More Vignettes from the Abortion Wars
Arguably one of the great moral issues of our time – if not the greatest – abortion is never far from the headlines. Of course it does depend on which headlines: many in the mainstream media will not cover various stories about abortion, because they go against their pro-death agenda.
Thus it is often left to the alternative media to report on these matters, and tell us truths which the MSM refuse to present. That in part is why this website exists: as long as the MSM is engaged in censorship and news manipulation, instead of honest and objective reporting of the news, then others will need to pick up the slack.
So here are three recent items in the abortion wars, all reported in the alternative media, but hardly heard from in the MSM. Such stories can be multiplied many times over, and they need to be told. Let me begin with a story which comes out of the US state of Maryland.
It nicely gives lie to the myth that illegal abortions were dangerous and killed women, but legal abortion makes everything just hunky dory. The truth is, plenty of women are dying from legal abortions. The story begins this way:
“A 29-year old woman died yesterday as the result of fatal complications suffered during an abortion at 33 weeks. Late-term abortion practitioner LeRoy Carhart performed the abortion at the Germantown Reproductive Health Center in Germantown, Maryland.
“According to information the pro-life group Operation Rescue released to LifeNews today, the unnamed woman went to the abortion facility for a third trimester abortion from out-of-state and arrived at Germantown Reproductive Health Center on Sunday to start the abortion process. Local pro-life advocates protesting outside saw her every day until yesterday, and described her as appearing ‘pale and weak.’
“Early Thursday morning, the woman began suffering chest pain and other discomforts, the group informed LifeNews. Her attempts to reach Carhart were unsuccessful. The woman was taken by her family from her hotel to a nearby hospital emergency room at approximately 5:00 a.m. Efforts by hospital staff to contact Carhart or get informational assistance from the abortion clinic were unsuccessful.
“Operation Rescue says the abortion patient suffered massive internal bleeding into her abdominal cavity. She slipped into a Code Blue condition approximately six times before finally succumbing to her injuries at around 9:30 a.m. The case has been placed with the Medical Examiner for further investigation. The group says this botched abortion death took place the same day as another medical emergency took place at a New Mexico abortion clinic involving long-time Carhart associate Shelley Sella.”
The Executive Director of the Maryland Coalition for Life, Michael Martelli, said this: “It is so tragic that this family had to lose not only their nearly full-term child, but also their wife, daughter, and sister. What is most appalling is that the State of Maryland refused to hear the pleas of this community, and has allowed this man to continue to butcher women and children.”
As I said, this is not uncommon. It only seems that way because most of the MSM refuses to report such incidents. Another major pro-abortion myth shattered is that women have abortions for health reasons. No, they mostly have abortions for convenience’ sake. Abortions which are needed because of health risks to either the mother or baby are extremely rare.
An amazing video was taken at a San Francisco pro-life march. One story discusses this as follows: “Jill Stanek highlighted a disturbing video yesterday, taken during San Francisco’s Walk for Life. In the video, Russell Hunter of Abolish Human Abortion was approached by a woman who had an abortion, who proclaims that she’s a millionaire because she had an abortion at eighteen.
“Hunter pointed out that killing a child for money is called human sacrifice; the woman does not deny this, but she says that she was in an abusive relationship and was able to get a bachelors and masters degree. And this is what modern, pro-abortion feminism stands for. As Serrin Foster, president of Feminists for Life, pointed out, women deserve better. Crisis pregnancy centers are a prime example of resources to help women with unwanted pregnancies.
“But the most telling – and disturbing – part of this video is the all-too-common refrain from pro-abortion feminists that abortion must be legal because a woman can’t be successful if she has a baby. Rather than empowering women, pro-abortion feminism tears them down. It tells women that they aren’t strong enough to get a college degree and be a mother. It tells women that they can’t be successful and be a mother. It tells women that having a baby will ruin their lives. We, as women, are not strong enough to take on hardships and challenges and overcome them. You would think that more women would fight back against that.”
There you go, some pro-abortion realism: “I must kill my baby because my career is important, as is making a lot of money”. Sounds like a great justification to me. Indeed, let’s extend the logic of that: If your born children are slowing you down financially and preventing you from climbing the corporate ladder, then why can’t they be bumped off as well? If not, why not?
Our third case comes from Texas. It is as sad as it is incredible. It goes like this: “A teenage girl in Texas has sued her parents in an effort to stop them from forcing her to have an abortion. The 16-year-old, who is only cited as R.E.K. in the lawsuit because she is still a minor, is two months pregnant.
“She asserts that both her mother and father ‘are violating her federal constitutional rights to carry her child to term by coercing her to have an abortion with both verbal and physical threats and harassment.’ ‘We are asking the judge to stop them from physically forcing her to have an abortion. She is legally protected,’ stated Stephen Casey of the Texas Center for the Defense of Life, which is representing R.E.K. ‘They cannot drag her to get an abortion and force an abortion on our client’.”
Wow, now folks have to go to court to preserve life – and withstand their own parents as well. What sort of world have we created for ourselves? What sort of ugly pro-death culture have we devised to turn parents against child, and grandparents against grandchildren?
Sadly every day there are more stories like these occurring. We are in the middle of an all-out war over life. The forces of darkness are on a killing spree, trying to justify their blood-letting as a mere “choice”. On the other side are those who will not rest until the womb once again becomes what it always should have been: the safest place on earth.

