Brexit: The Fallout

Just as soon as I finished writing my first article on the big Brexit win, it has already become dated. The repercussions just keep pouring in. Since then Prime Minister David Cameron has resigned (to take effect in October), stock market volatility has been shaking things up, and other European countries are now talking about exit strategies.

And hot on the heels of the Tory leader announcing his resignation, former London mayor Boris Johnson held a press conference speaking of the momentous vote. He will now be a leading contender for the top job. And Scottish leader Nicola Sturgeon has just come out saying she will seek to keep Scotland in the EU! Lots of changes indeed! Who would have imagined all this just 24 hours ago?

The final vote, with over a 72% turnout, was 48.1% wishing to stay in the EU, and 51.9% voting to leave. All up some 17 1/2 million people said it is time to go, while just over 16 million wanted to stay. This was a historic vote and one that surprised most pollsters and pundits.

brexit 4But even plenty of Labour voters pushed for the leave case. The Brits were rightly getting very concerned indeed about the influx of foreigners, many of whom have refused to blend in but insist on their own way of life – often a way of life diametrically opposed to freedom and democracy.

And they can see all the madness unfolding in various European nations. How many Islamic jihad attacks have they witnessed of late? How much multi culti division and disintegration have they observed? How much national decline and European Big Brotherism have they noted?

They have been fully aware of all the Muslim no go zones in major European cities, and they have seen them springing up in British cities. They have seen their own lands being taken over by foreign ideologies and foreign values. And they have started to say enough is enough.

Let me mention here that in April I posted a short video clip from a Toronto debate on the immigration crisis which pitted Nigel Farage and Mark Steyn against Louise Arbour and Simon Schama. At one point Steyn gave a powerful response to the idiocy of the pro-immigration side, pointing out that things like gang-rape by migrants in Europe are no laughing matter. The short clip is well worth watching: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoVqst74BcI

Thus this was a vote against the failed EU experiment. It was a vote against the failed multiculturalism agenda. It was a vote against out of touch bureaucrats in Brussels taking power and control out of the hands of ordinary British citizens. It was a vote against a globalist agenda at war with nations and individuals.

But as mentioned, hardly anyone expected this result. Even the Leave Vote camp had cancelled its party the night of the vote, expecting to lose. Nigel Farage and others in the leave camp were equally dour at first. But they of course all have good reason to party on now!

All sorts of political heavyweights have had to come out and make statements just after the result was made clear, including the governor of the Bank of England, unhappy leaders from the EU, Labour leader Corbyn, Europhiles like Tony Blair, the new Muslim mayor of London, Donald Trump who had just arrived in Scotland, and so on.

This has been a remarkable outcome. The 28 nations of the EU are now down to 27. After being in for 43 years, the UK is no longer a part of it, although the transition to get fully out will require a few years. The changes will be complex and will take time, but the die is cast.

A big lesson in all this is that people power still can work – big time. Obviously a huge amount of effort went into the Brexit campaign and its big win. For example, Farage of UKIP was tireless in this work for decades. Indeed, he was involved for 25 years in fighting this!

He is perhaps the real champion here and we need more heroes like him. But there were others of course. Boris Johnson certainly worked hard to get the UK out of the EU, as did conservative politicians such as Daniel Hannan. This all demonstrates that a lot of hard work can certainly pay off.

And I know that a lot of Christians were involved in this campaign as well. It shows clearly that a lot of prayer can help to change nations. And things sure can change in no time at all. Within hours of the Brexit win the Prime Minister David Cameron announced that he would resign.

Cameron was the ‘conservative’ leader who was often far from conservative. For example he gave the UK homosexual “marriage”. He even boasted of bringing this in during his resignation speech! From a biblical point of view, when leaders promote unrighteousness, as Scripture says, God will be forced to step in and act.

God raises up leaders and he takes them down. One minute a leader thinks he is secure on the throne – the next minute he is a goner. Things change, and can change fast. And that gives me hope for what I see happening in Australia and America.

Both nations go to the polls soon. Both offer a dismal set of choices for the top job. But people power still can work. We need to keep praying for the US and Australia. Hardly anyone expected this massive political earthquake to occur in the UK and beyond.

But it did happen, and it can happen elsewhere. So this was a mighty win indeed. As Farage said, “23 June needs to become a national bank holiday and we should call it ‘Independence Day’.” He said we need a Dutch equivalent – a Nexit – and a Danish equivalent – a Dexit – and a French equivalent – a Frexit – and so on.

