 speaks of similar self-styled sages.
I always think of Mother Teresa’s quote ‘There are no unwanted children’.
I would open my home and arms to any of them. I know so many women who would love, care for, and even nurse these babies left to die. My heart breaks for thinking of it.
Dear Bill, the latest Time magazine had a lengthy article about the abortion legislation in the U.S.A. They featured some abortion activists, etc. There was no mention of the fact that you cannot study medical science or be involved in political activism if you do not have the right to be born. Some people are concerned for some whales but are playing Nero with the lives of unborn children.

Thanks guys – yes I have already penned a piece on the Time article, and am just waiting till we get a bit closer to the anniversary to post it.

God bless you Bill for your faithfulness. May He amplify your words, and may they come in the hearing of mothers contemplating murdering their babies. May the innocent blood stop flowing, at least to some measure, as the consequence of your faithful cry in the wilderness.

I too feel for the parents who have lost their love ones but every time I listen or read this sanctimonious government outrage I feel disgusted.
Of course we care about these children who have lost their lives and we must make every attempt to watch for and catch these sick offenders before they act wherever and whenever possible.
But let us look at the biggest offender in this scheme of things and realise that no matter under what title we put it the American Government which includes the current incumbents and others are supporting, nay in fact openly condoning the slaughter of innocent children in a most brutal and evil way and one that would make the evil crimes of Hitler’s cronies fade to insignificance. And yet every child whose death is blatantly condoned by this so-called civilised society is a badge of shame.
Abortion of both early term and late term plus partial and near fully birthed children are brutally murdered in a most gruesome way to the current unbelievable magnitude oft quoted of around 50 plus million children (in America alone) since Roe Versus Wade was enacted. It is openly supported under this government through the health care system in what seems to be pay back for election support given by the Human Abortoir industry and it hangs like a stench over all that was once good in America. Seriously is it any wonder that God seems to be deserting America.
And what is it all for? What possible reasons are there for this carnage? Predominately most are to eradicate the fairly short term inconvenience of pregnancy for what is effectively about five months of the full term. Does that outweigh the death of a child? Especially when there are so many adopter’s just waiting to provide a loving home for these unfortunate children. Yes there are special conditions where it might be excusable such as violent rape but that is generally and comparatively rare. And the death rate for women in abortion centres is not incomparable to those before AC’s,
This so called Invincible and untouchable demand for “choice” should be exercised before not after the event. Pregnancy is rarely a life threatening situation and yes for some it is an inconvenience but that doesn’t demand we enact a death sentence for an innocent person. For Gods sake we rarely apply such a sentence to convicted murderers and even then we try to make it as humane as possible. If we treated killers with the same method of killing as we do our unborn children there would be public outcry.
Seriously we need to apply the same outrage as that given for the lost children shot in school to the evil and violent deaths suffered every day by the unborn and near birthed babies in these so-called clinics.
Consider this 50 million children is just about equal (if not more-so) to the entire population of early post war England. If we took this globally it would most likely be equal to over half the population of Europe.
Surely a “Choice” which allows for the guiltless (in law only) slaying of the unborn is the greatest lethal weapon ever passed into law. And it’s predominately for one parent only. I believe that with sufficient outrage We as Christians could have stopped it.
Jesus said in the end times the love of many will wax cold.
“If we treated killers with the same method of killing as we do our unborn children there would be public outcry” said Dennis.
It’s sickening but true.

Bill I think this part of your article needs special highlight.
“Section 223(2) of the Criminal Code (the accompanying subsection to the now infamous subsection that Mr. Woodworth’s motion 312 was examining) reads ‘A person commits homicide when he causes injury to a child before or during its birth as a result of which the child dies after becoming a human being.’”
The fact remains that though Tennyson was right about nature being “red in tooth and claw,” it no where near descends to the level of cruelty of humanity, even though humanity can rise way above it.

Dear Bill, what a heart wrenching article. I am a pro-life supporter in England. I was very sad to read in one of our national papers recently that gender selection would not be stopped because it would be too expensive, and may upset the mothers! So women from countries where boys are preferred can get away with aborting their baby girls. The national figures are staggering. I am amazed at God’s patience. However I believe His judgements have started on the western nations. When it comes to killing our babies only God can change hearts of stone to hearts of flesh. He knows what is happening on the alter’s of Molech. May God have mercy on us, though we don’t deserve it,
Carol Parker, UK
Thanks Carol. Keep fighting the good fight.