Well Said Bill. Yes the pro death squad who are a very aggressive minority group, like to treat women like idiots. They like to deny women the truth and the facts about abortion. Deny women counseling, deny women an ultra sound to show the factual development of the baby, deny them the knowledge of the risks and harms from abortion, deny them the reality that having a baby who loves them more than anyone else in the world, is actually empowering, amazing and a privilege. The stale old feminist rant, is long out of date and their non logical arguments are being squashed now by so many people, and its so fantastic to see the truth and reality coming out from everywhere now. Thankfully, women are now being empowered by Feminists for life and truth.

Yes we all must do our bit to get the truth out there Loretta.

A 16 year old sued her parents so she won’t have an abortion? Too right Bill, what is the world coming to. Just when I thought I heard it all.

Hi Bill, the abortion issue can be so disheartening. Even so many Christians just believe all the lies. In the last 18 months, my wife has nursed me back to health from a brain injury, given birth to our third son, all while studying nursing full time at uni (she is on the deans list with a GPA of 6). I hope one day I can understand why people just believe the lies and accept second best.

It shows how things haven’t changed.
The Canaanites sacrificed their children to Molech to achieve success as well. In their case they thought Molech would give them more bountiful harvests etc.
Nowadays, we expect child sacrifice will allow us to accumulate more qualifications and a bigger paycheck.
It is hard to say whether our society or the Canaanites are more deluded.

Usually in a marriage, when a woman finds she is pregnant, it’s supposed to be part and parcel of the business of being married, i.e procreation. But of course we now have the “modern anything goes society”….women want sex before marriage, then become shocked when they find they’re pregnant. As a result we have a whole new class of unmarried mothers, acting as a drag on the country’s welfare system. In fact, women often now want a baby but not a permanent father or husband….they want a child AND a career without the male….what are we turning into? Is the male now so despised? Equally abortion is seen as just a contraceptive by many, because baby is an inconvenience; well, there’s a solution!
How easier life would be if people waited until they’d married before engaging in the ultimate union; allowing children to be born into an appropriate and structured environment. Perhaps I’m now archaic in my views; I went to my wedding thirty years ago as a pure bride. These days you are laughed at if you’re still a virgin at 21. But when you look at the risks, it really just isn’t worth the hassle. Maybe those old-fashioned church “stuffy” values and morals did have some sense after all!

Indeed, I came across this recently:
Philip J. Rayment
I know a woman who had a child out of wedlock. Later when she did marry she carried her baby up the aisle. She has grandchildren. I know a woman who sacrificed her child for a higher degree. She has a photo of herself accepting the award and nocturnal visits from her child.

Hmmm, wondering out loud…
Could I become an artist, do some pics of abortions (such as we see on FaceBook), contrast them with pics of happy mums-to-be, and smiley babies, and have an exhibition in the Sydney Gallery called “Therefore Choose Life”?
Or do you think it would be banned as offensive, even though I was next door to those Kate Moss pictures, justified as “Art”?

It has always bothered me how these places of death are called “reproductive health” clinics. There is the lie right there in the name.
I praise the Lord for that young girl who is brave enough to stand up against the bullying of her own parents to preserve the life she carries. There must be hope for the next generation yet. Certainly in the day of my youth it was the young people that were promoting wrong things, but now it is the older generation and that is just sad and wrong.

Bill, you are in good company and if you had worked for a main stream newspaper or television channel, you would have lost your job by now like Malcolm Muggeridge.
Thanks for what you are doing.
Many blessings