Quite right, and there are plenty of other nations who do need their own independence day. Already other nations have been emboldened to follow suit. Geert Wilders, leader of the anti-EU Dutch Party of Freedom has already congratulated the UK and said he hopes his nation will do the same:

Thursday, June 23, 2016, will go down in history as Britain’s Independence Day. The Europhile elite has been defeated. Britain points Europe the way to the future and to liberation. It is time for a new start, relying on our own strength and sovereignty. Also in the Netherlands.
A recent survey (EenVandaag, Dutch television) shows that a majority of the Dutch want a referendum on EU membership. It also shows that more Dutch are in favour of exit than of remaining in the EU. The Dutch people deserve a referendum as well. The Party for Freedom consequently demands a referendum on NExit, a Dutch EU exit. As quickly as possible the Dutch need to get the opportunity to have their say about Dutch membership of the European Union.

Freedom is contagious. What Brexit has done is encourage and empower millions of people throughout the West to also take a stand for local control, for national sovereignty, and for the rule of the people – not foreign elites. Well done UK.

The revolution has begun.

19 Replies to “Brexit: The Fallout”

  1. The Soviet Union was also based on lies and it took a while for it to collapse. Many economists have said for years that the concept of having fiscal policy at country level but monetary policy at all Europe level was a recipe for disaster and of course, in recent year this been proven to be correct. All it does is provide a larger base to support socialist malpractice and corruption. Wouldn’t it be great to see a chain reaction in nations realizing that they don’t need to spend fourteen billion pounds or the equivalent on centralized, undemocratic, unaccountable bureaucracies to have free trade and buoyant economies. Of course in the short term the bureaucrats will attempt to bring as many penalties as they can against Britain so it would be good to see other nations exit ASAP. It may, however, herald a short term boost to Australian primary industry exports.

  2. The Brexit vote won with all the major political parties, and the polls, against them! You can see now why the forces of evil are running scared against letting the Australian people have their say on same sex “marriage”.

  3. The only ploy left now to the progressives is to inundate the mainstream media with stories about all the young people who voted to stay in the EU and how they have been “betrayed”. These are exactly the kind of young people who have no memory of the entire history of the world in which almost every nation and empire oppressed its people, much like the EU has been working hard to do. The only place that evaded this, for a little while at least, was the West. These people have no interest in genuine democracy, which is not fit for the amorality anyway. They willing throw out all of our freedoms so we can all be oppressed again.

  4. We in the United States need a Texit. As a state who has more conservatism and Christian values than liberalism, Texas should seek its independence also specially when Washington tries to shove homosexualism tolerance down our throats! Too bad Senator Cruz did not over take Trump! We pray that God takes matters in his hands and helps us with our two remaining candidates!

  5. http://www.essexchronicle.co.uk/danbury-gay-dads-tony-barrie-drewitt-barlow/story-20854368-detail/story.html

Barrie Drewitt-Barlow the first gay man to sue a church for not celebrating a union of sodomy had plans to use the “EU Human Rights Agency” to over-rule the Church of England’s “quadruple lock” separation of church and state to force them to comply with government orders to celebrate their gay marriage on church land has been destroyed by the Brexit.

He is also famous for having a business that exploit women to breed babies for gay men and making infomercials for his business where he gets his designer baby product, his 6 year old son who has a 10 year older twin to say I’m glad I don’t have a mother and that men that do sodomy sex make better fathers than those men who do not sodomize other men.

How would such a young child profess to know such things about how doing acts of sodomy sex and how it allegedly makes one a better father? That is an interesting question.

  6. The backlashes are still coming. It appears someone has started a petition calling for a second in/out referendum and it has collected a mass of signatures, sufficient for Parliament to have to discuss it; based on the fact that the win was a narrow margin. We are dealing with a very irate 48% of the country.
I believe the UK will eventually fracture and England will acquire its own assembly/parliament. We don’t know what God has lined up….but I don’t believe that our steps will be retrograde now.

  7. I believe this vote is, amongst other things, God’s judgement on David Cameron for homosexual so called ‘marriage’. It is almost 3 years to the day that this wicked law was enacted.

Today London is being taken over by “Gay Pride” sponsored by The (muslim) Mayor of London, Barclays Bank and The Daily Telegraph newspaper. Shame on them all. However yesterday I went up to London with a large Union Jack and walked all around central London including Trafalgar Square where the centre of the “Pride” March will be today and claimed Great Britain back for Jesus Christ and bound in His name the spirits of filthiness and perversion. I also declared that all the ‘Rainbow Flags’ flying everywhere belonged to God and are confirmation that He will bring judgement by fire on the unrepentant. My prayer is for these tormented souls that they will turn to Jesus and be healed. Pray for the safety of our Brother David Skinner and others who are there witnessing the gospel to them. God bless them.

Praise God for His mercy to this Nation, which is not deserved. I give thanks that so many believing Christians have been standing in prayer (and fasting) over the last weeks and months for the Deliverance of Great Britain and God has graciously answered our prayers ! Hallelujah !!!

