The World’s Greatest Killing Machine

Apr 2, 2013

So who is responsible for the most deaths ever? The Communists? The Nazis? Armies at war? Nope. We now have the rough figures on the cause of the most deaths, and it is not from soldiers, dictators, or criminals, but from doctors and those involved in the medical services. Abortion it appears is the world’s biggest killer.

The Second World War took some 60 million lives. But it seems that if we put together all those who died from wars, the numbers would not surpass those who have been killed by abortion. Admittedly hard data here is hard to precisely come by. And of course chemical abortions also account for much, much more death.

But if the guestimates of the experts are near correct, then we now know of the world’s greatest killing machine. A recent piece suggests that during the last forty years, just under 2 billion lives have been lost to abortion. 1973 was the year abortion was legalised in America, and the death and destruction that have flowed since then have been mind-boggling.

The article begins this way: “Simon Rabinovitch in his article, ‘Data Reveal Scale of China Abortions,’ reports that there have been 336 million abortions, 196 million sterilizations and 403 million intrauterine devices used in China since 1971. He notes that Chinese doctors every year abort roughly 7 million babies, sterilize nearly 2 million men and women and insert 7 million IUDs, though precise numbers are hard to come by. My first reaction to this news was horror and disgust. Remember that these numbers represent the actions of only one country, and its corrosive behavior against life.

“After reading the article, I asked Dr. Brian Clowes, director of education and research at Human Life International, to investigate the number of worldwide abortions since 1973. The results were staggering! He estimates that there have been more than 1.72 billion abortions over the last 40 years, a trend that is not lessening but growing exponentially as more and more countries embrace and legalize contraception and abortion as methods of population control, which is always sold as ‘family planning’ and ‘reproductive health.’

“Honestly, Dr. Clowes’ research left me numb. It is almost unimaginable to believe that humanity has sunk — and continues to sink — to such a level of disregard for human life. One would think we would have learned from history and the consequences of intrinsically evil decisions. As there was with the concentration camps of the Second World War, there should be outrage and outcry for the 1.72 billion children murdered in the last 40 years. Sadly their cries and those of our other most vulnerable brothers and sisters, the poor, the aged and handicapped, are drowned out amidst the growing waves of relativism, economic development and ‘rights’ without responsibilities. What will be the saturation point? How many more will die to satisfy man’s appetite for destruction?”

We can never use the word “genocide” again without automatically thinking of the war against the unborn. This has been the most deadly, the bloodiest, and the most chilling slaughter ever – and it is a slaughter of the innocents. The choice here is completely unambiguous: we either champion life or we champion death.

Jesus made this quite clear when he said this: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). Satan opposes everything that God stands for. Just as God stands for life above all else, so Satan stands for death above all else.

Thus this mass slaughter is not just about a woman’s right to choose, and abortion mills making lots of money, and people shaking their fists at the author and giver of life. It is about a spiritual war, with the abortion mindset coming straight out of the pit of hell.

If any person calls himself a Christian, yet does not make the fight for life a top priority, they may need to rethink their position. The sanctity of human life is a key Christian concern. If God is so vitally concerned about the rights of the unborn, so should we.

What are you doing to stop this genocide?

  • Whilst I totally agree with Bill’s article I fear that the ‘enlightened ones’ will scarcely acknowledge it. After all they won’t admit that left wing atheistic governments last century killed more people than the worst excesses of the Church in the last 20 centuries. Lenin’s secret police killed about 2 milllion, Stalin’s persecutions 20-23 million and Mao’s approx 30-35 million, Pol Pots 1-3 million. As Stalin says one death is a tragedy one million deaths a statistic. The enlightened ones will simply scoff, ignore and repeat the mantra ‘it’s a woman’s choice.’ Sorry to be cynical but such is the tragedy of the human condition.

  • Human Life International is called Family Life International in Australia. They receive no financial support from either state or church. They are a catholic organisation. The ‘Helpers of God’s Precious Infants’ are the same people for the most part. They are the ones who pray outside abortion clinics. Each Saturday they battle the elements and the abuse to pray with those who die inside and they also celebrate the occasional turn-around. As Jesus stood to welcome Stephen home so too will he stand to welcome these people home when their life on earth has ended. And there will be lots of little souls to welcome them home as well.

  • Nietzsche’s autobiographical Ecce Homo ends with the chilling aphorism: “-Have I made myself understood? – Dionysus versus the Crucified.“. The latter-day apostles and devotees of the new Sexual Rights agenda and its serving wench, the abortion industry stand wholly in the insanely debauched and senselessly violent traditions of the myths and mystery cults of the ancient Greek god, Dionysus.

Here in Tasmania, we have our own coterie of politicians intent on ensuring their political survival by paying legislative homage to Dionysus and Pluto, the self-style lord of Hades. In the words of Cato Senior, “Carthage must be destroyed.”!

  • That’s why prayer is the most important action. and any other action without it almost futile.

  • G’day Bill,
    Thanks, again.

My devotions this morning included Genesis 6v5-6: The LORD saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. 6 The LORD was grieved that He had made man on the earth, and His heart was filled with pain.’ The Lord has long since grieved over this evil, and He is planning another Day when He will do what He has to do to end this evil. Meanwhile, like Noah, we must walk with God, regardless of what our world does.

  • Good ammo against the “religion causes all the wars” mantra.
(OTOH…When one counts evolutionary humanism as a religion – which it is, then man-made religion = death.)

  • Read this:

I suppose one could ask the badger lovers when is a badger merely a bundle of tissue – products of reproduction and when does it become a badger in the womb and thus protected from abortion?

  • Yes, we have lost our way and so the journey home will be much more painful and difficult than it ever needed to be. God’s infinite mercy must be balanced by His justice. His perfect nature requires this, and if ever anything cried to heaven for vengeance it must surely be the wholesale slaughter of the innocent of which our society is guilty.

  • In the Yugoslavian civil war the UN sent in a peace keeping force of Dutch troops to make a safe zone in Srebrennica to protect the defenceless. You’d think that the same concept of blue helmets would protect defenceless babies in the womb. Seems the UN failed now as it did then. You’d imagine that the womb would be a safe zone in this violent world. Apparently not. A harpoon through a whale causes indignation in the UN but a scalpel through a defenceless baby for convenience is ‘a right’. And the ‘enlightened ones’ wonder why we can’t see their ‘wisdom.’ And the death toll counter keeps ticking.