Rejoicing in the House of the Righteous, Psalm 118.

  8. As with Babylon then Sodom and Gomorrah, and now it seems London, it is the cities where people want to make a name for themselves by gathering together (for one world rule) and reject God’s commands.
But then London has been the home of many great Christians and I hope their legacy persists.

  9. Points of Brexit Awesomeness:

1 Brexit has seriously (and likely fatally) wounded the European Union construct. While for generations the EU has been painted as an indomitable force destined to only grow in size and power, and while it has been presented as such not only by overtly anti-Christian secular leaders from both “conservative” and “liberal” political persuasions, but also by many professing Christians enslaved to a newspaper-style approach to prophecy and “the end times”, the fact of the EU being seriously wounded in yesterday’s vote has very helpfully exposed many destructive fictions as the dangerously farcical things that they have always been.
    .
2 Where just yesterday the EU was “the invincible beast” of globalist dreams and dispensationalist eschatology, today she is a paper tiger torn nearly in two.
    .
    3 Nice!
    .
4 Brexit has exposed the lie that radical decentralization cannot be accomplished here and now in the most developed nations in the West. If Britain can leave the EU, then peaceable, profitable secession is a very real option for any other group of people seeking to free itself from the tyrannical abuse of godless governments built upon the massive (and wildly unbiblical) centralization of power and application of unbiblical law.
    .
5 Which leads us quite nicely to…
    .
6 Brexit threatens the centralized power paradigm of Washington DC. If Britain doesn’t need Brussels and the EU, then why does Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma or Montana need Washington DC? Why does Arkansas have to be inexorably bound to California?
    .
7 These are the questions that American Statists (including every major party nominee for President for generations now), American State-run “education” and American Statist/Corporate media do everything within their power to keep out of our minds and off our radar…yet these questions and concepts are moving more and more onto people’s radar and into the realm of serious consideration thanks to the undeniable reality of Brexit.

8 Brexit removes our excuses, invalidates our apathy, and shows us with great clarity that the radical (and thoroughly biblical) decentralization of power is not only possible right here and right now, but is actually happening right now. This reality, when combined with the profoundly decentralization-enabling technologies that God has raised up and put in the hands of His people in such a time as this should inspire us to great praise, optimism, and confidence as we seize the opportunities emerging all around us and strive to advance the Kingdom of God even as the little wannabe empires of man crumble around us.
    .
9 Brexit shines a million megawatt spotlight on the beautifully biblical concept of decentralization. I know this might seem redundant at this point, but it is worth savoring all by itself. The sheer beauty of something dismissed as unattainable and unreal just hours ago is now highlighted by the grace of God as a very real and attainable goal.

I hope that these points are helpful and in some way might be used to inspire God’s people to praise His name and take up His Gospel-fueled Great Commission with vigor, confidence, and joy.

We are truly living in amazing times…and purposefully so.

  10. I hate to be a bit of a wet blanket among all the elation over the good news of Brexit but we should not forget that one of the front-runners to replace David Cameron (whose “greatest” claim to fame is he forced all Britain to promote immorality) is Boris Johnson; a serial adulterer from Islamic extraction (as was Obama) with strong ties to Islam and who was instrumental in redefining marriage. This would give Britain a pro-Islamic PM and an Islamic Mayor of London, both of whom are pro-immorality.

I suggest God is intending to bring smaller calamities onto people to give them the maximum chance to repent as opposed to putting things off until the inevitable huge collapse of the EU, for example. Better to chastise your children quickly and early (and consistently) than let then suffer the full consequences of their wrong behaviour later.

  11. I have today returned from London Gay Pride, in which the Coldstream Guards, complete with bear skin hats or whatever they call them and red tunics were marching. In the afternoon, there was an almighty roar as the RAF, trailing rainbow, flew very low overhead. For nearly four hours an endless procession of depravity, disorder and hellish scene unfolded on the Streets of London. Forget Brexit, I have an ominous sense of chaos and anarchy fast approaching our nation. The writing is truly on the wall.

  12. Yes, Michael and David, God has delivered us for DISCIPLINE that we may again be a light unto the Nations. It will be tough but it will be good for us and at least we now know that we are still under HIS protection. Hallaluyah !

There will now be an almighty battle for control of this Nation. We need to on our KNEES in fasting and prayer as we have been for our deliverance. We are only in the foothills, we still have the Himalayas to climb and at least we are on the way, which we couldn’t have been until Thursday, Independence Day. Praise God. It is now the long fight back through the institutions !

  13. We are visiting family in the UK and when we went to bed on Thursday night the Leave vote was about 1,000 ahead (with about 1/450 of the registered voting base votes cast). I thought that the Remainers would inevitably win but like may others here was shocked but incredibly overjoyed that a nation can choose the right path.

David Cameron (and yes Boris Johnson has committed the same atrocity) helped pass into law the hideous homosexual marriage law back in 2012. When the Referendum result was announced my mind went to Daniel 5:17-29:

17 Then Daniel answered, and said before the king, “Let your gifts be for yourself, and give your rewards to another; yet I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation. 18 O king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father a kingdom and majesty, glory and honor. 19 And because of the majesty that He gave him, all peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. Whomever he wished, he executed; whomever he wished, he kept alive; whomever he wished, he set up; and whomever he wished, he put down. 20 But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him. 21 Then he was driven from the sons of men, his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys. They fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till he knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, and appoints over it whomever He chooses.

22 “But you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, although you knew all this. 23 And you have lifted yourself up against the Lord of heaven. They have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, which do not see or hear or know; and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified. 24 Then the fingers[c] of the hand were sent from Him, and this writing was written.

25 “And this is the inscription that was written:

    MENE,[d] MENE, TEKEL,[e] UPHARSIN.[f]

26 This is the interpretation of each word. MENE: God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it; 27 TEKEL: You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting; 28 PERES: Your kingdom has been divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”[g] 29 Then Belshazzar gave the command, and they clothed Daniel with purple and put a chain of gold around his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

Mr Cameron rebelled at God’s design of marriage and family and on this occasion I think there is some case to be made that God has chosen to weigh him in the balance and, in the wake of the (right) decision to Leave the EU, he has been found wanting.

A second comment is I wondered if David Cameron could have announced the referendum and then stayed above it in a statesmanlike manner in the public sense. This would have allowed the British people to make a decision without the highest elected office in the land bringing pressure to bear in the form of various arguments. Then, whichever way the electorate voted, and this applies especially in the case of leaving the EU, he would be in a position toserve his nation in negotiating the exit (or negotiating reform within). Instead of taking the high road and serving his people (for that is what a leader really does) he decided that telling the nation what he thinks is right is the best way to help them make the decision. That is not serving at its highest calling. Of course he wanted to stay in Europe but such is the capacity of the human condition to realize that sometimes one does make mistakes and you can change your mind and go in the opposite direction. While there are some things that I could never negotiate – legalization of abortion – because it is an intrinsic evil, I don’t think leaving EU membership falls into the category of irredeemably evil from the point of view of a EU supporter. David should’ve realized this and in this case, in the office of Prime Minister, God has numbered his days, finished it, through a referendum been weighed in the balances and found wanting, and his kingdom has been divided.

  14. Dear Bill, Thank you for the article. I left England before Britain joined the EU. It was when Britain joined the EU that they closed up a lot of coal mines destroying the life of the many prosperous little mining villages. Now many of these villages are decaying with houses boarded up so there is no wonder these were the regions that voted to get out and the London region voted to stay in because the EU didn’t do much for the northern provinces. As far as I am concerned ‘there will always be an England’. They stood up to Hitler for a year on their own and they will stand up to this rather than risk their freedom. Let’s not forget they had a civil war in the seventeenth century to preserve religious freedom which resulted in regicide. In the nineteenth century it was the first European nation to industrialise and was known as the workshop of the world. Now you hardly see anything with a Made in England label. Maybe after Brexit we will see more as Australia has a special relationship with England because it was British Christian values and the Westminster system of democracy upon which this country was founded.

  15. More fool David Cameron. Is England heading for another civil war? Perhaps not quite. But the possibility of this nearly hung vote, and the resulting angst should have been seen. The Brexit issue was too big and too important to be swung by such a tiny margin. David Cameron should have had hit wits about him and made it so that the change was only possible when there was a sense of unity in the nation about it. Surely he could have employed the Australian referendum type rules which say that the vote is accepted as a yes only if there is a majority over all, and a majority in each of the states, and also perhaps a significant majority of say 60% 0r 70%. As I see it the Brexit vote may well have been different if the weather had changed, or if a butterfly had flapped its wings in the Amazon. Now the consequences have to be worn…. unless….
PS & NB With the possible coming plebiscite on same sex marriage in Australia, I hope our politicians design the plebiscite so that we do not have a major change on a bee’s whisker majority. In any case, there needs to be room for those who conscientiously object.

  16. No Bruce, What is done is done, it is God’s hand on our Nation. He has set us free and we thank Him from the bottom of our Hearts! It is the cultural marxists who are stirring up hate and violence. A Daily Telegraph reporter, who writes on Culture of all things, called for the murder of Nigel Farage the day before yesterday. This is demonic, pure and simple.
